In 2012 I bought an engagement ring from Ben Moss in Regina, Saskatchewan for $4500.00 and the relationship ended before I proposed. So the ring has been sitting in a safe until a month ago. I was told that Ben Moss would take a previous ring in on a trade. So I brought the ring in a month ago for them to send the ring to their office in Toronto and was told that it would be two weeks. I just got off the phone with the manager of the store and he told me that I wouldn't receive any valve for the ring to trade. The reason is that there was a bad diamond in the ring and I could pay extra to replace the bad diamond and then pay another $90 to send it back to the main office in Toronto to get the ring appraised. So basically, Ben Moss is telling me that they sold me a $4500.00 ring that had a lifetime guarantee that had a bad diamond in the ring. When the manager told me that it wasn't his staff that sold me the ring and he would like to help me pick out the perfect engagement ring, I told him I would be taking my business elsewhere. Bought a 10 k gold bracelet on line at first I was impressed it came early. I put it on and the bracelet fit ok even a little loose. while sitting outside with family I felt a slight tickle on my wrist it was the bracelet it broke. I read the papers that came with the bracelet, to save time I decided to take it to the jewelry store at south center mall. First they tried to tell me I had to send it back by email I pointed out where it stated you could bring it to the store. Then I was made to feel that it was my fault for it breaking it by now I was getting annoyed I stated what is the problem either send it to be fixed and or replace it after all I had only had it on for an hour or so. Finally they prepared forms to send it for repaired at my expense ! and tried to sell me a plan that covers any damage for life. So after receiving the bracelet and wearing it for an hour or less I had to pay to get it fixed. So not impressed with this store it's staff and the whole Ben Moss experience I doubt I shall ever buy anything from Ben Moss again. It says a lot when the jewelry store doesn't even back its product , have sent a email to Ben Moss with these concerns we shall see what kind of customer service I get at this point my hopes are not very high. read more

Just finished my lay away on a 20th Anniversary wedding ring for my husband. When I initially picked out the ring the sales lady, Debbie, never once offered for me to handle the rings. Always just showing them to me from a distance behind the counter. I haven't bought a ring in 20 years I figured this is common practice. I made several payments over time and one time requested to see the ring to refresh my memory and again she only showed me the ring never let me hold it or touch it. Well imagine my shock when today after I paid the final instalment I was able to hold the ring and it is so cheap!!!!!!!!!! I thought it was half gold and half silver. No it's silver and half gold plated. It is so light and has a hollow back. That will not be a comfortable ring to wear. It will dig into his finger. I'm so sad. This was suppose to be special. I scrimped and skimmed off grocery money to buy this ring ($699) so he would be totally surprised. That is no easy feat for a family of 6! She said I could have a full refund within 30 days. I guess I'll take her up on that. But for today I'll just think about it. What a let down. I will not shop here again! ***** UPDATED REVIEW***** I spoke with a different Ben Moss employee and I was reassured my ring is white gold and the yellow gold is not plated and will last. They offered a full refund one month after the gift is received which is months from now. After speaking with this employee I feel much better about my purchase. I still hold to above review that the original sales woman should have allowed me to handle the rings I was a viewing. But the issues I had with purchased ring have been rectified. Zero updates or information on why they haven't shipped your purchase a month after purchasing and constant inquiries about what's going on. Under no circumstances should you be sucked in with their "online exclusives". The packaging it comes in looks like the box that came with your grandma's Christmas novelty broach from Walmart. The necklace I purchased said it had a diamond on it - I knew it was tiny - like a chip - but when it arrived, it had the same clarity as a salt crystal . I couldn't even get a sparkle out of it when I brought it into the retail location with their lights that sparkles up every piece of jewelry you are wearing. The sales person I spoke to told me that was what to expect at that price point. I'm wondering what the point of the diamond accent was if you can't see it sparkle- even just a little. The matching earrings had settings that were uneven. I can see it now in the photo, but reasoned it was simply the angle the photo was taken at. The sales person tried to gaslight me by saying it was just how it was put on the cardboard display. Except I have eyes. Lesson learned: the online exclusive is just cheap junk they are pawning off on unsuspecting internet shoppers. Don't do it. You will end up returning it and going somewhere else. If you can't see it in store, it is not what you want, no matter how attractive the price might be. read more

As a long-time customer of Ben Moss (30 years), I didn't hesitate to take my watch to them for repair. BIG MISTAKE! They advised me that they would send my Eco-Drive Watch directly to Citizen for repair. They would only be charging me for shipping (uninsured) at a cost of $45.00. They advised me that I would only pay what Citizen would charge for the repair. The repair charge from Citizen came back at $95.10 . Ben Moss charged me $212.75 for the repair that Citizen did. Add on the $45.00 and the privilege of being a Ben Moss customer cost me a total of $257.75 (+GST). I lodged a complaint with Ben Moss head office. The regional sales manager for the Calgary area called me back. She confirmed that it was standard practice to up charge for any service that they have others suppliers do. I can see them charging me for the shipping and a small markup on the repair charge... but more than double? Come on Ben Moss! Is this how you treat your loyal customers, with a money grab that is nothing short of thievery? Well, I will NEVER step foot in a Ben Moss store again. read more

We got my ring resized after doing Christmas shopping from 19th to 26th I kept getting calls about other rings we looking at but didn't ask for any info and then 2 calls saying ring was ready when it was the wrong person. If I could give them 0 stars, I would. Now that they have gone bankrupt, they are no longer honouring previous warranties. I understand that the company is bankrupt, but from a customers standpoint, when I walk through the mall and see the Ben Moss sign, I really don't care who owns it. I purchased a warranty and it should be upheld if the store still exists, regardless of who owns it. I took my ring to people's to be fixed since I can trust that they are who they say they are. Decided to get a birthday gift for my girlfriend so I stopped by here to see what they had and they were very helpful and polite. Most places are pushy and try to sell products to you that you`re not interested in but they did not do that here. I had a complete custom order that turned out PERFECT and they got a quote for me very quickly and even giving me the wrong quote the first time, the employee working there didn't want me to pay full price and lowered it down a hundred plus dollars. I would give a 4 star rating because of one flaw. They do take a while on custom orders, other than that, very friendly staff always willing to help you out. I would recommend this store to others.
