I say, I'd not shot an automatic since my time in the service and Belmont Firearms & Range were more than happy to oblige. They have a vast array of historic and modern firearms; ranging from machine guns to pistols and rifles. For the two historic rentals and 100rds for each, I would say the pricing was more than fair as well! Only reason for not rating 5/5 is my initial interaction with the young gentleman behind the counter. He vehemently insisted I was wrong when asking for "select fire" when he was, in fact, the misinformed party. He droned on for about ten minutes treating me as a moron and it left a bad taste in my mouth. Luckily, I didn't leave as I had a wonderful time besides this. I look forward to returning upon my next visit to the area BE WARNED: Shoot low and centered on the target as they can and will charge you for every shot above the target or into the ceiling. I've really come to like these guys. They seem to have a great selection of firearms (even during the 2020/21 shortages), reasonable prices even (even with the changing market), and a good amount of accessories and builder parts. Even the ammo throughout the 2020 dry spell seems to have been reasonably priced (considering wholesale costs) and readily available whenever I've stopped in The staff has been very friendly, and they seem knowledgeable. Seems like they're always moving on ordering product, communicating with customers, or keeping the place clean and organized. Not a lot of leaning on counters and watching the spiderwebs accumulate, like other shops sometimes do... I've been pleased with their eagerness to get you something they don't have available, as well. Some shops just say "we don't have that" where these guys say "Lemme check distributors, and get your contact info" - a little gumption goes a long way in my book. My only complaints are small, and those would be the temptation of the wall full of rentals, and the hours... Rentals make up at least 3/4 of the guns in the store, and they're not for sale! But at least you can try them- definitely an opportunity to test drive something you've always wanted, to but wouldn't be able to touch otherwise. As for the hours... well... I'd try to keep the place open past 6pm on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or some combination thereof. A lot of people work a 9-5, and most of us get paid at the end of the week. read more

Never again will I go here I had my fiancé bring me in the guy showed me a few of his wares not the owner. I told him I had 600 and I had a trade in the wares I was looking at were close to 650 700. He didn't say anything else and just walked away after we watched me count my money. I went here once before because my audial ffl didn't have much and these guys supposedly were Great yeah nope. Terrible customer service; I went 3 separate times with cash in hand to buy a gun that was in stock, which wasn't available at The Barn Store (a place I cannot recommend enough) only to have people who had arrived after me be helped first. To be clear - I had been in the store a significant amount of time waiting and twice the people who arrived after me were also skipped over for someone the employees knew. The 4th time I went the gun had been sold and I mentioned my pasted experience to an employee...to which I was met with a blank stare. Fine to use for a range and one of the guys is absolutely fantastic to educate you on a weapon or run you through the training classes they offer, but in terms of basic custome rare ice it's a no go. read more

My son and I were in New Hampshire for a tournament and had some time to kill so we decided to go shoot some guns. These guys could not have been more accommodating it was such an awesome experience Dave gave us a safety briefing and proper use of the weapon. Bob (the owner) is an absolute prick. Went in to possibly buy a Glock that Riley's sells for $450, but he sells for $515. I had no idea what his prices were when I went in there. I ended up telling him that if he would match the $450 price tag I'd gladly give him the sale instead, being that Riley's is so big, they're not going to miss my business. He was extremely short with me, and to whoever called him while I was there. He hastily put the gun back in the case and was like, "Nope, nope." If the guy has a problem with customer service, he should probably hire people to handle that part for him before he has to close his doors and stuff all his guns up his ass. I am far right, generally go out of my way to support other right wingers, but this guy deserves bankruptcy. While Average Joe's doesn't have shit for selection, and smells like cigarettes, at least the owner isn't a prick. read more

I've transferred in weapons, used the range bought ammo and talked to Bob and the guys he employes and have never seen a racist comment, action or even a raised eyebrow. Bob is so well traveled and I mean around the world I doubt he notices or cares. What Bob is good at is smelling BS and calling it out, interesting that the ones with the most bad posts are from MA, yet there are those from MA and NY that have had great experiences. I'll call BS on the bad posts from MA as I know most dealers will not do pistol transfers at all for MA residents we are after all in NH!!! read more

First off- the owner Bob is a real prick. I called the guy that works at the store to see if they had a particular pistol in stock. I was told that they didn't have it, but they have an online portal that I could order from, and it would also same time. I took the time to check their portal, and the pistol wasn't available there either. So, figuring I did my due diligence, I ordered the firearm online from another dealer. Told Bob I would at least give me the transfer business. He said "Nope", "Don't transfer it here". So instead of making a new customer, he made another customer avoid his shop like the plague. read more

