Mum's the word . . . Not a vegetarian. Or alternative hippy lover. Or keen on interior design props. I am a minimalist and a carnivor. But we had to try it, after more than a week of surfer shacks and plastic chairs under tl-light at so called traditional portugese restaurants. So we went there, at the end of the world; a vegetarian restaurant where you can order gluten-free. (Shoot me now . . . !) It was absolutely perfect . . . We (my wife and I) shared a precourse (couvert) which was great. My wife then had the tagliatele while I reluctantly ordered the vegetable strudel; both, again, perfect. Then I lost it. Boldly going where no carnivor ever went before, I ordered the tofu cheese cake (my the chocolate brownie. Wuss . . .). Absolutely delicious. With the right port wine to go with it, sugested by the nice but hardly underdstandable sommalier, it was a feast. When the check came it turned out we couldn't use plastic (damn hippies), so I had to go out to get cash. The owner told us 'no'. Bring it tomorrow. No questions asked. Excuse me?! (Hippies . . .) If you ever find yourself at the end of the world, go and have dinner here. It serves without a doubt the best food (and wine . . .) in the region. Don't tell anyone though. They might loose it if they get too busy. Mum's the word . . .

Lovely bar

It was best meal for our family in whole Sagres! Amazing and interesting food and drinks. Staff is super friendly! If you are vegetarian or vegan it is must restaurant for you.

**excellent** The food, the service, the atmosphere, the design, the music, the wine - everything absolutely excellent - I highly recommend this place to vegetarians and everybody else who likes really good (& healthy) food. Not cheap, but worth every penny... :) (be aware: no credit cards welcome)

Excellent service and delicious food. We arrived at midnight and they happily accommodated us. We are not vegan or vegetarian, but he had the tuna and I had a vegetable strudel and everything was amazing. We overheard some other travelers telling the waiter they come every night because it's the best food in Sagres. I agree and would go further to say it also has the best ambiance (cozy, mod-chic, with literature and jazz influence). I wish I'd brought my camera or phone to take pictures of the presentation and post to here. Loved it! We may never come back to this sleepy surfer town, but if we do, we know where we'll have dinner

Let me preface this review by saying that I am not a vegan or vegetarian and that if you are this place is probably right up you're alley. The place is unusual in every sense of the word, which isn't a bad thing. It just seems that the place lacks identity. There are Jane Fonda books on the walls, old 70's televisions, and other oddities that really don't add much to the charm of the place. The wait staff was friendly but super sluggish and inattentive. We had three different people waiting on us throughout the night and ended up getting asked three different times if we were interested in desert before getting the check. It took two 1/2 hours to get through a basic meal for two. I had the lemon poppyseed pasta which was ok, but lacking substance and originality. It was really like an Alfredo with some lemon and poppyseed thrown in. My wife had the fettuccine do Mar which was decent but not memorable. The food was okay, I don't mean to harp on it, but it didn't wow us by any means. 90% of the menu items are vegan/vegetarian and they have no chicken, beef, pork etc. they did have two seafood options. The cocktails were awesome! Mohitos were out of this word good. I would go back just for that and a light appetizer for sure. It's another option in the area, but plan ahead to spend some time there. Also it was booked solid, so it would be prudent to call for a reservation before you just pop in and get turned away.

Very welcoming staff, and a great vibe from the interior as well a the outside seating. We initially sat outside, but the breeze kicked up so the lovely K asked to move inside. Of course, just grab a seat anywhere. We haven't had burgers since being in Europe, and two full weeks without a burger is just wrong. I ordered the Bird burger and K had the Retro burger as well as a side of fries which we shared. We were asked if medium on the meat was ok, and answered affirmatively. The fries were plentiful and the burgers pretty tall. My burger was very good although the patty was definitely a little under especially in the middle. K was not in top form, feeling not great all morning and hoped that food would help, it did not, so we'll reserve judgement on her burger. Patty done a bit more this is a 5 star review but medium is not medium rare, maybe even a little less than that. Servers are great, the restaurant is great the vibe is great. We wish we could try again, but time dictates that we cannot.

The host's recommendations were very solid. A good menu of "burgers," in quotes because mine was made of bacalhau--why don't places do this in the States?! Varied meats. Deep drinks list. Our consensus was that a place like this where we live would make money hand over fist and for good reason.

It was, in a word, fantastic. First off-the service. The gentleman who attended our table was delightful. Patient in explaining the dishes, his favorites (which we ordered), and just a great sense of humor and kindness about him. Next, and importantly, the food was amazing. We had the Stonbass and the Turbot with potatoes and a mixed salad. Grilled to perfection, fresh as could be. The meal was so good. My partner had the lemon meringue (after the pastry chef suggested it). Light and lovely. It was a great meal. A great spot. A great staff. We could not have asked for more. Neither could you. Do it!

And veggie soup along with algarvian salad for me. Prices were very reasonable. And quality of food was fantastic. Service was impressive. The best part of our entire dining experience was the kind beautiful smile and expert service by the young woman with beautiful black braids. Her name may have been Erika (she's expecting also). What a gem of an employee and definitely an asset to this restaurant. All in all a great lunch at a traditional Sagres family restaurant!!

Casa Padaria is owned by a couple, Juliette and Ben, Juliette is front of house and Ben runs the kitchen. Pizza's have lovely thin bases with tasty toppings, a good selection of 'set' pizzas on the menu to cater for most tastes and the option to create your own. There is also a 'special' pizza featured each week with a more unusual slant. If pizza is not your thing then you can choose from a selection of pastas and salads with vegetarian options too. Starters are also available but I find the pizza is enough, especially to make sure I can fit in one of the delicious homemade desserts. Special mention has to be made of the coleslaw - it is the best ever! You are always guaranteed a warm friendly welcome from Juliette who will make you feel at home and relaxed while waiting for the fabulous food prepared by Ben. If you are around Burgau then a visit here is a must.
