Almost every place I have dealt with had patients lined up in the hallways, totally unattended - I guess as long as they're out of their rooms, It could be marked up as some level of care. It's hard to fault the caregivers because their hours are horrible and the working conditions are truly awful - but there are never administrators around to take your anger out on. I am happy to say that none of these conditions appear to exist at Astoria - quite the opposite in fact. This is the only place I have ever been to where the administrators are always around, they treat their residents and families like their own. I have never encountered so many wonderful, caring, genuinely kind people as those who work at Astoria. My mother-in-law has been a resident at the Oakdale facility since April 2024. She doesn't want to be there, she wants to be in her own home but unfortunately her condition does not allow her that luxury anymore. Every time I visit her, the staff greet us cheerfully, they respond to her needs within a few minutes, and they go out of their way to treat her with respect.

It was clear they were committed to making sure residents felt safe, comfortable, and supported. The environment at Dale is warm and inviting. I often saw residents enjoying activities and spending time together. It feels like a place where people are not just looked after, but genuinely cared for. From a professional standpoint, I've been impressed and feel confident recommending this community to anyone looking for a quality assisted living.

Unfortunately, I have never encountered someone who has demonstrated the level of disrespect and lack of professionalism that I have experienced with Patricia Hogan. In my experience, Patricia has been consistently rude and dismissive toward family members, disrespectful in the way she communicates with employees, and seemingly unconcerned with how her behavior affects the residents themselves. These are individuals and families who deserve to be treated with compassion, patience, dignity, and respect--not made to feel as though they are an inconvenience. After more than nine years of having my mother in this community, I know the level of care and professionalism this community is capable of providing. Patricia's behavior does not reflect those standards. In my opinion, she is simply not the right fit for a community that is responsible for the care, comfort, and well-being of seniors. Leadership in senior living requires compassion, professionalism, respect, and the ability to communicate appropriately with residents, families, and employees. Based on what I have personally witnessed and experienced, I have serious concerns about Patricia's ability to demonstrate those qualities. I sincerely hope these concerns are taken seriously because the residents, their families, and the hardworking employees deserve leadership that treats them with the respect they deserve.

These people charged so much money and did not take care of my parents in the Memory care unit! Before my parents were in this place, they were at home I was watching my parents. I had my mom getting her up to walk, bathing her eating good food the moment she got into this place they never got her up to walk. They blended her food, and every time I would visit her I noticed something was wrong with her! She had dementia and didn't talk, but I knew in my heart and I can feel her. Something was wrong pictures don't lie.! At the end of her two months, she end up catching Covid. It was her first time having it.!! They kept her isolated for 10 days in a bed, not getting up nothing! They told me I was not allowed to see her. This was during Mother's Day for two weeks.! Finally, she became negative and I was able to see her on May 17, 2023, when I walked in my parents room, I immediately started crying, my stepdad was in a diaper with no pants. Halfway off the bed, my mom was laying there so skinny she wasn't barely moving.!! They both had poop! I put my head on my mom's chest. She was breathing so shallow.! I went out and told the nurse they didn't even know they were like this, my parents, how these people work there, and don't know!????? My mom passed away there May 18, 2023. My stepdad followed her May 31, 2023. They were both again and they're less than two months.!! This place is unacceptable and not worth your money or your families love one life !! If it was my choice, they would've never been in this place EVER! Rest in heaven parents you are loved and always will be in my heart!!

Food service aims to please the most finicky resident(s). The Victory Bistro staff and operation is outstanding (the chocolate cookies are to die for). The monthly brunches, monthly birthday celebrations, weekly Happy Hours are always well planned and outstanding. Not only in food and service excellent but decorations by the Activities Group are over the top in creativity. We have free transportation to appointments, shopping and even to visit nearby relatives. The Housekeeping and Facilities staff do their upmost to insure our comfort at all times. Our 24/7 receptionists are extremely pleasant and always helpful. We are blessed to live in such a place. I wish I had moved here sooner.

What helped me make my decision was when I talked to actual residents. They love living at Bethel - and several mentioned how everyone feels like family - from the staff to the other residents. One particular resident shared with me that she actually had no living family left, and that Bethel was her family. That was very comforting to know that Bethel gives its residents more than just a place to live, but a loving home.