They time and time again scam people out of their firearms or use threats of calling the cops on people who are selling firearms they've come into because of deaths in the family. They're scam artists. Dont trust them, or go to their range, they called the cops on a guy for putting an arm brace to his shoulder instead of just telling him he cant do that. I reserved 4 lanes for a group of 10 guys celebrating a bachelor party & the experience was phenomenal. Most of the guys have never shot a gun before, but the staff went over everything we needed, including firearm operation, & safety. We rented several rifles, a hand gun, and machine gun. The whole group had a great time. I was especially thankful for all the assistance the staff gave us including the complimentary turn with the 500 handgun for the groom. Just a heads up, the hours on yelp are wrong, check their website or Google for the correct hours. Great experience coming here. The staff was welcoming and gave us their attention. Ended up renting an MP5 submachine gun and buying 300 rounds of 9mm. Range time, targets, firearm rental, and ammo came to a hair over $200 which was definitely worth it for the experience. Payment was also not due until you were ready to leave (you shoot all ammo and use their gun+range before paying). Most importantly, it's a very relaxed environment meaning we never felt rushed through the process or like we were just another customer that they wanted to pass through. The reviews that say the owner, Bob, is arrogant, rude and condescending are 100% accurate! We bought a membership for our underage son for his birthday. They require an adult to go into the range with him which is understandable. However, then they charge the adult for going into the range. WHAT . . . The pricing on the website is per hour, but then they charge you per person. I emailed Bob about this and he said to stop by in person. When I did, he barely looked up from his paperwork and was dismissive. It was very clear I was bothering him. Worst interaction I have ever had with a business owner. read more

I took my son for an end of school year celebration after a tough year that he fought through. The website says they rent belt-fed machine guns but you need to make an appointment. My son and I called and the employee said that the advertised new SAW was not available but they had an M-60 that cost $260 and included 200 rounds. Never having rented a belt-fed machine gun I thought that was a lot but worth it because of how excited my son was about it (I told him I would pay for the machine gun and he could pay for any other guns he wanted to rent). When we got there the employee remembered us and got the massive gun down from its display location, got us all signed in and couldn't have been nicer. The displays were amazing and the variety of firearms to rent was excellent. The M-60 was awesome in every sense of the word and the employee went out and got us our second 100 round belt and we finished up. He took the M-60 back and we went to check out but my son was so excited by the whole thing that we decided to rent three other guns, which were all fantastic. When we finally went to check out, the price was much higher than my mental total said it should be so I asked why and the owner (the younger employee was not around when we checked out) said that the younger employee made a mistake and the price of the M-60 was $375 and each belt of 100 rounds cost $100. I told him that the other guy had quoted us a price of $260 and the owner said that he had just talked to the employee and that it was a mis-quote. The owner pulled a yellow post-it note off of the back side of the counter showing the price for the M-60 as $375 and the SCAR as $260 including 200 rounds. While it is possible that he just red me as a sucker and jotted this down on a post-it note and hoped I wouldn't notice the huge bill- I believe his story. The problem is that he acknowledged that it was his mistake (or his employee's mistake) but he was insisting I pay for it. While the guns and range were good, there are plenty of places to shoot in NH where the owner's pay for their mistakes and don't force their customers to pay for them. read more

Called about a firearm transfer - said they did transfers for $35. Cool. Order the firearm. Get a call the next day that they wont transfer in a firearm that they already have in stock. Why would that matter?!?! Said theyd do the transfer for the amount of the firearm for sale - $90!!! Cant say ive ever heard of anything making less sense...im paying you $35 to make a 5 min phone call and hold onto a 4473 - youre already making money off of me! If it was about the price of what I got it for ($49 vs. $90 at their place), THEN MAYBE YOU NEED TO ADJUST YOUR PRICES. Absolutely horrible customer service. Average Joe's down the way not only TOOK my transfer, but did it for $10 less. Hope you fix this before the dominos begin to fall. read more

