I brought my 2 puppies for their 3 month vaccines and my cat for his annual check-up. I was coming from NYC and was running late but Dr. Armfield's team was very accommodating. Dr. Armfield was very thorough with explaining the next steps for my furry family and I was able to have all my concerns addressed. Her staff were very gentle with my pups and cat, they were so at ease when being handled. I believe our furry family have great intuition for human kindness and they did not put up any resistance during the whole visit. Needless to say, the 1 hour plus drive was totally worth it! NEVER GO HERE MY DOG COULD HAVE DIED! I adopted a puppy from a rescue that did some of their vetting through Patchogue Animal Hospital. Because the puppy was still covered under the rescue's expense we were advised to bring him to Patchogue Animal Hospital to be neutered when the time came and it would be paid for by the rescue and our adoption fee. I have always adopted older dogs in the past and this was my first puppy and neutering experience. Once we brought the puppy home I called the vet an hour later asking a few questions since we werent allowed in the office because of covid. I mentioned the puppy was bleeding a little and they mentioned this was normal for the next few days. I called back 2 days later mentioning he was still spotting and brought him back to be checked out with fear something may be wrong. They took him back and had me wait in the parking lot and called me asking if I had been icing him. I said no I was never told to and everything I read never said to do that. They said I needed to ice him for the swelling to go down and he was bleeding because of the swelling and that they were able to get him to stop bleeding by doing this. I took the puppy home and tried to ice him and he wouldnt let me get anywhere near him (mind you this was never the case and hes a very affectionate and cuddly pup). I kept reaching out to the vet and they kept telling me to ice him. After 2 more days I brought him back again insisting something was wrong. They were very nasty with me over the phone and were blaming me for everything saying it was my fault this was happening because we couldnt ice the dog. I wasnt ok with this so I got a second and third opinion. With one look both of the alternative vets knew something was wrong and were both able to identify the issue right away. PATCHOGUE ANIMAL HOSPITAL LEFT A VEIN OPEN LEAVING MY PUP INTERNALLY BLEEDING FOR DAYS AND LOOKED AT HIM TELLING ME NOTHING WAS WRONG AND BLAMING ME FOR THE BLEEDING ISSUE. He needed emergency surgery (done by a different vet we trusted) and they mentioned before he went in that they didnt know if he was going to make it. I am disgusted with the way this animal hospital handled the situation not once, not twice but 3 TIMES. Not only did they put my dog in danger from preforming a minor and routine surgery, but they also blamed me for their wrong doing and their negligence of the issue when given the opportunity to fix the issue 2 times after bringing him back to be examined. I will never go back here again and I would advise everyone else to do the same if they love their pets. read more

Yesterday I had to put my beloved 20 year old cat down. Her regular vet wouldn't squeeze her in so I ended up here. She was suffering so it was better than nothing, but I want to warn pet owners about Dr. Armfield. She is like a robot, the coldest person I have ever met. She did not offer me or my cat a singe comforting word. Did not explain the euthanasia process without me pressing for every detail (it was my first time). Did not offer a paw print or any sort of keepsake like other vets. After my heart was clearly broken and I'm sobbing in front of my freshly dead cat, all I get is "would you like a box for her." That was the most she said the whole appointment. Not even a small smile. I'm not worried for my cat who is gone now and who I gave plenty of love to in her final minutes. I'm worried for pets with treatable conditions, accidents, etc. If you want someone to treat your pet with compassion and love, DON'T GO HERE! read more

To the Vet Teks that work in here. It's not ok to look the other way. You don't get a free pass. You're just as guilty. See something, say something. The same rules of responsibility apply to you as well. The job, no matter how scarce, isn't worth it. Improper care affects people's lives, and their pets lives become in jeopardy. Dr. Armfield clinic is hands down the best animal hospital I have ever experienced. She is always concerned about my pups. They have always been very affordable and keep your wallet and pets in mind. Always feel a warm welcoming with Dr. Armfield and her team. I was recommended by a friend and has been going since. I wish I could give a lower star rating than 1. All I can say is do not bring your pet here if you value their lives. I have a few dogs and have had alot of experience with veterinary offices. Ears nose throat and specialists. Thankfully I've never had to bring my own animals here but I know several people who have used Patchogue Animal hospital. Their staff is very untrained, they seem nice but do not know medicine doses or uses by any means. Half of the reviews here that I've read through before leaving a review state many pets have come in for routine ear exams or something to that effect, cases of healthy pets walking in and coming out comatosed on anti anxiety medications. Why? Never in my life have I seen a veterinary office use so many tranquilizers on healthy dogs. It leads me to believe the staff cannot properly preform the routine procedures and drug up every dog that yips yaps and puts up a fight. THANK GOD MY FRIEND HAD CALM DOGS. -5 STARS DO NOT EVER COME HERE. UNLICENSED PEOLPLE MAKE LIFE ALTERING DECISIONS. I know not every vet office can provide top flight medical care but this " Veterinary office " isn't that. It is an absolute scam. This place is hiding behind the license of one doctor who should be Very ashamed. i took my cat to them. He was supposed to get an ultra sound on 8/31 about 2 weeks after his initial exam. Don't go here -- they are so confused and got his ultra sound date mixed up. When I called to ask if they had a later appointment in the day for an ultra sound except for 8 a.m. in the morning initially they said "No." I would have had to bring the cat for an overnite if it was 8 AM in the morning. They adamantly said there was no other time available. Then I found out that they had an ultra sound opening on 9/5 at 10:30. I found another vet option. At first they could not find a record of my cat being examined by them or that he was scheduled for an ultra sound on 8/31. Anyhow, regardless they mentioned that there would be no specialist to assess the ultra sound this holiday weekend nor on 9/5 so does this make sense to you? Also the cat had been crying out at night because I had moved him from NYC to East Patchogue, LI, So the vet gave him loads of calming medication. This makes him really out of it, yet I have been told cats don't normally cry when in pain and probably he was crying from the move. To the people that have posted how great Dr. Armfield of the Patchogue Animal Hospital is, I say wow. Maybe you got her on a good day. Possibly she had just taken the business over from Dr. Atlas. My experience did not go close to yours. We pleaded for help and was told to go home. I believe her compassion, caring, and communication skills are horrid. I definitely would not recommend this veterinarian or this doctor at any time or place no matter where she has worked. read more

