I took the entry-level pump shotgun class last night. I had only ever shot handguns before and was looking forward to actually shooting a 12 ga. shotgun I had purchased over a decade ago and never shot. The first two hours were spent in the classroom with information presented on gun/range safety, types of shells, patterning, etc. The instructor was ex-military and had SWAT and ballistics experience, and it was evident he knew what he was doing/talking about. He also took questions throughout and provided thoughtful answers. We spent a fair amount of time on how to disassemble our guns and clean/oil them. The instructor and another fellow helped everyone with this. We went to the range for approximately the last hour of class and were shown how to load ammo and hold our guns (along with more range safety training). We shot several dummy rounds before starting the live fire rounds at paper targets (both single and quick succession firing). Then back to class for a wrap-up/survey (I left a very brief survey page, but expounding on it here). My personal objective for attending the class (I am a female, by the way), was familiarization with my gun (how it works, proper way to hold it, ammo selection (which type for which use, as there are so many kinds/sizes), cleaning/disassembly, how it feels to shoot it, safe handling, etc.) These objectives were all met, and while I definitely need to work on my stance and aim so I'm actually doing what the instructor said to do and not just trying to do it, I feel so much more comfortable now with that gun than before the class. Night and day difference. The class was definitely money well spent. The only nitpick I have is that we were required to purchase 60 rounds of ammo (20 00, 20 #4, and 20 slugs. After shooting the dummy rounds, we only had time to shoot 10 live shots, so I have 50 expensive rounds left. I don't know if/when I will ever shoot that gun again, so ??? I probably should try to make some time to practice, as an hour plus of loading/shooting training for a brand new long gun shooter isn't enough time for any degree of proficiency, but I think requiring 5 rounds (or max 10), of each type of ammo would be better (not 20!) or extend the shooting time and add a short break to shoot more. All in all, an excellent class and instructor, and I definitely recommend it for anyone new to pump shotgun shooting. Cheers! read more

There are not enough words to express how great it was to have my private lesson with Erik. As someone with limited pistol training, Erik was an ideal and experienced teacher who from the start had great energy, attitude, and encouragement. I chose to do a private with him and would highly recommend such a course from any considering it. The ability to move at a pace that aligns with one's progress during the session means you get so much more for the time with only a slight amount of payment more...and it is well worth it. Thanks for the response but you justifying your cost to repair is understandable. However if your instructor was able to count 5 shots hitting the ceiling I'm sure he could find a balance between hovering and intervening in the favor of the customer to prevent this. Not intervening is in your favor as it adds to your budget to repair an asset you actually depreciate and has tax benefits Needless to say you have moved from putting the customer first to putting your bottom line first read more

I took the 3-hour Entry Level Handgun course with Brett yesterday and found his instruction engaging, empathetic, and highly informative. Brett struck the perfect balance between presenting the fundamentals of firearms safety and regulation alongside the reality of their use, while keeping the energy fun and light with some well-placed dad jokes. I was surprised at how relaxed I felt throughout this course, especially during the live firing practice. Although I have previous experience with firing shotguns in outdoor environments, I've always felt anxious around handguns and indoor ranges. They are professional and safety seems to be a top priority -- they are also welcoming and respectful. Our instructor was very knowledgeable but added lots of humor so it was not dry at all. as an Asian American, living in the U.S. today is a bit challenging, to say the least. I decided to apply for a CPL last month to protect myself and my family, and wanted to learn more about it to become a responsible/law abiding citizen when it came to CCW. Today was my first CCW Primer class w/ Brett Bass. I couldn't have asked for a better instructor. He was very engaging, had lots of real life examples and the class wasn't boring at all. 2 hours just flew by and i wish it was longer. Thank you, Brett. I've been to the West Coast Armory for shooting a few times before, but didn't realized that Bellevue Gun Club is located within the same exact building. It's actually under one ownership, they just divide it into 2 different names with the West Coast Armory being the shooting range and Bellevue Gun Club providing instructional classes. I've taken a few classes here and it has been very helpful. Julia and Colleen has been my instructor and they both have extensive knowledge and patience to help us. What I really like about the classes here are that there's ladies only classes so it's less intimidating. I left feeling more comfortable handling a gun than when I blindly went in and shoot before, and it's great to get these fundamentals down from the beginning to not build bad habits. Range is nice, and instruction and material were useful, but instructor did make anti-trans comments, which is unfortunate since we're all just here to enjoy our second amendment rights and should be able to put our personal politics aside. I was looking to learn about a rifle I was considering buying at the Bellevue Gun Club (West Coast Armory). The facilities are impressive. Huge selection of gear with numerous and knowledgeable employees. Terrie at BGC was able set me up to take an introductory course for the specific rifle to help decide on the best type and features. Had a private lesson here with my partner and really enjoyed it/learned a lot. Honestly, I know nothing about guns and/or shooting, so I was relieved when the instructor started us out in a class room on basics of gun anatomy, safety, laws, scenarios, etiquette, etc. The facility itself is super clean and welcoming. Got to check out the gun range and experiment 6 or so handguns, figuring out which ones I was best with. Another plus is that parts of the firing range is actually made of recycled materials. Gun culture is not something I thought I'd ever find myself drawn to, but our instructor was super informative and answered all our questions candidly and helpfully. Bellevue Gun Club has a great philosophy towards inclusivity, confidence and empowerment (and not just that guns are a stereotypical tool for x section of the population)... something I can definitely get behind. That message definitely carried throughout the session and helped me feel welcome and more comfortable around firearms. Overall, learned a lot about firing a gun and definitely came out feeling more confident with firearm use and safety. read more

