I have been going to Belleview Veterinary Hospital with my three dogs since I moved to the area about 4 years ago and have always found them to be helpful and friendly. Sadly the day came when I had to make the very hard decision to put my baby of 10 years down. I have had to make this same decision several times in my long life however this was the first time I was told that if I wanted to stay with my girl through this difficult process I would have to pay $100.00, the reason I was given was that they catheterize animals before euthanizing them. I have never heard of this before and do not see the need for this process since animals I have had euthanized in the past never made a mess. I feel like this Vet was exploiting the love for my dog and my emotions for profit. Needless to say I am now in the market for a new veterinarian that has a little compassion. read more

MISSED CANCER DIAGNOSIS!!!! If I could give 0 stars I would. About a month and a half ago I called to make an appointment for my 2 cats. One cat was losing weight and I had suspected a UTI. My other cat just needed a routine check up. When I called to schedule the appointment and tried to get a procedure range, they said it probably wouldn't be over 100 for everything, as one was a returning patient and they said they would waive the fee for the new one. When I get there I waited about 30 minutes past my scheduled appointment for a room... When I finally get in the room, it is just a small table and the room is filthy, had animal hair everywhere. I know this is a vet so animal hair is bound to be scattered around. But it looked like the room hadn't been cleaned at all. Not to mention they kept the doors open so my poor cats were terrified with all the noise and commotion. The vet tech was young and just by how she was conversing with me thought I was young too, which bothered me. I was not expecting to have my cat owning skills questioned by someone probably 9 years younger than me. Anyway, I explain that my cat is losing weight and it is worrying me, she was peeing all over the bed so I thought she might have a UTI and she is getting older. She goes and talks with the vet. But the vet never comes in to talk with me. I've had my cats for 8 and 5 years. I've been to numerous vets over the years, not once did a vet not come in to speak with me. So I was kinda off put at that. So this is what the vet tech old me, like a messenger if you will. That she is probably getting older, cats lose weight, it's normal, or she has a tape worm. I was appalled. Then with my other cat, she has always had bowel movement issues and she was being a butt scooter. She told me that I just needed to wipe her after every bowel movement and I needed to be more careful because she was getting a little pudgy. (Don't forget this is all the vet tech is telling me). So she had some feces stuck on her and they offered to shave around her bottom to help, I told them no it's fine I will bathe her and wash her. They said "WE CAN DO IT FREE OF CHARGE", so I said that is fine then. So in the end, my one cat did have a uti, she got fluids and a urinalysis and some medication. My other cat got a "check up" and the vet TECH said I needed to change food and got a little haircut around her bottom. They both got rabies vaccines. I asked the vet tech how much it would all be and she said about $90, she even showed me the projected itemized bill...I signed it. I left my cat to get fluids. Hours later I don't hear anything back so I call them and they said oh yeah she is ready and she does have a uti, we will give you the medication for her, "it'll be about $200". I was SHOCKED. I told them what? how can that be?? So I go pick her up and I explain to them they the tech said a different price and instead of making a scene I just paid. I requested a bill of sale and saw other charges (like getting my cat shaved even though it was supposed to be free). I was so upset. So why am I writing this? Because my cat that was losing weight actually had cancer that was all around her intestines. Because I never spoke to the vet during this appointment at Belleview Vet Hospital, I don't know to what extent the vet examined her or if someone ever examined her at all. I found out about her cancer because she was losing even more weight and I had suspected her UTI came back. So I took her to a different vet on Wednesday and the next day I had to put her down because she was suffering. Now I am not saying Belleview could have treated her cancer, but they could have seen it and I could've made a decision then instead of her suffering like she did during her last few days here with me. read more

I am new to the area and it was my first time. After scheduling my yearly dog appt I started to read reviews about waiting in the car until the appt etc..etc...What people didn't write was about the beautiful property this sits on and when I checked in which took no time at the outside desk I walked around and enjoyed what I saw. They call you when they are ready for you so the wait did not seem long at all. The visit was fine. If you choose to sit outside the chairs are under an overhang and you are shielded from the sun and there are also fans. I would choose to be outside awaiting their call. I enjoyed it. read more

The staff is so sweet. I took my baby girl in to get cremated and they were quick and efficient with everything. I love it there.

