Alison Gillen and I are heartbroken as we had to say goodbye to our little girl Georgia yesterday. Georgia was the sweetest, most loyal friend anyone could hope for. From the day she came home with us in Feb. 2009, every day was better because she was a part of it. She took good care of Mom when she was still alive, and was never far from Allison or I during good times as well as tough ones. Sadly, Just over a month ago, We had to send our precious Zoey over the Rainbow Bridge. The kidney disease became too advanced, her legs were weakening, she was hard of hearing, and she was losing her vision. As difficult as it was to come to this decision, we needed to do this as peacefully as possible for Zoey. So we chose Laps of Love for at home euthanasia. As painful emotionally as it was for us, Dr Heather made this as peaceful as possible for Zoey. She explained everything had the patience with us crying, and treated by Trooper with special care. This is the most heart wrenching decision I ever had to make. My tea cup yorkie was almost 13. He had been such a faithful companion. He always followed me and was always found sitting on my lap. He had developed a multitude of medical issues. He was becoming more and more vocal, sometimes just softly whining when sitting still. He was snipping at visitors and was even growling at me when I was kissing him on his head. It became obvious he was often very uncomfortable. I hesitated to call to have euthanasia. One day I realized his pain was only going to get worse. I made the call and got Dee on the phone. Although this is a business I could hear the compassion through the phone. So I called Lap of Love in October for my German Shepherd K9-Kai who was losing control of his legs. After making an appointment and cancelling in October, I did the same at Xmas time and cancelled. Figuring I annoyed them and thinking I wouldn't get their services, I tried again on January 3rd and was happy to hear that they were sympathetic to my 3rd request. I had spoken to 4 different ladies during that 2 month time period and each and every one of them were sincere and calming. They sent Dr. Lotus Altholtz to my home who was super nice and explained the whole process, step by step. After Kai passed the Doctor gave us plaster cast foot prints as well as hair clippings. She then came in with a trundle that was decorated with flowers and a sheet gracefully draped over my partner and we carried him to her vehicle and said our goodbyes. Lap of Love made a heartbreaking experience so much better. Our beloved lab needed to be put to sleep. I called in the morning and a sympathetic and professional woman took all our information and was able to arrange for a same day visit. Dr Heather texted before arrival, showed up within the one hour window. She was wonderful with our pup and put her at ease. The vet stayed with us and was such a nice person and sympathetic. I'm sure they are kind to the animals of wealthy people however "love" shouldn't be in their name! If you "love" you should be more reasonable because you should do this out of love not money! My 7-8 lb dog would have cost me 900.00 ! It's painful enough having to go through this but to have to go through the pain of paying this cost makes it more difficult ! 450.00 is more than reasonable for your travel ! So friends if you have an extra 1000.00 sitting around then give them a call, if not, call your local vet, it's a 1/3 of the price! To be honest my love for animals is so real, if I was medically educated I would charge families just for the medicine (depending on size of dog) & cost for cremation, families go through enough having to lose their loved one read more

We had to unfortunately make the decision on 1/23/24 to send our chocolate lab Bear over the rainbow bridge. He had cancer and was bleeding out. It was the most difficult decision we have ever had to make. I contacted Laps of Love to hopefully assist us with this dreadful decision because he was 84 pounds of love, sick, bleeding out and car rides stressed him out so we wanted him to be comfortable in his home during his last moments. We made an appointment at 8:00AM for Dr. Heather to arrive at our home at 12 noon that same day. We waited for an hour while our Bear was suffering to contact them to ask if they knew when Dr. Heather would be arriving. They left me on hold for about 20 minutes only to return to the phone and tell me (their words not mine) there was a "glitch" in the system and our appointment was double booked and they were not going to make it to our house. Needless to say I was not happy with this response and told them that they needed to come asap to help Bear who was suffering. They told me my options were to basically put him in the car which they knew I did not want to stress him out any more or wait until they could figure out when they could come. My daughter waited on line while they tried to figure out their mistake while I tried frantically calling around to see if we could get someone there asap to help us and Bear. After what seemed like forever they returned to the line to say they would try to get there between 4:30pm-5:30pm did we want to take that appointment. I again explained to them that Bear was bleeding out and in distress and needed someone there asap. The only solution offered to me was to get an ice pack and wait or take him to a local vet. I will admit I had a few choice words for them at that point and called our vets at West Hills Animal Hospital (25 mins away) who showed us compassion and love and told us if we were able to get Bear in the car they would assist us in anyway possible. We were able to get Bear into the car and get him there thankfully and West Hills was wonderful. This was not the way I wanted Bear's last moments to be though. I did not want him stressed out and going into the car and that was explained to Laps of love more then once. The only thing they cared about and called me more than once while I was loading Bear into the car and saying my final goodbye to him was whether or not I wanted to keep their appointment 3 hours later! For a company who advertises how compassionate they are for our beloved pets they certainly showed no compassion for my Bear or my family. While he did thankfully have a peaceful goodbye and was surrounded by those of us who loved him the most, we were robbed of our final goodbye at home with him, the clay paw print, a clipping of his fur and for him to have a little less stress at home. To say I am devastated by the way I was treated is being kind. I will never recommend this company to anyone who has a pet that they love dearly, I will post all over social media and let every single person I come in contact with about my experience with Laps of Love. You should be ashamed of yourself . You cannot right this wrong! read more