Dr Armfield has misdiagnosed my cat 2x. The first time she told me he had bone cancer. When asked if I wanted to do a biopsy, she told me he would likely be gone by the time we got results, so I didn't do the biopsy but opted to take him home as opposed to putting him to sleep. As soon as I stopped the pain killers he miraculously got better. Seriously?? I should have changed vets then but I didn't, Recently she diagnosed my cat with Hyper Thyroid and I was spending $70 a month on meds plus numerous blood tests. I opted for a 2nd opinion and guess what? He dis not hyper thyroid. She also made me medicate him for nail trimming (or any visit to her) starting the day before. Apparently she (and the staff) just dont know how to handle it because my new vet has no issues at all. They are experienced and professional. You should go the Village Vet instead.. read more

I would never recommend Patchogue Animal Hospital to anyone. Personally, I would warn anyone who loves their pet to stay away at all costs. If you're already using this vet and haven't had a problem yet, I would strongly suggest going somewhere else before you do encounter an irreversible issue. I wouldn't send a rat there. Botched up stitching on a operation on my animal. Had to be restitched. No sign in sheet so if you get their early that person that comes in late is ahead of you. I've noticed staff leaves after a few months of working. My pets deserve better. read more

We love Dr.Armfield! She is one of the best vets you could ever find for your little friend. My 8 year old dog has been seeing her for many years and they always make sure to do things to make him feel more comfortable . Dr.Armfield is very caring, meticulous and she always takes her time in explaining the procedures that needs to be done. Wonderful place. Staff is awesome. They treat my dog like he's one of their own. Recently on a Monday night, my dog got bit. It was around closing time and Dr. Armfield took him right in and stitched him up, making him good as new. Two days later, come Wednesday, they even called to see how he was feeling and doing. My family has been going to this office ever since the 1970s. Of course the veterinarian has changed but we continued to go because we liked the service. However I will no longer be using this vet. I went to the office today to pick up the second dose of medicine for my dog for which I had already paid in full. Unbeknownst to me I when I was given the first dose I was given both doses (3 pills) and told that the dog should take all three. I found out today that this was incorrect and that the dog still needed a second dose of 1 1/2 pills for which they expected payment despite the fact that I had already paid in full and administered the pills to my dog. The error was made by the office but they still expected me to pay. They've lost my business. read more

This post is important. I feel people should no what their dealing with. A simple visit turned into a tragedy. I brought my pet and family member into the Patchogue Animal Hospital to see if the ear infection we had been treating with drops had cleared up. Other then that I knew her to be a perfectly healthy pup. My pet Taro walked into the office on her own accord. After what seemed like an eternity, two vet tech's are carrying her out and place her on the back seat of our car incapable of any control of her body. Dr. Armfield freaks out after I asked her what she gave or shot into her. Hmmmm, Three calls were placed to Dr Armfield fearing for Taro's health before we even left her parking lot. I got laughed at and a take her home and let the meds wear off. She couldn't bother to walk 20 feet outside to look at Taro, a check of vitals, something. Trying to trust Dr. Armfield we took Taro home. Two more calls were placed to Dr. Armfield from our home and stated Taro is unresponsive and needs help. We got the same response. Let the meds wear off, she will be fine. Call me in the morning. In the morning Taro got up and collapsed. I rushed her to the hospital where she died minutes after arrival. It is in my strong opinion that if Dr. Armfield had bothered to come outside, anyone anywhere, and checked Taro's vitals, a problem could have been detected and possibly corrected. Doing nothing simply was not the answer for Taro. In my opinion, medicating Taro to the state she got her to completely caused this sweet pets death, and following up by refusing to re check her certainly finished her off. This pet, by all indications was fine and healthy prior to her visit to the Patchogue animal hospital. We are devastated. The loss is shocking. Taro walked in. ??? Dr. Armfield then refuses to take any of my calls and refused to provide me Taro's medical records. Eventually my calls weren't even picked up. Really?? My experience and expectations weren't met in the slightest. Dr. Armfield calls me one week later to complain about "The social media buzz" That call she can make. Dr. Armfield treated me terribly. My pets dead and zero responsibility is taken. Medications dispensed after questioning professionals went from surprised to well it is on the hi end not even counting a potential injection that hasn't been admitted to. Remember, Taro walked in to simply look in her ear, and wound up dead from it. Know your vet and trust your instincts. read more

