I was very happy to see the Ivy in Wimbledon Village. The village is filled with lots of pastry…read moreshops and pubs which was a lot of fun but the Ivy is a very special restaurant. We went for breakfast and had delicious pancakes. Everything on the menu looked great. So breakfast is a very good choice to go to if you are looking for an upscale breakfast. Their decor and ambiance are beautiful. The service is very good as well. We went t back for dinner after a day at tennis and had the pea soup, watermelon and tomato salad and fish and chips. My husband and I both thought the fish and chips were the best we have ever had. I recommend stopping in for any meal if you are ever near an Ivy cafe or restaurant.

We had decided to give The Ivy one last chance after two disappointing visits and booked for NYE as…read moreit is close to home. We now know never to return. First, they seated us in what was called the "conservatory" but that is like saying Milton Keynes is a vacation hotspot. It was a depressing garage like space that they hadn't even bothered to decorate. So while others sat in the cosy space inside, we were freezing in a drab, depressing area, through which employees dragged rubbish bins. It's like sitting at the back of the theatre and being expected to pay the same price as those at the front centre. The food was appalling. I had the cheese souffle and I can only assume the chef has a fear of seasoning as it was as bland as baby food. My husband's prawn cocktail was sad looking and, again, lacked flavour. The main was inedible--I took one bite and it was mushy, grainy, and so unpleasant I couldn't eat anymore. My husband's sea bass had a tasty sauce but the fish was overcooked. The mashed potatoes had been so overworked they were gummy and the broccoli was tasty but cold. My dessert was a lemon sorbet but was just an icy mess. The cheese plate my husband ordered was probably the best thing I ate that night and I was so hungry I devoured the Stilton. Their Ivy cuvee is worse than a cheap prosecco so I switched to Veuve Cliquot. My husband ordered what he thought was a beer as it was under the beer and cider section but none of them were labelled as either beer or cider. He got cider, which he doesn't like, and returned it. Nevertheless, it was not taken off the bill, as any decently run restaurant would do. I don't know who eats at The Ivy as the food is mediocre to bad, the service is spotty, the management seems incompetent. My husband and I are both in the restaurant business so know how a good restaurant should be run. I assume they rely on tourists and people who dislike flavour. We will never go back, not only to this one in Wimbledon Village, but any other Ivy. Truly a horrible experience. Avoid.
