This is a great little book store in the heart of Belmont Center. No parking on the street? Don't worry, there is a huge parking lot around back! Sick of giving Jeff Bezos your hard-earned money? I really like the vibe. And the decor. The place is clean, new and well laid out. An enthusiastic staff provides good service. The lighting is great and being surrounded by books makes me feel smart! The warm colors help too. I ordered a hot cocoa with soy milk. It was fine. Not Burdicks but not bad and equivalent of Starbucks hot cocoa imo. When I visited, students were studying, moms were browsing, friends were chatting. It felt much warmer and friendlier than the Starbucks down the block. Though in fairness to SB their space is small. I had to confirm that a local competitor could be at least as good as Starbucks and his hot cocoa is just fine. I plan to patronize belmont books from now on. Upstairs is a children's section which is a great addition. (Corrected section yes they have an elevator!). The children's section is very nice stocked with a decent number of books and helpful staff. I got some help from Karen and she was able to direct me to a couple of books my son would like it was a very nice experience. I'm happy to have a new hang out in Belmont center and they might get me to purchase too many books because I enjoy walking around bookstores! read more

THIS PLACE MAKES ME HAPPY. THIS PLACE IS AMAZING. Black Bear Cafe is possibly my favorite place on earth. All the baristas are literally magical unicorns and their coffee is so good. The bookstore is adorable and has a huge selection and anything you could want. The kids section is also adorable. Also, they always let me use their bathroom even if I don't buy anything!! read more

This is what Belmont really needed! Not only is this a well curated little bookstore but it has already become something of a community meeting place since it opened. Upstairs is a beautiful children's section with regular story times and they host lectures and book signings several times a week and the staff always remembers your name :) The Black Bear Cafe has the best coffee in Belmont Center, with some of the best prices too. Ample seating means there is always a spot to work or snack on their pastries. Just not the Banana Muffins, those are mine. read more

Great place! Went there today, a raining day, with the kids... Had a delicious cup of coffee and watch the kids browse. The staff was supper nice to my little ones with their questions and everything, when you feel comfortable at a place & your kids tell you they want to go back... That's it! Love love love Belmont Books!! It has been the most welcome addition to Belmont Town Center ever since it arrived, and we are sooooo happy to have a local independent bookstore to support, instead of lining corporate Amazon's pockets more! Everyone who works here is so friendly and helpful, and they have a fabulous children's section on the second floor. My kids would happily spend hours here (pre-COVID), browsing through books. There are always fun gift ideas too -- humorous pins, socks, puzzles, games, etc. We've appreciated being able to order things for curbside pickup during the pandemic, and are thrilled to see the doors opening again! read more

If I plan on doing work in the center, I usually end up at Belmont Books. They have a full cafe with delicious drinks and pastries (I'm predictable and always go for the chai tea latte). The place is very clean, including the bathroom, and there's a convenient seating area with plenty of room. They also have two cushioned seats hidden in the corner for more privacy. I like going here to do work because if I ever need a break, I can just look around and browse some of their books (and they have a lot). They have more than books, though. They have notepads and notebooks, children's games and stuffed animals, greeting cards, maps, etc. The prices are the only reason I'm keeping one of the stars for myself. Some of the items they sell are surprisingly expensive, like their notebooks. Besides that, I love this place and find myself there with a chai tea latte quite often. read more

They host a bunch of different events for both kids and adults. Our family loves this store, and it's one of our favorite spots to go to on a rainy day. Wow! The new Belmont Books is one of those bookstores where you find tons and tons you want to read. I've been here numerous times and each time walked out with a handful. The space is open and inviting. (Clean restrooms!) The upstairs children/YA section is spectacular. The card section (as well as the curated gift items) is terrific. The staff is perfect: helpful when you need them, respectful when you don't. And don't forget to have soup, coffee, and a sweet or savory pastry. Today was the first time I stepped foot into Belmont Books. I was with my daughter who is medically complex and had many challenges, her helper, my son and his friend. It was such a Great place! Down stairs was warm and welcoming, the coffee shop is great and there is so much selection, including fun gift items. I took the children upstairs to the kids section. It was also very warm and welcoming. They had a multitude of books and items based around reading. The staff was helpful and kind. My daughter got so excited she forgot her favorite lovey at the store. We did not realize this u til bed time. I called and they were already closed. I sent an email hoping they would check in the morning for her doll. I want you to know the owners contacted me right away and went to the store to find the doll for my daughter! They even offer to bring it to us! I am so beyond grateful! Thank you for your generosity and for your beautiful store. We will be back! You can not beat the personal touch of a neighborhood store!
