I don't live in Bend, but was visiting family, and decided to give BENDover a try based on the many good Yelp reviews. It definitely lives up to the hype! Despite all the new rules everyone has to abide by due to Covid, the whole process from booking online to checking out was smooth and comfortable. Updated to 3 stars, here's why: The owner of this business has promptly responded and is eager to make things right. She has shown she cares about her customers' experience. Also, yay that she uses cornstarch baby powder instead of talc. This is good news! For those of us trying to avoid exposure to phthalates it would be safer still to use something without a synthetic fragrance. The product used during my appointment was highly scented like the original version of baby powder, hence my thinking that it was the original, but it turns out J&J is adding back this fragrance to their cornstarch version. eeek! I'm sensitive to phthalates (migraines) and wrongly assumed this business would be using phthalate-free products. The owner's response says a lot about how much she cares about her reviews and this is great to see. P.S. I use and trust Yelp often and try to be as honest in my reviews as I hope others will be. When reviewers refrain from posting honestly Yelp can't continue to be a legitimate source of help. First time here today and had a very surprising and unexpected experience. Appointment was clearly made with Jamie but arrived to discover that Jamie wasn't there but she never contacted me to cancel/reschedule. Was met by another technician asking if it was okay if she did my wax instead. Huh? Not really...that's why I booked with Jamie. But I agreed with some hesitation and was disappointed I wasn't informed of this before I arrived. She began my appointment with no intake forms, no questions about history, allergies or sensitivities. I was asked into her waxing room only to find the dirty linens from client before me still on the table. Eww. Wax tech then threw one dirty towel off the table but still left a visibly dirty towel at the head of the table. I asked her to remove this and she did but she never REPLACED the linens with clean ones, she just left a bottom sheet that had been there for I-don't-know-how-long. I really wanted to walk out at this point but I was only getting my underarms waxed so I figured I'd try to get past this and continue. Wax tech began without washing her hands or putting on gloves! Whaaat? These practices are not even remotely hygienic but the surprises didn't stop there. Wax tech brought out a jumbo sized Johnson & Johnson Baby Powder (do they really still sell this stuff?) and prepped my skin with it. Dude... this stuff is toxic! Easy online search if you don't already know about the lawsuits over the use of this stuff. It felt like I'd walked back in time about 30 years when we didn't know better about hygiene, talc and the need for intake forms. All the while the tech was very friendly so I gave 2 stars. I'm new to Bend and hope there's a higher level of professionalism available. read more

First of all I am a male, so this review is from a male perspective. Let me start with the good: My schedule was a little bit all over the place. I had an appointment that I canceled. I made another appointment that I canceled but I changed it for the week later, yet a few days later I canceled that later appointment for the appointment that I originally made (not the best way of introducing myself obviously). Anyway, Jamie had zero problems with this and made it work! She was simply happy that I canceled my appointments several days in advance. Jamie works out of her house, it is a little strange at first as it's not a "commercial building" environment, but it starts having that normal feel after just a few minutes time. In all honesty I prefer the house over some waxing/beauty salon, especially since I am a guy. Her waxing room is just steps from the front door, so no worry about taking a home tour. I had a male brazilian done plus back and nostrils. Now I have had a brazilian done many times, from Eugene to Fresno (I drive for a living), and I will tell you that Jamie is the best! She is a pro at keeping the conversation going, she is fast, and she keeps the atmosphere relaxed. I think the best part was when she did the backside, the way she did the waxing was the opposite of everybody else, and it is in all honesty how everybody else should start doing it. Jamie is respectful, loving, and kind. She gives a nice Oklahoma style attitude, something that I can't explain in writing but needless to say it's a good thing. So, as for the bad (Sorry Jamie). My bad part for this review is that it will be July or August before I can see her again. It sucks that my hair doesn't grow back in just a couple weeks because I wouldn't mind seeing her again! Like I said, I have had a brazilian done on me many times, but Jamie is the one that I would prefer out of everybody else. So, read my other yelp reviews that I have on here for waxing. I am from Portland and was in town for vacation but didn't have time to get a wax before I left. I read some very positive reviews for all of Jamie's services and decided to take a chance. I have been seeing the same esthetician in Portland for ten years and she is the best in the metro area; with a large clientele, several write-ups in the Best Of issue of Portland monthly and also, VERY EXPENSIVE. Let me tell you, if I could steal Jamie and take her back to Portland, I would! She was wonderful. Very warm and personable, very good at what she does. Jamie is clearly highly experienced and I felt comfortable right off the bat. I had a brow wax and tint and a brazilian. I have probably had hundreds of these over the years and Jamie's service was top notch. She was friendly, quick and I experienced zero pain. She heard everything I had to say, refunded my money, and was offering to give me a free hair growth product along with other solutions. Very shortly after I got a text from the technician apologizing and offering a free brow tint to help make them look fuller. She got me in a few hours later, did the tint, and it definitely helped! Just had my first waxing experience with BENDover studio and was impressed! Easy to find, ample parking, and very cute and comfortable studio. Alana made me feel at ease right away with her super friendly demeanor and welcoming attitude. And I will say that this was by far the most painless waxing experience I've ever had (and I'm pregnant, which typically makes you more sensitive). I'm such a lightweight when it comes to pain, but I seriously questioned if I was even being waxed at times because it was about as pain-free as it could be! I'm still in shock! I went with just the extended bikini because I wanted to see how it went pain-wise before committing to the full thing. I will do full Brazilian next time given my positive experience this time. She responded to me very quickly and helped schedule my appointments. Jamie was awesome! She was very friendly and kind in person too the minute I met her. Jamie has that special gift of being professional and super friendly at the same time. Her office is at her home, as in, through the front door and through her living room, home office, so that's something to note for your first visit. At first it feels just a little awkward. However, she makes you feel comfortable right away and once you're in the treatment room you feel like you're in any other waxing salon. I applaud her for creating such a great business right from home! She is super speedy AND precise--a hard to find combination. For reference, I've lived in and gotten waxes in NYC, Portland, Denver, San Antonio and San Francisco. I've only gotten a Brazilian wax from her (about 6 or so times now) and she really is great. Jamie does business out of her home. For me, this makes it much more comfortable & relaxing. She has a very nice, clean room setup where she hold her appointments. This was my first time (ever!) getting waxed & she made it a breeze. She's very professional, but also very personable at the same time.
