Mr. Bell is THE BEST! We purchased a custom trumpet from him for my son and it was done to perfection. He was so easy to work with and communicated with us throughout the process. He made sure to get everything correct down to the very finest detail and my son LOVES his trumpet! He even surprised my son with a valve detail he handpicked. If I could give a 0 I would. My son joins the band 8th grade. When the school informed us Bells was the place to RENT from we signed up. I logged into an account and we were told that our payments would go towards a NEW instrument. I assumed by what I was told was I just rented this instrument through the entire time my son was in school. No biggie. Two months ago we took his instrument in to get worked on and was told this was the last free service because the instrument was now ours??? Umm what? So I logged into my bell's account to see everything and NOTHING was there. No payments made, no invoices, literally nothing but my name. We ask can we now use the payments made toward a new instrument. We were told nope that time has passed. Umm how were we to know any of this when nothing was told to us except $50 a month is being automatically taken out each month to RENT this instrument. No notice of hey your money can now go towards a new instrument. No one told us after so long it's yours? So roughly $1200 we paid to "rent" this instrument. Bells goes to my sons school not to long ago for a trade your instrument in towards a new one. Guess what the instrument I just paid $1200over the last 2 years is now worth only $500. After THEY have done all the service on it and did the last service like two months ago. read more

Bell's Music is THE place to rent. They have been incredible as a first time instrument owner. Their customer service is top notch. We had an issue arise with a rented piece and they truly went above and beyond to help. We are so grateful. read more

*UPDATE* We had to visit their shop again for a simple repair that was supposed to take one day. They had the instrument for almost a week and had never gotten Around to fixing it until I got upset and firm on the phone. They told me it could be picked up by the end of the day. It was clearly overlooked. Par for the course. We are at the mercy of dealing with them because there isn't another brass repair shop around. And when I say I LOATHE dealing with them that is an understatement. We dropped off a trombone Saturday. Told us it was an easy repair and would have it done at the beginning of the week. It's Friday and I just called on it. They never did anything to it. It's sat there in the shop unrepaired. I called and they tried to upsell me on a cleaning of a valve for $95!!!! My support experience was ok at best / I have a problem however with a phone that's never answered - a voice mail that is always full- and an email that used to be the only way to communicate which is now that's broke - drive by storefront and try your luck / son is done with instrument and I need to return it - I think I will just cancel all my bank auto pays and let them contact me with whatever protocol they are currently using - read more

I cannot believe that a business who sells merchandise to students does not allow returns (same day) on unused, unopened merchandise. That is ludicrous. We don't rent from them, Thank goodness, but will not be setting foot in that establishment again. read more

Unethical - poor customer service. Shady. This shop sold us a slightly used instrument for Keller Marching Band fully knowing that it was an instrument brand that is NOT used by the Keller Marching band. A particular brand of Mellophone that is ONLY used by several marching bands known to the owner and staff of this shop (as told to me by them personally when I tried to return it to them!) All they could offer was "You should try to re-sell it on Craigslist that would be your best bet, we don't buy back instruments if they are not in demand in this area." Really do not like doing business with this shop but they seem to have a monopoly in this area so much that customer service does not matter one bit to them. Very sad. read more

I am not surprised to see the other poor reviews of this family-owned business. I believe in supporting small businesses especially family businesses but I was extremely disappointed with the man who actually owns this business and his poor customer service, lack of the flexibility and no empathy at all for the customer. I am a Human Resources professional and can honestly say that I think very carefully about writing anything negative about a business because I know theses reviews can adversely impact a business so I do not take it lightly. I, too, have rushed to the store in rush hour to try and get there during their limited hours but I dealt with that. I tolerated the mountain of forms to sign and next of kin they need to know in case you stop paying or steal their instrument. I know they need to protect their assets but I got "burned" several times when I started or ended a contract only to be charged for the next months rent and the charges "couldn't be reversed". Each time it felt like a "gotcha" you should have come in yesterday. "Sorry the billing cycle started yesterday." Then the straw that broke my back was when I went to rent a trumpet (we are CISD) in August only to find out that I lost credit for all the months I had rented it the precious year for their "rent to own" program because I didn't know you needed to keep the instrument over the summer to have this continue. We were going on a month long trip so I returned it temporarily. The staff member (not the owner) didn't say a word about their "policy." When I expressed my dismay to the owner he couldn't care less. He took no responsibility for his staff members mistake other than saying "she should have told you." Instead of salvaging the customer relationship he truly didn't care that he was finally alienating me. Would it really have been such a huge deal to honor all of the months a paid on the trumpet towards the rent to own program? Apparently, it was. It was a really bad experience and I will never go their again. I went to Williamson First off of Davis Blvd in Southlake. Not only were they polite and helpful but they actually make it easy to rent from them. They are closer to where I live in Southlake and I will recommend that CISD switches to only recommending. Over the last 4-5 years I have used Bells & really respected and liked this business but the service & equipment I've received over this last year has not been acceptable. I'm not sure if they are understaffed, stressed or just unhappy, but their customer service is now suffering. The staff does not seem happy to be there. I understand that we all have bad days and I've tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but the last 4 times I've been in the cramped shop, the service has been consistently poor. Even the instrument we received recently was pretty beaten up and of poor quality compared to our past instruments. I've also witnessed the staff being extremely condescending and arrogant to customers, many of whom had already waited entirely too long in line. I don't quite understand what has happened ? After a recent visit, another customer walked out at the same time I had, and after we shared our "glances of disbelief" he said, " Looks like they've lost another long time customer". There are many other music shops in the area to choose from, & I don't write many negative reviews but maybe this will help them get back to their old way of doing business, which used to include treating all customers with courtesy and respect. read more