I am so impressed with the Patchogue Animal Hospital (on Medford, dont confuse it with anyone else) I called them this morning, desperately needing my cats (ridiculously sharp) nails cut and I needed it done today. I did explain that Toby is a very difficult cat to work with, he can be quite nasty, but they had me come right in. From reception to doctor to exam to paying the bill, the staff was extraordinary! For the person who complained about the rabies tag....you have no idea how foolish you sound. I know this vet and I have worked in a vets office and in any medical office around animals and people not every moment is perfect. And, if you note the reviews, the care counts and if someone really understands that lives matter in medical offices and if anything takes second or third place its paper work, its basically called priorities. I do not work for Dr. Armfield, but our dogs are her patients and she's a world class vet, someone who deeply cares about people and animals. I met her a few years ago and it was very clear that this is a special woman with deep skills and a kind and loving heart. You need to grow up and realize that the world is not perfect, not every moment is going to be a 10, example paperwork, but if the care is, the hearts and minds are, minor inconveniences need to be overlooked in human dynamics in the bigger picture, its called being a grown up. From the perspective of knowledge, heart, soul, care, compassion, Dr. Eva, on a scale of 1-10 is a 25. She's a brilliant woman with heart and she loves animals, her people skills are an A+ and she is a great person...here's how great she is....I met her in Corona Queens and we went all the way to Patchogue to continue the care our pit bulls got so that she could care for them. I have had my share of vet hunting until now. Dr. Armfield is everything I was looking for in a vet. I have several rescue dogs who have had a pretty hard life. I am so happy I have a Dr. I can count on to give my dogs the best care. I feel so at ease knowing she is caring for my dogs. She saved one of my dogs who was severely sick, he was in grave danger of not making it. Dr Armfield provided the best possible care. He is here today because of Dr. Armfield. I am so grateful to her. Dr. Armfield also has a wonderfully calm friendly personality which is a pleasure to deal with, which my pets pick up on right away. She takes the time to make them less nervous, never rushing our visits. She offers such a wide range of treatment including acupuncture. She is very helpful and caring, making suggestions for the benefit of my pets, giving them a better quality of life. I take her advise as "gold", everything she has suggested has worked wonderfully for my dogs. No matter how many questions I have had she always personally calls me back herself which is awesome. I never had to worry about a call back for a test result as well. She takes the time to explain things. I never leave the office feeling unsure. She has a wonderful staff they are very professional and very loving to my dogs and other dogs in the waiting room. Appointments are not a problem and the staff does everything possible to accommodate your schedule. I am so happy I have finally found a Practice I can truly count on. I will never leave here. While for all intents and purposes effective and knowledgable, Dr. Armfield was not good with our 1-year old shepherd. Our shepherd is docile, friendly, and very well trained - she has even had her temperament tested so she can qualify for a therapy dog (which she does). We went to Dr. Armfield out of desperation because she was nearby and we had heard favorable reviews of her new practice. Our present vet was unavailable and we had a "poo" situation going on that evening that I felt should be addressed that evening. My husband states that the Dr didn't even talk to our dog, or pet her and gave her what he can only describe as a traumatizing rectal exam in which she screamed. They even decided to muzzle her (which I would NEVER have allowed had I been present with my husband). Long story short, thanks to Dr. Armfield we have to embark on some serious behavior retraining and go for "happy visits" to our current fabulous vet just to help destress and remove some of the traumatizing feelings she know feels and associates during rectal thermometers etc. The reason why I award ONE star (and not less) is because I feel that discretion should have prevailed and Dr. Armfield should have recognized that our dog was in great emotional distress and ceased her exam and not proceeded to the muzzle her and continue it. While I think Dr. Armfield likely has a wealth of doctoral knowledge and is likely a decent vet from a medical standpoint, she will never again see us or our animals because one must also have a certain bedside manner and kindness and connection when treating our fluffy family members. I'm disgusted that I allowed this to happen to my wonderful dog and will work diligently to correct this behavior and help to realign our dog's good nature with her favorite vet (the one we should have just waited for in the first place.) It all just seemed a little too "clinical" and very much aggressive manner of treatment. THUMBS DOWN :( read more