First, you have to sit outside or in your car with your pet even with an appointment, you will have a 30 minute or longer wait. Their inside lobby is very small and we were told by the front desk staff they prefer all clients to stay outside to reduce the number of conflicts between owners, staff and pets. Our dog was diagnosed with an ear infection by the vet. The treatment plan was to pack both ears with ear medicine by the vet tech with a recheck in two weeks to repack both ears. We were not given a leaflet, instructions or any information about the ear medicine. We were not verbally told by the staff of any possible side effects or to watch for certain behavior changes. When we returned home after the recheck and with the medicine packed into his ears again, he immediately vomited and went to sleep. The next day he wasn't acting himself, he was barely able to keep his eyes opened. I spoke to the vet's front office staff member and she said it wasn't anything to worry about. The next day I called the vet's office and asked to bring him because he wouldn't open his eyes. She said they couldn't get me in but I could pay extra and bring him in as a walk-in on the next day. I ended up googling the ear medicine listed on my receipt "Claro Otic Solution." I read it had a dangerous side effect causing cornea abrasions to a dog's eyes. I paid the extra money and brought my dog in and told the vet what I had read online. He said he had heard about the side effects but had not yet seen it in his practice. My dog had cornea abrasions in both eyes. The vet said he wanted to see him again 3 days. When I checked out I asked for an appointment in 3 days per the vet's instructions and the staff member said not to worry, we would get him in. I called on the second day to find out what time to bring him the next day and was told their was no opening. I explained the vet wanted to see him because of his eye injuries and the young girl put the supervisor on the line who firmly said we do not have any openings. Since I had a shot appointment for my other pet, I would be switching and bringing in my injured pet. There is nothing nice I can say about the front desk manager. She is rude both to clients and staff. After several weeks of the two vets trying to treat his eyes unsuccessfully we were referred to a traveling eye specialist who would meet us outside the vet's office. We had two visits with eye specialist and before the third visit our beautiful little dog's left eye exploded in the early morning. It was horrific, his lens was on top of his head in his fur, there was blood and tissue all over his tiny face. We tried calling the BVH emergency number but go no answer (we did get a returned call 2.5 hours later.) We rushed over to the Ocala Emergency Vet but they took one look at him and told us we needed to take him to UF Small Animal Hospital in Gainesville. The vet at UF removed the rest of his eye. He had his stitches removed a few days ago by a our new vet and is doing well. Separate incident, I found a separate 4 cent charge on my credit card from BVH and when I called and spoke to the rude front desk manager, her response was it was a mistake but they didn't know whose account the girl made the mistake on since each charge has a corresponding receipt. I asked her credit my credit card for the erroneous 4 cent charge. Of course she did not credit my card as I requested, instead she took it upon herself to place a 4 cent credit to my file. Our other dog got his teeth cleaned they recommended further testing which we agreed. We called back two days later to see if the pathology report was in and we were told it was in but only Jaime could tell us what it said so they would have her call us back. Another day passed and no call back. I called again and again was told Jaime was busy and she would call us back. Still no call back the next day. The girl at the front desk said she was sorry but she left Jaime a note on her desk to call us back. On the sixth day my husband called and said if Jaime did not call us back today, he was coming in person to get the results. Surprisingly, Jaime called back and said the report came in showing he has an infection and needs additional antibiotics. So basically days went by where he could have been on the additional antibiotics to treat his infection all while we were waiting for a call back. Yes, we have changed vets. Our new vet treats us with respect and the staff is friendly and polite. Total opposite of what we experienced at BVH. If I had googled the BVH vet first, we would have never taken our pets there in the first place, after reading about this vet being found guilty of hiring two boys to burn down a barn with 12 horses inside, actually made me sick to my stomach. read more

