We so far have been able to pay our bills but Id think many low income folks cannot and forgo necessary care. A vet that has worked there and has since left, Dr.Kramer, saved my dog's life seven years ago. We have been seeing Dr. Glinka most recently. As a clinician he is acceptable, but he is extremely condescending. My husband dealt with him until our last appointment where we took my dog home and he died right through the door. We took my dog back for cremation pick up. Dr. Glinka was again, very clinical, but severely lacked any type of sensitivity or bedside manner. He didn't even shake our hands in a gesture of condolence. My dog was never nervous at the vet, but shook when Dr. Glinka saw him. I had taken my cats to Bellport animal Hospital for many years. When I reached out to them regarding my older cat, they told me on a Friday afternoon that they would not be able to see him until Monday. This was after I explained that he was lethargic. After speaking with them, I had to call around to find a Vet's office that would be able to see him sooner than four days later. We were able to contact the emergency veterinary hospital on middle country Road and while we were driving there, my cat died in my arms. Unfortunately, this one awful experience changed everything. Don't recommend. My dog in over 13 years had never been afraid of a vet and she did not want to go into her exam. There is a male doctor though who talks over you and is condescending. A vet tech just jabbed a needle into my dog's front paw to take blood and my normally calm dog was disturbed and squirmed to get away. Do better. read more

My dog hurt his paw last month, his vet didn't have any openings for 2 months to see him . A friend recommended this hospital and they saw him that week . The vet got on the floor with my dog ! Speaks volumes ! My dog went lethargic this week , They made room for him that morning to be seen . They are taking such good care of him and also keeping me comfortable as I ugly cry the whole time . I will never trust anyone again with my dog but this team . Under the auspices of Bellport Animal Hospital, my worst nightmare was realized. My 7 year old Pomeranian Piper died unexpectedly while being treated at their recommended 24/7 medical facility, Atlantic Coast Veterinary Hospital on October 19, 2019. This happened nearly one year after my other dog Dominic died while in the care of the VMCLI. After my disappointing relationship with St. Francis Hospital for Animals in Oakdale, an associate of mine recommended the services of Dr. Glinka at Bellport Animal Hospital. The first thing I relayed to Dr. Glinka was my horrific experience trying to obtain the proper veterinary care for my late dog Dominic. I was explicit with my expectations of Dr. Glinka as Piper's veterinarian and my need for a veterinarian who practiced progressive treatment and communication. Although Dr. Glinka is an affable, conventional veterinarian, he did not aggressively provide the necessary treatment Piper required given the severity of her collapsing trachea and its complications. I did everything I was told to do by the Bellport veterinarians; I maintained Piper's twice daily medication as prescribed by Dr. Glinka prior to this last incident. When Piper's condition became acute, I brought her to Atlantic Coast Veterinary Hospital for an electrocardiogram as indicated by Dr. Medema and I began treatment with the nebulizer. I admitted Piper to a 24/7 veterinary hospital as recommended by Dr. Kramer when Piper stopped eating and didn't take her oral medication. I was misled by Dr. Medema who said Piper would survive this episode, then learn she had died 72 hours later. I am disappointed that Dr. Glinka did not tell me earlier that Piper would need to go on the nebulizer immediately to help improve her respiratory condition, as well as recommend a respiratory veterinary specialist rather than present it as an option. Apparently, Bellport Animal Hospital is much like many of the common multi-veterinary staffed facilities, it is an HMO type of medical facility without an invested interest in the individual patient. It seems long gone are the exceptional veterinarians who fully involved themselves in their practice and in the personal care of your animal family member. read more