I took entry level with Chris and fundamentals with Josh. Both instructors were different in their sense of humor and teaching style but both were still very knowledgeable on the techniques and gun laws and funny in their own ways. I appreciated them adding the humor to make something that could be nerve wracking more fun. Entry level was more about gun laws but I still got to shoot three rounds of five bullets. For fundamentals, Josh gave a quick refresher of entry level and went more into depth of aiming and stance. We shot five rounds of ten bullets with one-on-one guidance, which was really fun. Shooting was great but I found it super useful to learn about analyzing shots on the targets. I was struggling with my grip and even put my bullets in backwards but the instructors were patient with me and didn't try to make me feel bad about it, which I really appreciated. I learned a lot from both classes and look forward to going back to the range to practice and maybe even taking a private class. The rest of the staff were also really nice and I got a very professional feel from the range in general. read more

Don't mistake this for West Coast Armory North. They are two different companies. I mistakenly booked a class at West Coast Armory thinking it was West Coast Armory North. I called and spoke to the range master and explained that my friends couldn't find the same class that I was in and at no time did she ever say it was a different company or it was a different location. I didn't find out until I went the day of my class to the wrong location.I asked Bellevue gun club for a refund explaining it was clearly a scheduling error. They were not willing to refund the total amount I paid. Be careful when booking classes , i do not recommend this place. read more

I don't normally leave negative reviews unless the experience is absolutely awful. Had a beginners class in summer 2020. It was fine so I wanted to schedule some private lessons to learn some drills. Unfortunately, they cancelled on us 1 hour before the lesson and offered no apology. They just said they didn't have enough staff to cover the night but shouldn't they have known it earlier? We scheduled the lesson one month before. I understand things happen but the lady on the phone was simply rude. She sounded like she didn't care about customers and even hung up on me. Terrible customer service. We will never go back. read more

My fiancé and I went there as a Valentine's Day activity and I felt very disrespected and belittled by the employees there simply because I'm a woman. Anytime they'd want to talk to me they'd look at my fiancé and say "she needs to..." or "I'm gonna tell her.." like I'm a child. Your employees need to learn some etiquette and to respect women, I'm not a child, you don't have to look at my fiancé for answers when it comes in regards to myself. read more

The gun range is very well run. Safety is FIRST! The staff are helpful and knowledgeable about the guns they have and trying to help you find what you are looking for. I have taken 2 classes. I went there for a Handgun Fundamentals course. I had never shot a gun before. The instructor was very enthusiastic about teaching and competently did so. On the practical side, I was taught how to operate a handgun patiently and after that the instructors managed to convey the nice basics on how to aim, shoot, and determine why a shoot possibly deviated. I can't say enough about the classes at Bellevue Gun Club. Every single class I have taken as superseded my expectations. Every instructor is highly qualified and have always left feeling more confident in my skills of firearm handling and what I need to work on. I recently took the intermediate handgun class. I was honestly a bit nervous to learn to draw from a holster, but by the end of the class I couldn't believe how much more confident I felt handling my gun, assessing scenarios, and handling misfires. I'm a middle aged woman who recently took a Handgun Fundamentals class taught by Chris Kahrs. I have taken a few classes at BGC, and all the instructors were excellent. Chris is no exception. He is extremely knowledgeable and professional and he gave an outstanding class. In addition to teaching us well, his teaching style is lively and engaging. He helped me a lot in the shooting part of the lesson. I am very much a beginner (and a slow learner!), but I definitely made progress in his class. I have no other gun club experience to back up my next statement, but I believe the instructors at BGC are the cream of the crop. I don't see how they could be improved upon. Call In advance for ammunition they told me they could only sell me two boxes of my ammunition and when I showed up they said they would only sell it to me if I was shooting that day waste of gas waste of time. I'm ex special operations and I've been to ranges all over the world. Who goes to the range to shoot two boxes of ammunition anyway I'll never be back. One star is generous. read more
