LOVELY good sized rooms with everything that you ever want in it. Beds are soo comfy you feel like your staying with a lovely auntie. Then morning came and we where treated to the most amazing cooked breakfast also had a full range of cereals as well (not to mention endless toast). Its just a short walk in to town where you pay out of your nose to stay the night. It is Just the perfect little B&B

It could have had a fun Shakespeare-based name like so many of the neighbors, but I suppose all the good ones are already taken. Oh, and the shower was a bit small. Building - is old. Cute but old. That could work but it seems it doesn't get the TLC it needs and instead just spotty fixes here and there. Difficult to drag a luggage through and very low ceilings. Definitely not accessible for anyone differently abled. Room - dingy looking and small. Size is fine since I was only in my room evenings and early mornings but I felt uncomfortable getting comfortable because the old carpet, upholstered chairs and questionable blanket made me wonder how clean the room was. A/C - doesn't allow you to adjust it at all. Bed - hard and uncomfortable with flat pillows and no sheets. A comforter only and a dingy throw blanket that I wouldn't touch. Amenities- shampoo and body wash with some bar soap is provided but that's it. No water bottles provided. Tea bags and a kettle but when I went to make a cup of tea and poured the milk packets in I ended up pouring in spoiled milk. So no cup of tea for me. There is a fridge so you can fill it up on your own. Bathroom - tub that didn't drain and backed up during first use; was quite gross. The staff was quick to fix it but due to old plumbing it is still quite slow to drain. Mold In the shower on the wall and some questionable stains on the ceiling (which is quite low and I am only 5'3"). The tub walls are high which is a feat for my short legs to get in and out of and the shower is quite narrow. A cold faucet and a hot faucet in the sink - I get that it has old world charm but it's just not practical anymore. Ground floor room (concerning to me since I'm a single female traveler but I made due) and when i came back to my room after a long day out, the window in the room was left wide open by the cleaning staff. Total safety concern at that point. Secondly, bugs had gotten into the room. I had to deal with a few months and crawly things which made their way in through the open window (with no screen). Food - Breakfast starts at 7. Food is very good but it's a late start for those who may be here for work as I am. And the restaurant closes at 10. I arrived at 10 from the airport and was stuck with no food options other than sandwiches which I couldn't eat due to being celiac. The staff was very helpful in helping me to find a take away place that was still open to deliver and gave me a pot of tea while I waited. I did not get to eat any other meal beside breakfast. The buffet is minimal so make time for the hot breakfast if you want something substantial. Two stars for the location and the lovely staff but I wouldn't stay here again. Really wish I had a portable cup of tea right now...

It is about a 20min walk from the guest house into Stratford by the Canal. The rooms were a good size and had two twin beds in each room. Each room had its own bathroom as well. The bathrooms are small, especially the shower stalls, but were fine with plenty of hot water. The rooms were cozy and so nice to come back to after spending the day in bustling Stratford. The decor is dated (very traditional and antique) The owners make sure to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. Costs about $80 a night and includes breakfast.

Of course for Shakespeare. We could walk from Victoria Spa Lodge (the heritage of this property dates to The Queen) - it is a charming and comparatively less expensive property and we truly enjoyed the graciousness of the entire staff during our 2 day stay. One of the highlights of our stay was to include a river tour....we are water lovers. The River Avon is delightful, almost beyond compare. Morning breakfast is almost 'family' style. We truly enjoyed meeting the other guests of the Lodge who hailed from Sweden, Germany, Italy and the US. In a way, we're sorry that we over-spent our time at breakfasts which took away from the opportunity to be out in the town and visiting the Gardens. Next time we will certainly devote more than 2 days in the Cotswalds.

We visit Kenilworth fairly regularly as a very good friend lives here. We sometimes stay with her,…read morebut on the odd occasion when we don't, we like to vary the local B&B's we stay-in. We stayed at Ferndale House 12mths ago and really liked it. Clean, friendly welcome, great cooked breakfasts and reasonably priced. Now, all of the above also apply to The Abbey Guest House 'Hotel' (not quite sure where the 'Hotel' reference comes from on the sign outside as this is definitely, in nice way, a cosy 'B&B!'), but there just seemed to be something missing. The afternoon tea we were welcomed with from Darren was truly, very appreciated (tea made in the pot and a tasty range of biscuits including an orange club - when was the last time you ate a club biscuit?!) and gave us a great first impression, but somehow this B&B lacks the warmth and atmosphere of 'The Ferndale' around the corner. Our twin and single rooms were cosy, clean and comfortable with firm mattresses and some lovely touches with throws and cushions, but a couple of small attentions to detail were missing; mis-matching decor and soft furnishings work well if done properly, although all rooms were attractive, a good eye for bringing everything together was somewhat missing, cheap toilet paper in tired, plastic dispensers in the en-suite brought home memories of shiny, cheap paper in my high school toilets! Brown limescale/mildew build-up around the shower and tiles was unfortunate. Both areas are very easily fixable and if dealt with, would have drawn our attention to the better aspects of the Abbey Guest House, which made for a comfortable stay. The iPod docking station built into the flat screen TV in our room was inspired for example and the freshly cooked breakfasts with (award winning!) sausages and bacon supplied by a local butcher were a real treat and made us feel good for eating locally sourced ingredients. Homemade blueberry jam put other B&Bs to shame with their plastic squares of marmalade and Robinsons jam. Toast and fruit-filled jam to follow a good cooked brekkie was definitely a winner! The fact this B&B is so central and only steps away from the High St make it very convenient for a night out in town, just maybe pick-up your own softer loo paper from Waitrose over the road before checking in!