First of all, I called for an appointment and they told me to bring my dog in for a test because my dog was in heat. They then told me to bring her in on Thursday and gave me a different vet, other then the Vet we were using. Beinf that the vet had all the dogs records etc we have kept using the same Vet. So it was a surprise to me when they sprung upon me without my knowledge another Vet who labeled my dog as nervous. Yes a labrador has nervous energy when they are unfamiliar with the situation. They are smart that way. So yes nervous with this Doctor who for the test that he was admistering charged for a general checkup when she had a physical in August. Spoke with someone about this and said their Vet is available on holidays and weekends. Then something unrelated where dog had a growth on her chin which caused concern. Understandably being a good dog owner, I wanted it checked out. My response Doctor you want is unavailable. Of course, because of Covid, the doctors hours have been cut. I ended up taking her to the emergency room and they took a culture of the cyst. The Doctor did a culture to determine what it was. You mean to tell me my regular Vet couldn't squeeze me in after all the business I gave this office...then I am told all Vets are qualified in that office. Not the answer that I wanted to here. Buyer beware because after the pandemic, more concern in fouling losses then helping your dog! read more

We've been bringing our two cats and dog to Bellport for the last year after moving to Patchogue. The availability of appointments, including Saturday/Sunday and evening appointments is unparalleled to what's offered by other local vets. The front desk staff are both welcoming, compassionate and professional. All the doctors have left a positive impression on us, but most significantly, Dr. Glinka. Our beloved cat of 15 years was diagnosed with cancer and Dr.Glinka met with us and our sweet boy almost every two weeks, to make sure we understood exactly what we were facing, what our options were at each point and made what we felt was the most important statement in each visit; "If he were my cat...". It's hard to know if we are making the right decisions at all times for our furry companions, since they can't tell us how they feel, but we consistently feel support, compassion and professional direction from Dr. Glinka and the staff at Bellport. read more

My dog has chronic bronchitis. I was dog sitting near my parents' house last summer when she started acting lethargic and vomiting. The second I brought her in to Bellport animal hospital they knew what was wrong. They were able to treat her effectively and have been nothing short of amazing since then. For the last several years Snowstorm Bullies has been widely known as one of the most successful American Bully breeders in the country. We have opened seven (7) locations across the United States and two (2) additional camps in the United Kingdom. Our headquarters is based out of Long Island, NY, where we professionally train and breed more than 20 Champion-bred American Bullies. I have been a registered breeder since 1997, but I have been working with K-9's since 1984. On June 7, 2021, one of our adult males developed a cut on his front paw. His injury concerned us to the point that we sought medical attention from our "preferred" animal hospital, which was Bellport Animal Hospital, located at 250 Sunrise Hwy, East Patchogue, NY 11772. With 18 veterinarian services within a 5 miles radius, I decided to make Bellport Animal Hospital our dogs' emergency/first-aid clinic for the last 5 years. The following day (June 8th) we were able to land an appointment for our injured male, whose name is Junior. At Bellport Animal Hospital, Junior was seen by Dr. Nana Kramer. Dr. Kramer conducted an Aerobic Culture and Sensitivity procedure ($195), treated Junior's wounds ($25), and prescribed twenty 500-milligram pills of Keflix ($19). The office visit was $65. I had a credit balance of $10, therefore my total bill was $294. On June 11thJunior had a follow up appointment where she prescribed 16 more pills ($16.00), conducted a recheck exam ($50), and changed his wounds ($25). My total bill for this appointment was $91. On June 14, 2021, at 10:22 AM, I received a call from Dr. Kramer (while I was attending a business meeting) informing me that Junior's test results were in. She informed me that 3 different types of infections were found. As a remedy, she instructed us to discard the Keflix because 2 of the 3 infections found would be unresponsive to it. She proceeded to advise me that twenty-one 100-milligram pills of Zeniquin was the medicine needed to cure the infection and that Keflix is futile. She further advised me that Junior's new prescription would be ready for pickup in approximately 1 hour after our call. I advised my Kennel Master, Ms. Watkins, of this change and later that day she picked up the Zeniquin. I was charged $210 for twenty-one 100-milligram pills of the Zeniquin. As I tallied up the bills incurred over a 6-day period, I became increasingly unhappy about the $595 I spent to finally receive a viable cure. I understand office visits and the charge of treating wounds as they relate to animal emergency services in