I can't say enough good things about Lap of Love. We used them to put down our bulldog, and they made the entire process from A to Z as easy as one can make this. I had called around to several different companies the week we were booking, and the empathy Lap of Love had on the phone, and the simplicity of holding all our booking details was levels above the other company. They didn't charge anything until they had provided the services to us, after the fact (which was in contrast to other companies that wanted ti immediately charge me fully when I made the booking). When it came to the day of, Lap of Love sent only one person to the house (the vet, Dr Kelly Bosco) who was incredible. She was so compassionate, and it was so nice to have the personal space to grieve with just one doctor there with us. She explained everything, went at our own pace, gave us privacy and time when we needed it, and comforted us and our pup with the bedside manner we hoped. She even sent us a hand written sympathy card after the fact! The private cremation was easy, with the company calling us as soon as he was ready (sooner than originally estimated), and he was given back to us in a beautiful wooden urn. As far as pricing, they were comparable to everything I quoted on the island and queens for in home services/private cremation. If you want a trusted, empathetic company during this tough tough process, where everything will be as simple as possible, this is it! read more

Dr. Kristine Campanelli arrived at our home on time. She was patient and allowed us to take our time. This was a very sad and stressful passing, out kitten was only a few ear old and we were devastated by her illness and quick decline. Dr. Campanelli explained everything, she was compassionate and kind. She was gentle with our Brownie. When Brownie died she stayed a few minutes and asked us all of there were anything else she could do. One of the hardest things I ever had to do in my life was to say goodbye to my baby girl Lucy. She lived a wonderful long life ( not long enough for me) one day she was ok the next she literally couldn't walk or stand. I knew the time was coming along with my vet of over 20 years ( for more then one pet) When I called her office she wasn't able to 'fit' her in for a day and 1/2 with the receptionist telling me 'she's a squeeze in because the Dr. is booked so there's going to be a wait' I couldn't make my baby suffer a full day and 1/2 and then wait in the waiting room for another hour knowing it was going to be her last moments. A friend had told me of lap of love so I gave them a call. The initial call was very comforting as I was hysterical crying the entire conversation. I didn't commit to anything because I thought my vet would be more compassionate and call me back . When they didn't I called Lap of love a second time again crying. I once again hung up and called for a 3rd time at 10:30pm. The phone associate was so sweet and understanding and scheduled the appointment for the next morning. I know this review is long but it is important to know you are in good hands. Dr. Kristine Campanelli came to our home on time. Lucy was already laying in my arms as she walked in the room she was soft spoken kind and caring. She spoke to me for awhile softly petting Lucy. She ensured me that I was making the right decision and explained to me step by step what was going to happen. She made a paw print and even cut a few pieces of her fur for me. Even though it was the hardest thing I have ever done Lucy was completely comfortable in her own home in my arms. The thought of her dying on a cold exam table was one of the things that broke my heart the most. After she passed Dr. Campanella left the room and gave us some time alone and went to her car and came back with a big basket and cozy blanket. When I was ready she put her in the basket and covered her leaving her face out treating her with respect and dignity. She took her with her and the crematorium will pick her up at her office. I would highly recommend Lap of Love to anyone having to say goodbye to their special baby and would like to thank Dr. Campanella from the bottom of my heart. read more

While this option is emotional enough, people need to ask lots of questions. And ask in the beginning. Here are some I did, but of course it wasn't offered up on the initial intake information. If you have to put your pet down over the weekend, ask "where do they keep the animals after they die" because the creamatorium is not open over the weekend. I had this done on a Saturday, but I regret it. I did ask, and it seems the dead animals are kept in a car or at someones house until Monday. You are also told it's more relaxful than the vet, that the process is at your pace. The reality is.... it's the same process as the vet, just done slower. I found that worse for the pet because they go into almost the shakes slowly rather than quickly. They go to sleep and the final shot is not any better than the vet. It felt like a slow death, and felt like a slow torture . I won't use this service again. If you have a caring vet, use them. You don't want your pet to go through a slow death and sit at a random place. Also, they don't sprinkle the ashes at the pet cemetary, they are in a tub or wheelbarrow and tossed around the property. It's not as it sounds. read more

Absolutely one of the hardest decisions we had to make was to euthanize our beloved cat Smokey. Smokey was the best friend and companion that we ever could have asked for, for 20 wonderful years we had the pleasure to share her life and love. I always knew that I wanted her last moments to be at her home, comfortable and relaxed and not stressed by going to the vet. Lap of Love was able to provide us with this peaceful closure and Dr. Liz was the perfect person. I had my pet shihtzu euthanized today. He was a 12 year old Male around 20 lbs. I am extremely upset about the way he went. The vet was nice but she under dosed him where he needed 3 subcutaneous injections and then the final 4th injection into his vein. And after the 2nd injection, he started having a mini seizure and started gasping for air. So she gave him a muscle relaxant. In between injections, she kept doing toe pinches to check if he was asleep and he kept wincing and pulling his arms/ legs away so clearly he was feeling the pain inflicted on him during those final moments when he was supposed to be at peace. I'm so sad that he suffered so much today and I'm so disappointed that his last moments were so scary for him. Lap of love was supposed to make sure he didn't suffer. My heart is so broken as I keep replaying his final agonizing moments over and over again in my head. I wish more than anything that I could do it over again and make sure he went peacefully by going with someone else other than this company. So heartbroken right now. read more