I had the need form specific veterinary service for my dog so I called and verified they did it. They told menyes, but my dog had to be evaluated first for health. I made an appointment and drove one and a half hours there. They do not let you into the office, you have to check in at an outside desk. no one was there. I rang the bell and waited 10 minutes for someone to check me in. You have to sit in the car our outside and they call you to come in. I sat outside with my dog, but began to regret it because it was getting warm. One hour after my appointment time, I was headed to my car and air conditioning when the phone rang and they said I could come in. I did, and the doctor came in, looked at my dogs teeth, ears and checked her heart. She said, she is healthy, and I said what procedure I neded. She said, you have to talk with the surgical tech for that, she schedules it. The nurse came in and said, " she is busy, she will call you when office hours end." I drove the hour and a half home and waited. No call. No call the next day so I called and requestd to speak with the right person. They said Morgan would call me back that day. No call. No call the next day. I gave up and called a friend who helped me find a vet who could do the procedure my dog desperately needed. Today, one week later, Morgan just called. She said "what do you want." I told her I was disappointed in their lack of courtesy and I wanted to give her feedback. Morgan hung up on me!!!!! So much for caring about pet patients or their owners. Totally rude. The office is tiny, with no room to move and dirty. I am so glad I never heard from them or let them touch my dog. They are rude and uncaring. You are jeopardizing your pet through their negligence in calling back or following up. Horrible! read more

We have 8 rescues. We were with Belleview Vet for almost a year. Spent a small fortune. Took in a 10 year old pup. Many health issues. They recommend some teeth extractions. Did bloodwork. Did not say she wasn't well enough or give us any risks. A week after the extraction she passed away. During that week we called 2 times asking about her bloodwork. Told they were busy they will get back to us. No one got back to us. We knew something was different after the procedure she was just not right. When she passed we were devastated, not only did we just lose our girl but were taken for almost $500 to do a high risk procedure. And not once telling us any risk. I'm a reasonable person mostly, I understand every surgery has some degree of risk. But this could have been prevented. She obviously was not healthy enough. And we still wouldn't know without her bloodwork. Please no advice or comment. Be kind to one another. I'm just telling my story. We called asking to speak to the Vet. Was told the message would be passed on. Left another message and we'll...It's been almost a month. Still waiting What happened to Vets? Not all. But when they don't send their clients out sympathy card,if for any other reason, for losing a client. It's just human decency and good business. Nice job Belleview Vet! Way to care. I called up on a Saturday morning. They were able to take the dog in on an emergency walk in so that made me happy. We waited in the parking lot for three hours. That is still OK as they were extremely busy and we were glad that they could fit us in. My dog was sick, it had lost 12 pounds and was drinking an excess amount of water. We brought them a stool Stample and they took the dogs blood and ran tests. Based on the bloodwork they told us that our dog was dying, she was in extreme pain and we should put it down. The diagnosis was liver cancer. Thank God we elected to walk away and get a second opinion. We took it over to Florida State animal Hospital in Gainesville. Did a proper work up. They had the facilities there to properly diagnose the dog. They did an ultrasound and a biopsy of the dogs liver. Guess what no liver cancer. No cancer of any type. This should be a cautionary tale. Always get a second opinion. The Bellevue Animal hospital failed miserably and almost cost my Family our loving companion Bella. read more

So I feel sure they will be treated well and neither any of my pets or I have ever felt afraid that the people helping them will not do their very best to make their visit as safe and pain free as possible. "Supervised Neglect" and their only intention is to herd sick pets and their owners like a cattle call and keep you coming back for more charges. My mother has a two year old dog and was given an allergy shot due to what looked like hives all over. I paid $400. Then weeks later the dog is covered in hives again. When my mom called to make appt she asked if visit was covered since it's a follow up they recommended. The girl told her no and with that never cared about scheduling her dog nor gave any options. I called next day and spoke to Eddie and explained the situation. He condescendingly said "what I'm hearing is all your concerned about is the money and your sick mom" I was appalled at his sarcastic insensitive implications and only offered me a 4 hour wait, $55 emerg fee and extra fees. This business should be stopped from taking advantage of old people and their sick animals and make them wait. Do your research about the owners. Don't expect ethical caring fair medical practices here. They kill animals and its public information. Eddie also told me" You've got a problem". Personally attacking my character. I've been going here a few years. They have always been professional and efficient. We recently had our dog fixed with them-they took the time to educate me on what they were doing, reassured me that she would be cared for, and answer all my questions. No one has been rude-and I'm not an 'easy' customer. I ask questions, and I don't buy everything they sell-but they have been polite every time. Overall the waiting room is pretty clean. Remember, you are your pet's advocate-don't be afraid to ask questions and educate yourself before you let anyone do things to them-necessary or unnecessary. We have lived in The Villages for 17 years and have switched vets many times because either the care was poor or they over charge for all their services. Since coming to Belleview we have gotten great care and the prices are reasonable. Two weeks ago we lost our beloved Maggie. Maggie was the most loved and cared for then any dog owner I know. Maggie was my husband's little girl. When she was dying I call and they told us to bring her right in. When we got there they had us bring her back and put us in a room. I appreciate their kindness and understanding during the process. The only other experience close to this was when a friend asked me to go with her when it was her dogs time. The experience was totally different and shocking. I can never thank Belleview enough for their understanding and sympathy. Belleview, you are well worth the 30 minute drive. read more