Do not do business with these people! I don't care how convenient it is! They are uncooperative, belligerent and argumentative with customers that pay regularly to rent instruments. My daughter was waiting for over three months for an exchange and still never got the right one. Go elsewhere for your music needs. read more

I will never set foo in this store again. I went there in August 2018 at the recommendation of the Band program at Keller High School. I purchased a Lyre my daughter needed for her trumpet. It turned out to be the wrong type, so I returned the next day to exchange. The younger man, the manager of the store, was so rude. Explaining store policy is one thing- being rude about it is another. Apparently, they don't accept returns. I can understand a small business limiting returns, for example "must return within two weeks" or not accepting returns for specific items. But no returns ever? Even when the item is in perfect re-sellable condition? It was even more off putting to me to see the younger store manager be unpleasant and dismissive towards the older silver haired gentleman who worked there while I was in line. Imagine that- alienating a customer (with multiple school age children) permanently over an $18 Lyre. Well, I now do all my business with Williamson Music 1st. read more

I wish that there was a negative reviews option! I took my school-owned yamaha Baritone Sax to the shop for a single dent removal and Mr.Bell continued to say that i had to get all dents removed and an entire service. I did not want that. The original price he said was $125, then he took it back and said it was $150 plus tax which made it a total of $162. He provided no explanation as to why the prices went up and spoke to me so rudely I was in shock. Mark my words I will never come back to this disrespectful store and appalling customer service. PLEASE GO SOMEWHERE ELSE AND DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! read more

Terrible customer service. Called them on Saturday and told them I was on my way to swap out a violin. They checked and had what we needed. I told them I was on my way. They closed early and left. I arrived and they were closed and all locked up. I called right then on Saturday and left a message of what had happened and for them to call me ASAP. They did not call me on Monday. But on Tuesday I got a phone call. So I went by there to get some answers about why they told me to come in and then closed early and left. No one wanted to discuss it with me. I did speak directly with the owner of the music shop. He did not care and just walked off. So I returned the violin that we had been renting and will go somewhere else to do business. Terrible, Terrible customer service. Never said I am sorry for your experience or anything close to that. I do not see how they are allowed to do business in our school district. I will be filing a complaint with the school district and pushing to get them removed so we can do business with a company and an owner that actually cares about customer service. read more

I have been using Mr. Bells for 4 years and have received great service every time. I took a flute in for an overhaul and they said it would be done within a week and it was done on time. Greatest people in the whole world! The night before my Concerto Contest the cork on my mouthpiece fell off. I called Bell's Music Shop and they kept the store open two hours later, because I live in Plano, just to fix my mouthpiece. They also took the time to check the rest of my horn and discovered a leak, and fixed it free of charge. Great family and service! Thanks Bell's! read more

I brought two different instruments in at two different times. Both diagnosed with the same major problem. They told me they had two remove the neck and do $200 worth of work. Went down the road a few miles to Young Musicians, 20 min and $35 later the bridge work I requested was done and I wasn't even talked down to for having a lower end instrument for a first and probably last year student. My kids have been involved with Band in KISD for the past 7 years. I have had several instances where I had emergencies with both of their instruments on the night of and day of Region Competition. Steve Bell has always come through for me and my kids with repairs, quality service and friendly staff. Bells music is a true family owned local Keller business that has grown over the years and provided excellent service to each of the bands Keller and the surrounding district. Staff is VERY knowledgeable and accommodating. Very disapointed with the customer service my husband and I received at this location. The owner is rude - rude - rude!! The price and information we received at the school was one and when we went to their location they charged a different price. The band drive discount of $15 was no longer available. Not that $15 will make me rich but to me its important to value the customer especially when you have back up paper to proove what was offer at the school. We were never told we needed to buy the instrument then in order to get the extra discount. Wrong information was given to us!! Very frustrating and rude customer service! My daughter is part of the KISD orchestra and they rent their instruments through Bell's Music Shop. One particular clerk that works there should really learn the meaning of the words "customer service." She is completely, unbelievably rude, can't imagine why they would let her work with people. Even her co-workers look embarrassed by her behavior. Unfortunately, one bad apple spoils the bunch. When it comes time to purchase an instrument we will not be doing so through Bell's, even if it is the most convenient, I'd rather drive a little further for some friendly service. read more

Been going to Bell's for a few years now. Very happy with the service I've received there. Whenever I take an instrument in, it's usually finished pretty quickly. A few times I took a clarinet in that only needed a minor repair or adjustment, and it was done within minutes while I waited for no cost at all. So far only good experiences there. read more
