The team didn't speak English, so we basically got whatever they decided to make for us. I was hoping for chicken anyway, so it worked out, but my friend and I originally planned to share and try two different proteins. I DEVOURED the chicken torta chilaquiles sandwich. It did start to get a little tough towards finish towards the end, but I powered through because it was such a flavor bomb. No way I was leaving that behind. I was expecting the chilaquiles to be crunchy, and they weren't- but they also weren't soggy in a gross way. The texture actually worked in the sandwich, and the flavor was so good. And THE CREMA. So rich. So yum. Big fan. It filled me up for the entire day. Zero regrets.

The only thing that I would have preferred is for the chips to be less soggy and more crunchy to get more contrast in texture (but that's just me, not trying to change their method and system, just a heads up to the user). If you need to fill up for a long day of walking around town, this carb bomb will keep you satisfied. Don't be deterred by the long lines, the employees work super fast to get you on your way. They were making fun of me at first for carrying a large baguette through the city, but this bread came in clutch with my group of weary travelers even a few days later after a flight to Merida! The first is that spellcheck changed the name of this pan de muerto to "himalaya ". The next is that the bakery borders Calle Tamaulipas which sounds a lot like Tamale Pass. Restaurant name idea? Maybe. Did I like it? It was fun. It was enjoyable. With so many choices in the city though, it may be a while before I return. Just too many places to try here.

We tried the croissant sandwich, salmon deli nut sandwich, chutney mango deli sandwich, santos ahogados, fig chipotle deli sandwich, pear honey deli sandwich, and the spicy tuna deli sandwich. The sandwiches came with a standard simple salad. Every single item was delicious, well-balanced, and satisfying in that "clean but filling" way. The tables had two delicious spicy chili oil like condiments which elevated each of these dishes. And the juices--WOW. So refreshing, vibrant, and clearly made with high-quality ingredients. The perfect complement to the food and ideal for starting (or resetting) your day. If you're visiting Mexico City, Ojo de Agua is an absolute must.