I made an appointment for 10:30 am 4-9-18, they never kept it, they did tell me they were 2-3 hours behind until i asked, the staff just lets you sit and wait, then charges 300-600 dollars for bad service, this is the 2nd & last time I will go there ! The staff is incredibly rude, environment is chaotic, wait times are long and I have never taken my dog there without being made to feel inadequate as a pet owner. Okay, here is what happened. We waited 30 minutes to get into Vet. They take him and weigh him, come back and say he is 85.4lbs. The Vet and his MA proceed to spend 20 minutes telling me that I am an unfit mother and shouldn't be raising a EB. That I might just as well take a gun and put it to his head because I am slowly killing him. Then they proceed to tell me to feed him only once a day and only put enough dry food in ONE hand. THAT IS IT for the day. All I kept saying was "okay, Okay" Inside I was fuming. after hearing this for 20 minutes and then him saying, "I am going to report you for animal abuse because you are killing him and you are an unfit mother". I looked at him and said "FUCK YOU", slammed open the door and Gator and I walked out. I cried the whole way home as I was on the phone talking to my other half. I am calling the Vet board on Monday and hopefully something will come of it. Never in my life have I been so angry at someone. It was all I could do to NOT slap that piece of shit. ‼ VET KICKED MY DOG.... Took my dog here today for the first time. We just recently moved here from Indiana and needed a good vet. They had great reviews but when we took my dog here I told them he doesn't like some people and they said that's fine. Then the doctor KICKED MY DOG. My dog was muzzled and there was no way for him to bite anyone. He pressed his face on her leg and was barking. I was in shock when she did this to my dog. Then she said "can you turn him to the wall, this is not cool" seriously? My dog is 4 and I've taken him to the vet all the time in the past and NEVER had this bad of an experience with his old vet. I will not be coming back. And I also don't know if this is normal but they asked to take him to get him weighed with out us because he might act better. We said that's fine. They brought him back in and said he did great. They then said they did everything that we came for when they took him out if the room. I wasn't told they were doing that. They did an exam and everything with out my dogs owners being there. To me that's not ok, unless he's going for X-rays or surgery the animal needs to be where their owner can see what you are doing. You wouldn't want someone taking your child to "weigh" them and then the doctor comes back saying everything is done. Uncalled for. read more

They are the most loving group of people, with huge hearts toward my babies. It is never a fit with my boys when it's time for an appt. We are always treated like family. read more

BEWARE OF PRICE GOUGING! Our family has been doing business with this clinic for 40 years because we always trusted we were getting the best price. When it came time to put our dog down after 14 years we were heartbroken. I called the office to set up an appointment and was told that the price would be $188 for me to be in the room with her. Now keep in mind that we were taking her home to be buried so no cremation services were needed. I could send my pet in to the room alone for $88. After speaking with several other people we realized this was not right. I called up another local vet that had been recommended and was told I could be in the room and take my pet home to bury for $30! I was appalled and called the office manger to talk about the issue. She was so rude and hung up on me. I will never go here again when I get another pet. My mom had her dogs knees replaced and was charged $2000 at this office when in fact other vets charge $800. So beware of prices. The vets are good, but prices are high. read more
