We spend a few days at this property and had a wonderful time. Everyone speaks English which makes it easy. Also it has a great spa that is part of the room rate and it's within walking distance of the beach.

NICE HOTEL ACROSS FROM THE MARINA IN LAGOS, PORTUGAL…read more========================================== I found this hotel on my own after doing some research because my son and his wife wanted to go to the Algarve for a few days. My husband's cousin who lives in Cascais and speaks Portuguese booked it for us. The price was very good. I think we paid about 650 euros for two rooms for two nights for my son, daughter-in-law and then my husband and I. I liked everything about this hotel except our view in the rear of the property from Room #207. Our balcony basically faced the bus station, but we were also on the end of the building so we had a peekaboo side view of the marina. It was a comfortable and quiet room at night, so that was good. I would highly recommend booking a room on the side that faces the marina in one of the upper floors. They have a great balcony spanning half of the hotel on the fourth floor. It's a great place to relax at the end of the day. Bring your own beverages and snacks. They also have a small pool area up some stairs overlooking the bus station. They have a small bar by reception and the prices are good. You can get towels for the pool or beach, but you need to leave them a 10 euro deposit per towel. That makes sense or people will forget to bring them back. Easy access to activities at the marina. We booked a boat/kayak tour Ponta da Piedade Caves which was a lot of fun through Days of Adventure. It was a short trip on the water which is nice because I get seasick. I did take some Dramamine which helped too.

Spotlessly clean, updated, and quiet!…read more The room is a ten minute walk from the railroad station, which is how we arrived and departed. Each room has a balcony with two chairs and a table. We chose a room on the west side to avoid the sun while enjoying a morning cup of coffee. It was fun to watch the beehive activity of the live market on Saturday morning. Although the bus terminal is behind the hotel, we couldn't hear anything from there with the door closed. In the evenings, we enjoyed the shade on the roof top patio. They had multiple seating areas, loungers, and a pool. The views were remarkable. Staff members were all respectful, kind, and friendly. The breakfast was complete, including pastries, fresh fruit, eggs, bacon, beans, cheeses, cold cuts, juices, and coffee. We chose this hotel primarily because we took the train to Lagos, and didn't want to walk far. But it was also an easy walk to the old town and to the beach.

They have food combinations that are daring, out of the usual, but most importantly scrumptious. They serve fish caught fish, so the menu options change as to the fish; the night we were there they had fresh corvina, paired with lemon risotto, just lovely. We started with a carrot garnish/ purée, onto carrot bisque soup, mix green salad topped with sesame seeds and chickpeas, finishing with the corvina. Dessert was a muffin of sorts spilt in 2, the middle had strawberries & cream, while the top had been drizzled with brandy. Wine selection was good, local wines were well presented. If you're traveling thru Sagres it is a most stop. FYI - take cash, no credit cards accepted.

Ran by a long time Sommelier, definitely worth visiting when in the area. I ordered their deep fried octopus dish with a barley risotto, I was told the octopus was caught wild off the coast 10 minutes down the road. It melted in my mouth like butter, easily the best executed octopus I've ever enjoyed. Will definitely be going back as the rest of the menu grasped my attention they are always coming up with new ideas.

Pine Cliffs is one of the top resort destinations in the Algarve. Centrally located in Albufera,…read morePine Cliffs is a sprawling compound that feels like a self-contained island unto itself. You could spend a week here without leaving campus and be perfectly happy, though its central location to both Lagos and Faro allows for day trips to visit the towns and partake in their outdoor experiences (kayaking, hiking, etc.). Rooms are large and clean, and restaurant options are myriad. There are so many things on offer, from high-end seafood and sushi to Indian cuisine. All are good, though none are truly great. Sunsets should be experienced from the Champaign Bar, overlooking the cliffs and sea below. Those looking for exercise will be impressed with the well-apportioned gym. Note that it seemed crowded throughout our 5-day resort stay. The resort also boasts plenty of leisure and athletic facilities. The 9-hole golf course is sufficiently challenging and includes a hole with a cliff-to-cliff canyon carry. Clubs and golf shoes (required) and available for rent. The driving range was somehow closed before our tee time because of its proximity to the soccer (football) fields and upcoming soccer (football) practice. These professional fields are prominently featured on the resort's website, but were used by a professional club and off-limits to resorts guests during my stay. (Note to the resort: do not trumpet facilities that are off-limits). The resort also includes tennis courts (two clay) and a basketball court. The only real drawback to the resort is that it is rotten with kids, from which adults simply cannot escape. My advice to the resort would be to designate at least one of the pools or restaurants as "adults only." As things currently stand, there is no place to escape the crying and enjoy a mid-day catnap.

It was this or 7:30 but we opted for the later one as we had been out all day and wanted to give the kids some time in the pool. We thought it would be a late night and hoped to have the kids in bed ~11pm. Oh boy were we wrong. We arrived about 10 mins early and were asked to take a seat downstairs and were told they were running about 15 minutes late. An hour later we were seated upstairs only after we chased down the hostess. So it's 10:30 and we go to place our orders straight away (we had plenty of time to study the menu). Unfortunately a lot of the dishes are not available including the shrimp cocktail. At 11:30 the starter comes out. And it's after midnight by the time our mains arrive. My wife and kids left the restaurant at ~12:45 and I joined the line to pay the bill. I was out there shortly after 1am. This was the worst service we have ever experienced. I gave them 2 stars because the restaurant itself is magnificent. It's built into the cliff face and overlooks the ocean. That said the lift you take to restaurant stinks and the bathroom did not have a lock. I checked the receipt today and realized they charged us for the shrimp cocktail they didn't have. If you must go to this place I recommend you book as early as possible before they get busy and everything goes sideways. Everyone in the restaurant was upset.
