This location is the absolute worst! Buyer beware. I have been a long time loyal customer of B&J and frequented this location. Over the years of this location has deteriorated. Such unreliable, poor customer service and poor cleanliness. Today is the straw that broke the camel's back. I ordered a $60 birthday cake for my son's birthday three days in advance for 12 PM pick up. I went to pick it up at 1 PM and they let me know it's going to be an additional 30 minutes and the cake wasn't ready. I had to scramble to go back to pick it up and still meet the time for my son's birthday party. I go to pick it up at 2 pm and they tell me that it needs more time in the freezer or will fall apart. Causing me to have to change my plans so that the cake doesn't fall apart before the party. I open the cake and they spell half of his name on it (not misspelled... they decided to spell just half of it. Made no sense). Never again will I give this place my money. read more

We came to this location for their free cone day and really loved the area it was in since it was around the mall. We struggled with finding some street parking for a bit to not have to pay for the garage and we were able to find a spot up the street. The workers were very nice, especially the girl who was working at the time. One odd thing that I noticed was that it was 15 minutes before closing and they were putting the gate down already to close up. Last weekend I had the opportunity to sample (more than once, shh...) their new Chocolate Macadamia ice cream: chocolate and vanilla ice creams with fudge covered macadamia nuts (sustainably-sourced of course!). It was yummy and left me dreaming about it for days. Then I remembered I still had my free birthday cone coupon that I got for signing up for their ChunkMail. Free ice cream is a good thing. Alas, this location did not have the new Chocolate Macadamia flavor or the Hubby Hubby (temporarily named that way to show their support). Nor did they have the Goodbye Yellow Brickle Road flavor. The shop is small but has several entrances (from the mall side and from the street side). This place is conveniently located in the middle of the movie theaters and everything else that people go so see in downtown Silver Spring, and one of relatively few Ben and Jerry's left in the DC area. Their scoop shops don't seem to be doing that well for whatever reason (though I suspect their product is stil being bought by many). They weren't really wowing me with their selection; I feel like the Rockville one had a few more flavors, maybe. More that I like, anyway. Word is that B&J's is looking into the vegan ice cream market, but they're not there yet. read more

If the outdoor temperature is above 80 or so, avoid this location. Sadly, at the very time when ice cream is most desirable (in hot weather), this location doesn't have freezers that adequately work to keep the ice cream frozen. All you get is cold mush. I complained once and the person merely shrugged and said, "it's hot out." I've given them a few chances to demonstrate that they can keep ice cream frozen, and they've proven they can't. Unless and until they get new freezers that work (something that ice cream parlors all over seem to have), I can't recommend this location in hot weather. This Ben and Jerry's location is great. I've been three or four times and the staff is friendly, efficient and helpful. Recently I stopped by to pick up an ice cream cake I ordered online. The cashier went immediately to get it for me and her colleague stepped in and ran the register. I watched three different people with their elaborate and generous ice cream towers, waffle cones and sundaes come to the checkout. Each one used a credit card to pay and all three of them declined the option to tip. Come on, people - these nice women are here in a crowded shop, providing scoop after scoop with a smile on their face, catering to all your requests for extra whipped cream, more fudge, etc...the least we can do is TIP THEM! read more

Purchased a Groupon for 8 cones or cups from Ben and Jerry's. Details stipulate you have 6 months to redeem the Groupon for a punch card, which does not have an expiration date. I redeemed just before covid. Tonight I tried to use the punch card and was informed they don't take them anymore. The girl called her manager to confirm and put me on the phone with the manager. Manager told me I must have had them for more than 3 years (despite my Groupon purchase date with an expiration date of July 2020) and there is nothing they can do to honor them. The details of the purchase also stipulate I redeem at this location- though the manager suggest I try another location (next closest location is 30 min away and NOT included on the Groupon details). Lost my business for good. Groupon did right to credit back my wasted and unused punch card. read more
