I love Mimi's! If you're craving interesting flavors in a cozy atmosphere, come here. The employees are generous when it comes to samples and their pralines&honey is superb (as well as the cucumber sherbet). I love a tasty veggie option. Tomato would be interesting, I wonder if it's ever been on the menu. My last visit involved a Thai Basil and something with coffee in it. Can't remember the name, but both were wonderful! My favorite in the area!! Mimi's has a fabulous rotation of a flavors at any given time. We usually go for the seasonal and Asian flavors that are on hand. Black sesame is a winner, as is matcha. As someone from the Phils. I'm a bit critical as to their Ube, which is good but not excellent -- it's not as buttery and balanced as it should be. I have hope it will get there though. The lemon flavors in the summer are lovely. The staff is always really nice and helpful with samples and packing pints if they didn't have certain ones on hand. It's a small shop with a handful of seats but a large selection of ice cream flavors. Most of the regular ones, plus a few odd ones like maple bourbon bacon. While visiting family I saw this place and wanted to try it. I thought the flavors were good and you are able to sample what you like. They were very friendly & helpful. However, check your receipts. I noticed I was charged a waffle cone and I only had a cake cone. Then I was charged 2 single when I asked for 2 kids and was not given that price. I wasn't able to get a receipt either. All seems a bit odd. I have to wait for my statement to see exactly what I was charged. As for the ice cream, they were good. I liked the lemon poppyseed and almond biscotti. I was in the mood for a milkshake the other day and found this place in my search for "best milkshake". I realized i've been here before. Their flavors are quite innovative. I had the Thai Ice Tea milkshake. It was pretty good. It was creamy and had a very good flavor. I sampled some of their other flavors before focusing on this one. It was a hard choice as all their ice creams are delicious. The milkshake did not disappoint. Now, the reason why its not getting 5 stars. For what appears to be a standard 16oz cup, the milkshake was 10 bucks. That's a little steep for a milkshake where I can get them elsewhere for between 7 and 8 dollars seems to be the norm, this place is 20-30% higher. There is no dispute that this is a good milkshake, but is it worth the 20-30% upcharge? That's the issue that I'm not sure about, and that's why the lack of the 5th star. read more

When it is hot outside, where do you go? I go for some cool and creamy ice cream. I have been meaning to try Mimi's Handmade Ice Cream. Since, it was a holiday, I called on the phone to make sure they were open...they couldn't have been nicer. I was greeted as soon as I walked in the door. I tasted the Baileys flavor of ice cream and the super Oreo flavor. Both were tasty and I ended up ordering a scoop of the Baileys flavor and boy was it delicious. You could taste the Baileys liquor, but it wasn't overpowering. The surprise was the chocolate chunks in the ice cream. I call it a chocolate chip for adults. ; ) Mimi's has some tables and chairs for inside seating. I liked the cute vibe. The young ladies who waited on me were as sweet as can be. My scoop size was very generous. I enjoyed every last bite. It is nice to know that they also have vegan flavors available. Great service, nice ambiance, and a great ice cream. Sunday 7/7/2024 This spot had been on my radar since i first saw it open back in fall 2023 but now I'm finally trying it for myself. I sampled around 5 different flavors until I finally decided on what to get. I also noticed they had a special for buy 3 pints and get 1 pint free so that's exactly what I did. I got an ube pint $9, super Oreo pint $9, mango pint $9, and a prepacked guava pint FREE. - The super Oreo pint was my clear favorite: it was creamy, delicious, and is up there for the best cookies n cream flavors I've ever had (might be top 3). - The mango pint surprised me as I did not think I was going to like it that much. It reminded me of real, & authentic mango ice cream that I'd get at a Jamaican/carribean ice cream spot (aka York castle) which is a great thing. - The ube pint was decent but I've had better Ube flavors that I ultimately prefer. But what makes it different is the fact that it seems to have ube pieces mixed within the ice cream which is very unique as I've never had that before until now. - The guava pint was only available for prepacked but I didn't let that top me from trying it. I'm not a huge fan of guava in general but it was decent. Overall, this experience is up there for some of the best ice cream I've had in ALL of Maryland. They were friendly, knowledgeable about the ice cream, and took their time with each patron despite other patrons walking in. I decided on the flight (which is a new offering). The ice cream was ok, but to be honest, I wasn't blown away by it. Maybe I didn't choose the best flavor? What really caused me concern though, both as a parent and public health nurse, is that when I reached in to grab a spoon at the receptacle by the register, I noticed two small spoons used for samples in there as well. It was clear someone had disposed of their used spoons in it after sampling ice cream. I immediately notified the employee that was ringing us up. She proceeded to dispose of all of the spoons in the receptacle, went to grab new spoons, and was about to place new spoons into the receptacle without washing it. I gently told her that it would be a good idea if she washed it before placing clean spoons in it. To me this is common sense. You don't put clean spoons in a container that had dirty spoons in it. It's unsanitary. Perhaps they need additional training in food safety? read more

Thankfully, the shopping center is able to keep a summer treat available when we make our Trader Joe's runs on Rockville Pike. We came on an unseasonably warm winter day and there seemed to be a steady stream of customers. Service was friendly and prompt. I tried the Bailey's Irish Cream, but we were there to buy pints and my kids got to pick. So, we took home a pint of Thai Iced Tea and another of Espresso. We put them in the freezer for a couple of hours, but when we took them out they remained perfectly soft for serving and full of flavor. The parking lot of this shopping center can be tricky, but spaces quickly open. There were many flavors, all clearly marked for allergens, including vegan options. I happened to walk into this place during my conference visit and I am so glad I did!! I got to try so many flavors that tasted amazing and had a hard time deciding which ones to pick since I won't be back for the foreseeable future. I didn't even realize there was a whole freezer with really creative flavors in addition to the flavors displayed out in the front. I'm very adventurous when it comes to food and got to sample really interesting flavors like wasabi peas (my first time ever seeing that in an ice cream flavor and to my surprise it was really good). Then I found my all-time favorite ice cream when I tasted their cucumer sherbet. Highly recommended if you like something refreshing! I even got a cup to go to eat in my hotel room. Overall, all ice cream flavors I tasted were excellent in quality. Service is also very friendly and highly attentive. I sat there for half an hour or so and saw a lot of locals and regulars coming in to buy ice cream while having a nice chat with the staff members. I wish I lived nearby so I could come back regularly. As an ice cream enthusiast it was incredible to find this place after it opened because the MoCo area has sorely been missing an ice cream place with this caliber of ice cream. I come here multiple times a week now and the ice cream has been perfect every time. The flavors don't miss a beat. The butterscotch is one of my favorites but I've tried most of the flavors at this point and all are exceptional in their own right. The mint and dark chocolate are so well done. There is room for improvement on the Sundae. It's the right amount of Sundae and it looks good in a photo but they need to consider putting it in a bigger cup. This way you can use hotter fudge and let it run like it should, as well as fit the amount of whipped cream it deserves on top. Also, add-in's like nuts make a Sundae great and with a larger cup I guarantee I'd walk away a happier customer even if it's the same amount of ice cream. Don't skip this place! read more