my local area. However, I was not happy that I purchased 2 separate bottles of Keflix and then being told to discard it the next business day. Keep in mind that the total charges for the Keflix was only $35 of the $595 spent, which is less than 6% of my total bill. The $35 spent was not the greater of my concern, but it was the principle of being stuck with any amount of unnecessary charges. Again, the office visits, the cost per hour spent bandaging and rebadging Junior's wounds, and the biopsy was an unavoidable charge because it comes with the territory; but I wanted a credit for the Keflix in the amount of $35. As you will read below, I didn't get a chance to make that request because I was highly disrespected and belittled by Dr. Nana Kramer at Bellport Animal Hospital. After my business meeting, at 1:57 PM I called to have a clear understanding as to why Junior was prematurely prescribed antibiotics that was purposeless to his condition. I spoke to a receptionist who refused to allow me the courtesy of speaking to Dr. Kramer (for whatever reason), so I requested to speak to someone in billing. Again, it was apparently her job to screen my call and/or to assist me with my concern, so I stated my concern directly and firmly. Because of my consistent and long-lasting relationship with Bellport Animal Hospital, I was cognitive of my tone, yet I intended to tactfully and respectfully address my concern. After stressing my concern to the receptionist, I asked her to have Dr. Kramer contact me regarding these prescriptions and charges. I was passionate, straightforward, and direct while speaking with the receptionist, but she identified me as being rude and obnoxious to Dr. Kramer. read more

I started going here when I moved to Patchogue 4 years ago, I recently adopted a puppy in March & can say I will not be going here ever again. I had no issues with standard shots given by Dr. Glinka, however, my 11 w/o puppy was getting recurrent UTI's - after a visit to Atlantic Coast Vet(my 1st of 2) in Bohemia I scheduled my follow up & we saw Dr.Kramer on this issue for the FIRST time. We went over her results & if she were to still have problems bring her back. 3 days after the antibiotics ended my pup was urinating blood again; we went in for our 2nd follow up & to get a urine culture aspiration directly from her bladder (1st of 2 done.) Results were E-coli keep her on meds;from here is where the problems start. Again 3 days after meds end UTI is back. So we do another culture(no aspiration this time) start another round of same meds. I get a call, still Ecoli but also possibly something else so we do a culture as well, about a week later Dr.K calls with results-just Ecoli keep on meds, if there is a problem again call her right away. Once again 3 days post meds she was urinating blood again... I called Bellport 1st thing in the morning & left msg for Dr.K ( my first of 3) almost 7 hrs later I call again, they put her on the phone - she suggests getting a urine aspiration directly from her bladder (a test she has had 2x now) oh! She says and you hear shuffling papers.. the next step would be for "them" to get an ultrasound, & "they" will have to schedule that.. I am getting upset by this point.. 1) she is the only vet my dog has seen for this issue & Her suggestion is a test that we've already had done twice... 2) who is them & they?? Them & they turn out to be an internist through one of the ER facilities 3) it is now 5pm, these facilities are closing it took me seven hours to get a return call- "well!" She said I called you the same day! By miracle I was able to get into Atlantic Coast the next day, they did the ultrasound told me her records would be sent over to my primary vet and they would contact me... at this point I wanted nothing to do with Bellport Animal Hospital or Dr. Kramer again, she was rude, she had an inappropriate attitude & considering I was the customer she should have been a little more pleasant & respectful. At this point I found another VET So I did not call to find out my results, & needless to say I never heard from them again in regards to her results( I did get multiple reminders for my next visit though. I called to have her files forwarded & told them I would no longer be going here because of Dr. Kramer. It's sad to say that it seems to me that Bellport Animal Hospital is only interested in the money &they certainly don't seem to be interested in the pets in their care. If you need shots & heart worm/flea tick meds, you should be ok here. If you need medical care - go somewhere else. read more