First let me say, I have little knowledge of firearms. I was going to drive 45 minutes to a larger more well known gun store. But after I thought about it, I decided I wanted to try to spend my money a little closer to home (I live in Laconia). I went in the store and looked around for a couple minutes before a employee asked me if there was anything he could help me with. I told him I was interested in buying a pistol. Something I could conceal but had stopping power. He asked me if it was strictly for concealing/safety or if I would be taking it to the range from time to time. I told him I'd like to be able to use it now and then. He recommended a 9mm or 40. But he said it was really a matter of personal preference. He seemed pretty strait forward with me. I decided to turn around and check out their used guns. After 30 seconds or so I asked him if there was any reason I shouldn't buy a used gun instead of new. As I really had no preference and would prefer to save a few bucks if it was just a matter of appearance. He said it didn't really matter. I figured he would tell me I should try to at least hold each of them to since I told him I had only shot a couple pistols a couple times each...and it had been several years. But he didn't...no biggie. After spending a total of about 4 maybe 5 minutes in the store, I had it down to 3 different guns I was interested in. I was going to ask him if I could hold each of them to get a feel for them. Although they had a shooting range there, I had no idea if it was possible to try/fire any of them before purchasing. But I never got to ask him. Just before I asked, a couple walked into the shop. He told me he was going to see if there was anything they needed. After 10 minutes of helping the other couple he walked away and never came back to help me. I stood there looking in his direction. But he made sure not to look at me. I walked into the store with cash. I planned on spending $400-$700 on a gun. I walked out thinking I can go anywhere and get horrible service. I might as well drive to the bigger place and pay 20% less for the same gun and have a bigger selection. I usually give people the benefit of the doubt. As I've worked in retail sales. But this was ridiculous. This little store was probably only six or seven hundred square feet...and they had at least 2 people in the shop. The other guy looked like he may have been the owner. In short, if you plan on going to Belmont Firearms & Range to make a purchase, I recommend putting hundred dollar bills on the counter before you start talking to a employee....it may be the only way to keep their attention. read more

Buyer beware!!! Stay away!!! I went to purchase a suppressor which requires a federal tax stamp. I paid in cash, 1st mistake, and was told that Bob the owner and head ahole would do my paperwork asap. I checked back every other day for two weeks and the required paper work for the federal tax stamp, which is required and can only be completed by Bob had not been done. Again without the federal tax stamp I could not purchase the suppressor. So I told him not to bother and would like to have my money refunded, that did not go over well with Bob the owner. He said he has a store credit only policy which apparently he does. I tried to explain to him that I had not purchased anything, because without a tax stamp there is no suppressor. So Bob is now nasty, rude and arrogant. If I had used a credit card this would not have been a issue. I stopped in two weeks after the last phone conversation to try to pickup my passport photos and fingerprints that I dropped off the day I tried to purchase the suppressor and Bob was going to hand them over , until I had the nerve to ask for my money back. There were customers in the shop so arrogant Bob was pretty calm and quite, he did point out that he runs a reputable business and pointed out the sign store credit only. I mentioned to him that reputable businesses give their customers money back when they are not happy, and also pointed out that there was never a sale because of the lack of the tax stamp. Had arrogant Bob filled out his paperwork and mailed it in with my check for the tax stamp I wouldn't be having this conversation with him I would have owned the suppressor upon approval from the feds. It was not until after this started I went on to read the reviews on his place , 2nd mistake, should have done this first and then I would not have had to write this review on arrogant Bob. So with this being said I hope you read this BEFORE giving arrogant Bob your hard earned money. Oh and just one other thing, a bigger AHOLE you will not find. read more

The prices are high, including transfers, and the long list of range rules do not get addressed when someone opens up rapid fire inspite of the 1 second a shot rule. There really should be an option for zero stars just for this place.. ABSOLUTE crooks !!! Not only did I get ripped off, but so did at least two other people that I know.. They like to take stuff out of the box that comes from the factory and then sell it to you. I bought a G20 and they ALL come with two magazines, but I was told this model only comes with one. He even "checked the book to confirm it" , so I can't chalk it up to an honest mistake. A friend of mine bought a Ruger there and not only did they take two of the three mags out that it came with , they took the Troy sights off it and charged extra for all of that stuff... needless to say, none of us are ever going back...and just know that you can only screw people so many times before word gets out that you're a crook !!! read more

I brought a group of 10 guys here for a bachelor party. We were running late but the staff was very accommodating and worked with us (even when we were delayed an extra 35 minutes because one of the guys had to run back to the house we'd rented because he forgot his ID). Most of us had shot before but 2 or 3 hadn't so we were given a great explanation on the operation of each gun as well as the safety guidelines. We initially rented a couple of handguns and a few hundred rounds but after talking to the staff we also rented a SCAR assault rifle. Great weapon and so much fun to shoot! We will definitely stop in again when we're in the area. read more
