They are taking precautions for COVID-19, so you cannot bring your own containers for U-pick. Instead, you pre-pay for a container they provide (I.e. quart, 1/2 flat), and then you fill it and leave (no weighing). 1/2 flat was $12.50 for raspberries, blueberries, and boysenberries. They ask everyone stay at least 6' apart. It has never been too crowded, so it is rather easy to maintain your distance and pick where you please. The fruit is delicious, and right now there are plenty of raspberries and blueberries!

I go to check in and the guy saw we have the same baskets (from Hoffman) and asked if we want more. We said sure and he threw a basket at us. We asked if there was anything we needed to know. Guy said "nope, you are all good" Go berry picking. See there are rows with orange fencing, which means do not pick here. Pretty obvious. There are blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, marion berries, tay berries, etc. Went to pick blueberries (please mind you, not fenced off) and after getting almost a whole bucket of beautiful blueberries, grandpa on the train honked and screamed at me "NO BLUEBERRIES. NOT OPEN" to which I asked how would I know? He threw his had at me and didn't answer. I didn't understand. Maybe he thought the check in told us not to pick blueberries? But the guy didn't. Thought they were fenced off? I don't know. Pretty odd to be screaming at a customer and not answer them back. We have been going to Hoffman for forever but will be going to another farm due to poor treatment to paying customers. (I have inserted a picture of a sign that says "u-pick fields are closed" at the beginning of the sign, which would mean u-pick is closed? No sign or rope on the other side of field. Sign is easy to miss and if you cannot read English, not obvious that those rows are closed) (Inserted checkin table that does not state anything about what berries are closed) Berries are good. You go to the farm to pick up your CSA goods in a small room. There is always good music playing and it's nice and cool inside. All the veggies (and fruit sometimes) is laid out on tables and there are clear signs as to how much of each item you can take. For instance, you can take two leeks, 3 lbs of carrot, a bag of lettuce, etc. I really like the way they set this up, because if you're not a fan of something, you can skip it and not let it go to waste in your fridge or pantry. They send out emails to go with the week and give you storage information and cooking recipes for the food you are getting that week. It's a lovely touch and I appreciate the information, especially when it's with something I don't normally get on my own. It's a wonderful thing to support local farms and farmers, so I'm thrilled we found Working Hands Farm. I also suggest you follow their Instagram! They have beautiful examples of their weekly hauls and show you what life is like on the farm.

When the whole SNAP benefits nightmare happened, many places were giving out to those of us who are on benefits. I was grateful and held onto my credit which worked out perfectly. I got a last minute invite for Thanksgiving with friends and I wanted to make a few dishes to bring. My $20 credit was good till 11/30 so I spent a little over $6 on my SNAP card. All their produce is from local farms and I was in shock as to how gorgeous it is. Certain root vegetables like rutabegga, turnips and pearl onions can be challenging to get but they had them and they were some of the best I've ever seen! I couldn't resist some lemons and blood oranges because they looked so amazing. I also had to get apples, kale, and green onions. I realized I was dancing around while bagging some produce to 'Can I Kick It?' by A Tribe Called Quest... they even play good music??? There is also a small hay maze and play structure. For us it is a less than 10 minute drive from Newberg and parking is easy. The pumpkin patch is close by (easy walking) and they offer tractor rides- the pumpkins are still growing on the vines. There is a wide selection of varieties. We picked up flowers, honey, corn, tomatoes, jalapeños and a pumpkin for under $15. Check the website for hours. Right now I think it's 9-6 closed Mondays.

Once you walk in to its exterior, seemed like a nursery, but there's a wide assortment of fresh veggies, fruits and even a refrigerated section with organic eggs. There is a store packed with novelties, from dishes to jams, candles, local handmade goods, jewelry. You can pick up just about anything here and there is even an ice cream area in the back. The most fun and exciting part was enjoying picking out your own berries and grapes. You are instructed to get your own bucket which is weighed when you are done. Depending on the season, there are apples and pears and Chiles, tomatoes, even flowers! This place is just incredible and encourage you all check it out