Very disappointed in the care my dogs received at Bellport Animal Hospital. On my first visit I met Dr. Cangro and was very pleased with his knowledge, respectfulness, and I felt he listen to my concerns and what I expected of the continued care of my dogs. The following visits where I only saw Dr. Kramer and Dr. Glinka showed that both veterinarians did not listen very well. In veterinarian care the owner speaks for the dog since the dog cannot express it's illnesses. As a dog owner of 25 years where I was with a previous veterinarian office for 20 years until they sold the practice, I expect to be listen to. From a very soft position, I begin stating that I do not understand why we were prescribed Keflix and then asked to discard it because it turned out to be unnecessary, but Dr. Kramer rudely cut me off. With an extremely discourteous tone, she asked me "How much do you know about microbiology and virology" (something of the sort) and I replied, "I know a little." Then she replied "Well apparently not so let me explain it to you". She then proceeded to throw a list of standard practices from the canine and human medical field regarding procedures and medical testing in the obvious attempt to belittle my intelligence. Then, she asked me if I understood, and I replied "I understand a little" after which she replied rudely to basically insinuate that I didn't know anything. I asked Dr. Kramer, "Why are you so defensive and rude?" She said, "Because you went off on my receptionist and you were very rude to her." She then began to elevate her tone and relay to me that her receptionist thought I was rude and too direct. She indicated that she did not appreciate how I spoke to her receptionist. Dr. Kramer raised her voice at me and constantly spoke over me as I attempted to enter a peaceful and respectful exchange with her. She seemed very irritated, short-tempered, and short-fused. She lacked professionalism and proper customer service skills when dealing with my concerns as a reoccurring customer. During the exchange, I informed her that I have 23 years of experience professionally breeding and training canines, so I am thoroughly aware of veterinarian services. She responded, "Well I have 25 years of being a doctor!" I found myself stuttering to stress my grievances because she kept cutting me off! I was appalled. Her aggressive reprisal towards me stressing my concerns was unethical as a doctor and as an agent in the customer service industry. Had I known that the receptionist would be this sensitive and Dr. Kramer would be this rude towards a loyal customer who had dumped tens of thousands of dollars a year into their business, then I would have chosen one of the other 18 animal clinics within a 5-mile radius of my breeding facility. Had I known that I could not freely inquire about the services and fees of Bellport Animal Hospital, then I would have sought services elsewhere. At the height of her crude and temperamental acknowledgements to my partial responses, I plainly asked her, "Would you like to have this conversation tomorrow when the tension between us has subsided?" I asked her this on 2 separate occasions, and she furiously replied, "No-- I'm fine talking about it now." I literally tried to end this unprofessional exchange, affording the opportunity for Bellport Animal Hospital to avoid a complete and utter service failure by restoring my confidence in them, but she insisted that we continue this argumentative path, which led to no resolution. I have decided to leave Bellport Animal Hospital with no intentions of ever returning or recommending them to the hundreds of customers I serve (in just Suffolk County alone). Why? Over a bad-mannered and condescending doctor and $35, which was less than 6% of my total bill. Nana Kramer, as a customer service agent in an industry with a long list of options, you really should have handled me differently. You called me with a high level of hostility, and you lashed out insults towards me because of how your receptionist perceived me. You were very rude and condescending towards me (as a reoccurring customer with a credit card on file) as you offered giving me a lesson in microbiology and virology. Therefore, allow me to kindly give you a lesson on customer service from a leadership standpoint. Even if I was rude, obnoxious, loud, aggressive, and disrespectful to your receptionist, then it is your job as a LEADER and a Doctor to listen to MY concerns, strengthen our rapport through empathy, lower your voice, respond as if all of your customers were watching, know when to give in, remain calm, avoid taking anything personal, and remember that you are interacting with a human. As a leader and/or a stakeholder at Bellport Animal Hospital, you failed to realize that your receptionist costs you money, but I (a reoccurring customer) bring you money. You failed Bellport Animal Hospital. You failed the customer service industry. You failed at having any