    Asada burrito

Ok. I was hungry and decided to stop here for a burrito. It's a small place in a convenient store and the guy behind the counter didn't speak English at all. Normally these are good signs since gas station tacos and people that only speak Spanish usually means great food. Unfortunately this time, this was not the case. Yes the burrito is massive and the hot sauce had a good flavor with a little kick. Unfortunately all these stars were lost because of 1 thing... The rice. In a burrito, every bite you can taste the rice so when the rice isn't properly cooked, it really stands out. It was limited with flavor and very crunchy (undercooked) which ruined the whole thing. The meat wasn't all that seasoned, but it was fresh off the grill when I got there, beans were ok, cilantro and onions are ok, but the rice being crunchy is a huge issue for a burrito. The guy there might be having an off day (you could tell he was second guessing the rice because kept scooping some and looking at it, and then do the same in another spot. He also seemed iffy about wrapping the burrito as well and hesitated a few times in the process). I might try it again to see if this was just an off day for him, or something, but after this time, that may take a little while for me to do

Good tacos, what else do you need to know? ;-) Thanks to Yelpers, we found this little cantina inside the Valero "Azle Stop." Yes, it's inside the gas station. Ladies who work there are SO nice and cook/create some comida deliciosa! Recommend Taco Plate - beans + rice + 4 tacos (chicken was yummy, Al Pastor as well). Sauce options are red (spicy) or verde/green (mild). Wall to the back, order, buy a drink from the gas station attendee, sit & wait for your yumminess to be ready. You can take away OR sit and eat - couple of high top tables & stools are available. TIP: Be ready to make a U Turn after the light, if you go past it.

Always nervous about gas station tacos, however, when I saw an Abuelita I knew I was in good hands. Food was perfect, abuelita was very friendly. The gas station it self was relatively clean. The kitchen was cleaner. I'll definitely be coming here REGULARLY.

Nothing I love more than a good hole in the wall spot, and this place is the embodiment of that. The people, so sweet and helpful. The food, insane. My fiance and I recommend this place to all of our friends. It feels like we go here every weekend! You will not be disappointed if you stop by.

I'm glad we tried this place. We were needing a really good taco spot and we found it. Service was great and tacos were tasty. We can't complain. Give it a shot.

I love stopping by here anytime I'm in the area. Good food and not that Tex-Mex that is so common around these parts. Great service!

Unfortunately, this place missed the mark for me. Ordering was easy as they specialize in burgers with and the lady at the window was friendly enough. The kid and I both ordered the mission burger, which is 2 smash patties, cheese, and their special sauce. I added grilled onion to mine and he ordered a side of fries. I could tell when I looked at the patties I would be disappointed. They weren't really smash patties at all, more like the size and shape of a McDonald's quarter pounder. They tasted like the prepackaged patties you would get out of a box or bag. I can't say for sure, but the quality was just not great. I've eaten my fair share of burgers around the metroplex, so I know good quality when I have it. The kid enjoyed his food and the fries were really good, hence the 3 stars. At $11 for the basic burger, I wouldn't visit again. I hate leaving reviews like this!

So yesterday (10/3/2012) Keller had it's first pop-up food truck event. I was very happy to catch wind of it, for I'm usually late to the party when it comes to events. In attendance were Gastro Bomber and So-Cal Tacos (http://www.yelp.com/biz/so-cal-tacos-fort-worth). My plan was to order something from each truck, one as a way to show support, and two, well because I'm a glutton and wanted to try both. I looked over both menus and came to a decision. From GB it was going to be the Chicken and Waffle Sandwich. I've been wanting C&Ws forever, from anywhere, and tonight was finally my night to try this item. The first thing to point out is it was not really a "sandwich" unless you want to stretch it and call it an open-faced sandwich. Second, it was not a full-sized waffle, but rather something rectangular. It consisted of three pieces of boneless chicken and a drizzle of maple syrup. Cost, $8. It was very good. The chicken was tender and the waffle delicious. What I noticed, and confirmed, is that there is corn meal in the waffle batter. I was told this is the Southern twist they like to add to there food. It was like Belgian cornbread. Yummy! Now I will add my wife's comment, which seem to be true of all food trucks, is that the cost to quantity ratio seems to be a little high. Three large tenders on essentially half a waffle for 8 bucks seems a bit much. Now I came up with a new take on the cost and that is this; One, your getting to try something new and somewhat unique. Two, and here's the kicker, your bottom line cost is perhaps a bit less than if you sat down in a restaurant. If tips are expected at food trucks, I did not see any obvious vessel for the cash to go in. You can bring your own drinks, and thus your bottom line for a unique dining experience really is not bad. I for one am glad this came together. I was excited when I learned that Keller might be getting it's own food truck park, and was disappointed when I learned the plans were not approved. Somehow I think Keller's loss will be Roanoke's gain (Actually Corina T., aka the "shark lady", who I met at this event said that). From this point forward I will keep track of food trucks coming to Keller, and there are definitely a few more items on GB's menu I would like to try (Irish Nachos, Shepherd's Pie Croquettes, Fish and Chips, Picanha Sandwich). PS. If you missed it, they will be back in the same spot (at the CVS at the NE corner of 1709 and Rufe Snow) next week, 10/10/2012 from 5 to 8PM. One quick tip: Do bring your own chairs!

I was literally making sure I didn't leave a drop on the plate. The Texas scramble was SO good--big portions, packed with eggs, bacon, sausage, and smothered in that gravy. Total comfort food.
