Our mission was to find machaca in Mexico City and this place came up. Compared to the one you get in CA it was different because they bring out the red sauce and pour it on top for you. It was definitely a different experience but glad we tried it. It was good. We also ordered their coffee while we were there and two guys with guitar was outside the restaurant playing live music. Traditional and fusion specialties from various regions. The food is toned down and not spicy. It was a little difficult to get the server's attention for salsa and she did not explain that the green sauce was guacamole and not spicy. I should have chosen the one with chile habañero, but that is sometimes too spicy. The enchiladas in green sauce were simple and good, if a little bland. The Sopa Aguascalientes was served with the ingredients in a cylinder, to which the server poured the hot broth. Again, it was okay, but rather bland and the bits of chile poblano and corn were tiny and few. I prefer soups without cream, but at least the broth, as described, had only a little cream. The meals come as is, no bread, tortillas or salsas unless requested. Service is polite. The ambiance is the best part. The patio dining offers great views of the park and stunning architecture. An added plus is the absence of beggars and unwanted musicians. The vibe is casual, but this being Santa Fe, the crowd is upscale. Given that, the prices are quite reasonable. read more

I'm glad we found this spot while we were looking for brunch because it ended up being great. The portions were generous, the food was clearly fresh, and delicious. I ordered chilaquiles divorciados with chicken, and the red and green sauces were excellent. The vegetarian sandwich was one of the best ever, according to my boyfriend who is vegetarian. The matcha and chocolate conchas were delicious and not dry at all compared to the ones we get in California. I also love that they offer a double cortado. It's my favorite coffee drink, but never enough for me. My daughter loved her hot chai. Stopped here for our first breakfast in CDMX after flying in from the US. Modern breakfast/brunch restaurant. Like other reviewers, the 'desayuno de campeones' was very delicious. It comes with chilaquiles, bacon, sausage, and pancakes. My partner had the 'torta de campeones' which came with eveeeerything! It had black beans, ham, bacon, chicken, yellow cheese, avocado, and tomato. Also the arroz con leche latte was delicious! Terrible service, I asked for no sour cream in my chilaquiles.. waitress repeated my order. When my meal arrived it was drenched in sour cream and of course I was not able to eat them. The concha was dry. My plate also came with a bolillo and that was never brought either . read more

I had the Enchiladas Verde here and it tasted great! This was chicken, cream, and cheese as translated from their menu. As a non-Spanish speaker, the staff members were really helpful in getting us what I wanted, including the WiFi password. Definitely would recommend this spot when in Mexico City. read more

Beautiful place for brunch. The space has a great low key vibe in the Roma neighborhood. Mid-century modern furniture that gives the restaurant an inviting look. Get the Chilaquiles verde with a friend egg because this dish arrived as a mountain of chips, cheese, and a fried egg as the cherry on top. I also got the macha concha and a cup of coffee. Best move- dunking parts of the concha into your coffee. It's a great flavor combo. Free Wifi- you just have to ask for the password. This was my fav meal while in Mexico City. read more

let's start with the cashier. at peltre you are to go to the cashier to order. this is the first interaction you have with any of the staff. i had the most underwhelming welcome of my life due to the rudeness of the cashier. when i asked her what she recommended, she literally just read off the menu- item by item. then when i took a while to make up my mind, she rudely told me to move aside. It's funny, when a new restaurant opens in your neighborhood, an awakening of sorts occurs. For the whole time I have been at my current apartment in Roma Norte (four years) - this particular corner on esquina Cordoba and Alvaro Obregon, it has always seemed blocked, closed, and under construction. The last few weeks, actual progressing activity of what seemed to be a restaurant was in place and I think many were in shock to see something happening. Today, the loncheria, open, begged me to try it on the first day of opening. Clear windows, open spaces welcoming staff, and a fresh and positive vibe, with the jazz playing overhead, welcomed me, four buildings from my own apartment. A mixture of sandwiches and soups, a variety of teas and coffees, I almost dived into a salad but the only salad I had a taste for at the moment was one with lots of fruit, but I did not see a salad of that sort on the menu. I chose the taco soup, with a large orange juice (fruit in there somewhere!) I did like the decor, as the open windows looking out of what used to be a permanently closed corner from the outside in now peered onto the busy happenings on this corner, with a fascade of looking out, the jazz eased me into relaxation mode. I took the bright decor in, and found a liking to the blue-speckled steel design I often saw on old-style kettles, and plates, and liked the feel of being able to ease into a booth with a clear view onto the corner of my neighborhood. Having the staff deliver the bowl of content then pouring soup over the contents was appetizing to the sight and the taste - the soup lasted maybe 5 minutes. The juice extremely fresh tasting, I took in the shelves of novelty items such as procelain figures and items you'd spot in a novelty store. While certainly not a top notch, state of the art fancy restaurant, this location set you as ease and provided shelter from the noisy traffic in the middle of the day, while the food hit the spot amid the period you eased into a relaxed state. Such a business on a street corner that was just a corner for all these years? A great addtion to my block and to Alvaro Obregon as we begin to see at least 4- 6 new food establishments in the last few weeks. read more

Really nice breakfast and lunch place (also open into dinner hours) that does all the Mexican classics very well with good ingredients. You pay at the counter and then get a number for your table where your food is delivered. Servers are very helpful and attentive. Salmon and egg sandwich, chilaquiles, huevos divorciados, enchiladas verdes, their coffee -- everything is delicious. Menus on clipboards makes it really easy to order, even if you don't speak Spanish very well. read more