respect on your name. You failed at retaining my business at Bellport Animal Hospital or any hospital that you are staffed at as a doctor. I had the unfortunate experience of having to euthanize my poodle today. It is a very difficult thing to do. However, the staff at Bellport Animal Hospital went above and beyond to make us comfortable and confident in our decision. They were extremely professional, sincere, caring, thoughtful and pleasant to be with at that difficult time. In the end, they wrapped her up comfortably taking the utmost care while doing so.Then proceeded to carry her to the car for us. It reminded me of a military ceremony without Taps. We have never been to this vet before but I would highly recommend them for this type of procedure. Also, if a low price is a priority for you, they will be hard to beat. It is our opinion that this animal hospital used to be great many years ago with Dr. Cangro and Dr. Pollack. It is also our opinion that Dr. Glinka was very arrogant, unprofessional and downright nasty when we explained our pets' serious problems that any vet should be able to help and address and 2 times he did not help our suffering pet. Unfortunately because in our firm opinion, our pet got poor treatment from the above stated vet, we had to go back for a second visit, and this time saw a Dr. Kramer, who in our opinion was even worse! It is our firm opinion, she had a really bad and inappropriate attitude as soon as she walked in the exam room and constantly contradicted everything we observed about our beloved pets' serious condition which she very inappropriately denied. She did not listen to us regarding our pets' problem, contradicted all the symptoms we of course stated and knew from living with our pet, and in our firm opinion, she was totally off-base with the inappropriate and very expensive testing she did and non-diagnosis. She recommended testing certain things in a blood test, then ''took back'' something she first stated to test! In our opinion, she was testing for bizarre things we KNEW our pet did not have because he was ALREADY tested for the test she ordered! What's worse, it's so far 6 days she did not call us back with the results of very expensive and we feel, very unnecessary tests she ordered!!!! It is our firm opinion, she made inappropriate, nasty comments to us the whole visit, was extremely insensitive to us and our beloved pet!!!! We were very upset with the terrible treatment our pet and us got from these 2 vets and would never never use them ever again! read more

The only reason I'm giving two stars is for the other vets that aren't dr. Kramer. I have been going here since I was little with my mom. They have always been friendly, caring and intelligent. Two days ago my younger cousin called me crying she was worried her dog was going to die. I sent my fiancé to drive her to the vet because I was in school. Mind you my cousin is 15, hysterical and scared for her dog. The lady dr. Kramer was the rudest person my fiancé had ever encountered. They even called me so I could hear the lady. I don't know if it's because she was talking to a kid that she thinks she can talk any type of way but it was completely unacceptable. When my aunt called to give the card info and asked what was going on the lady proceeded to say " how many people am I going to have to explain myself to, I'm not repeating myself again"... like are you kidding me? If that was your child you wouldn't have a problem with a dr repeating themselves if you were concerned about the issue at hand. Crazy, this lady definitely shouldn't be representing a company who for well over 20 years has been nothing but kind and caring. read more

Have been using Bellport since 1974! Have loved all of the vets and tech over the years. Just recently, our 7 year old dog needed double knee replacements and they called in a wonderful specialist to do the surgery. And the Bellport staff was there for us with all our questions and concerns after her surgery. read more

Once again I write DO NOT GO HERE!!! I can't even believe that I have to write this out right now. But I want to share what the last 24 hours have been like. Last night I took my dog Bella to the Bellport Animal Hospital, which I have had issues with in the past but I gave them the benefit of the doubt anyway. She was acting lethargic and not herself, etc. The vet did an exam, and advised that an ultrasound was needed to see if she had Pyometra which is a bad infection of the uterus. He tells us that this sonogram shows that she has it and that she needs emergency surgery to remove her uterus, that she may not make it through the surgery, and that it's probably a few thousand dollars, but that we need to do it right now or she is going to die. Like at that exact moment. He didn't even take her temperature at this point so I asked him to do so. She didn't have a fever. I'm thinking, my dog has an infection but no fever? Ok. Weird. He tells us that my dog wont make it through the night and we have to go to the 24 hr animal hospital to get this surgery right away. I freak out and we go with his word and get to the selden 24 hr emergency care. We start to tell her the symptoms and she says that the only real way to see if the dog has pyometra is to do an X-ray. (Which my regular vet did not do). I find that to be very strange that 2 vets say different things. THANK GOD I had a bad gut feeling and I call my aunt and ask her opinion. She tells me to leave the 24 hr place and to call her vet in the morning. Mind you, that the rest of the entireeee night I am a wreck thinking my dog is going to die overnight. I call the Hampton Veterinary Hospital in Speonk, they get me an appointment for today. We tell Dr Wen Bella's symptoms and he examines her. We then tell him what the previous vet had said. He does an X-ray and finds that my dog DOES NOT have pyometra, but that she is CONSTIPATED! Constipated from the antibiotics that the Bellport vet had given her two weeks ago! THATS ALL!!!! I almost put my dog into a life threatening surgery that she may not have come out of!!! Point of my story- Bellport Animal Hospital misdiagnoses pets, doesn't care at alllllll about their patients, and I'm wondering how much money he would have gotten if I went through with the surgery, does he have a kickback from the 24 hr place he sent us to? Not to mention the possibility of the costs after my dog died. This is by far the worst feeling and I hope that everyone out there with a pet doesn't just listen to the first opinion of a vet and goes for a 2nd opinion. I highly recommend Hampton Veterinary Hospital in Speonk. They were all so caring and kind and mortified that I was told she needed emergency surgery. They even said that most vets do this for the money, they tell you that your dog needs this emergency surgery so they can make more money. This is def the first time I am so grateful that I have trust issues and didn't listen to this jerkoff at Bellport. I hope you rot in hell sir. I first have to say that my animals were a patient here for many years. My miniature schnauzer, Buster was constantly seen here in his later years because he was diabetic and constantly getting urinary tract infections. His doctor was Dr. Cangro. Everybody loved Buster and he welcomed going there. I also had a cat named Boody and she had to be put to sleep from cancer, Dr. Wheat was very professional and new both my husband and I were upset and new we wanted cremation so she said don't worry about paying now, you can pay when you pick up the ashes here. I also had a cat pass on Christmas Day and that weekend I went to the old location and Dr. Pollack was there and he took her and said call the office on Monday and I'll see to it that she is cremated and the ashes returned to you. I also had my Dog, Buster go through surgery only to find out later that his kidneys were failing and had to be put down. Dr. Cangro did a payment plan for the surgery every month because he knew I didn't have the money and I was good paying it till it was paid off. All good and grateful so far. Now 6 years later, I go to the new place on Sunrise Highway with my cat of 18 years who past away in her sleep last night. My son and daughter in law went with me. The lady's at the front desk didn't recognize me even though I went to them for years. They apologized for my loss then told me that I would have to pay up front for the cremation $250 I said that I've been coming there for years and never had to do that. She told me that she was going to talk to Micala who was in the back I told her that she knows me to come out here. After several minutes of waiting, no doctor around Micaly never came out and I was told that is there policy. I could always go to the crematory directly and work out a payment plans or they could hold the cat till Friday till I paid. I couldn't believe what I was hearing!!!!!!! I walk in there so upset over the death of my beloved cat and now I'm being told sorry you have to pay first. I ended up calling my brother and bearing her in his back yard. I hope the owners see this and are ashamed of themselves. My son takes his cat there and after this experience he will not be going back there. I don't know what happened to their compassion but it is gone. I will forever remember the old place and the staff that was compassionate and caring and worked with you. God forbid you don't have the money to save your pet up front, they will turn you away.. Hopefully Dr. Cangro will see this and think twice about what the policy is.
