The things I loved: -they support e-tickets!! This may seem like a no brainer, but as Ithaca busses go, believe me it's not. I thought this made the process wayyy easier. - the outlets on board actually work!! Again, not as much of a given as you'd think. -your spot is reserved. They make you buy a ticket based on bus time, so no matter where you are on line, you'll get on the bus. The sh*tshowy part: -the "bus station" which I think is the pharmacy?? Is closed... so online is pretty much your only option to purchase tickets. -they stop at Binghamton on the way to New York. Every other bus service also does this, but the others at least let you know in advance. Would love to see a truly direct bus route. -there are ~technically~ two buses per day to New York, but the later is a 10 hour ride due to some confusing layovers... so there's really only one bus a day. Not sure if this is a Covid development but the inconvenience cannot be overstated. Last thing for the high-stress people like me: there is only one place that the Greyhound departs from in Ithaca, on Green Street in front of Urban Outfitters. It's a little unclear on the website, but here's your confirmation that you're in the right spot take a deep breathe.

Or how sketchy the bathrooms are, where one of the toilet stalls is taped up with a note indicating that it's out of order and there's no toilet paper in it? Or how one sink has -no- running water, and the other sink is marginally better... but good luck finding hand soap or paper towels. The sole attendant was "helpful" in the most basic way: he greeted us, then pointed to the door through which we'd be boarding our bus after we explained we were waiting on our return trip back to NYC. Helpful, indeed... considering all of the -two- doors one could choose from. I tried coming up with any transit hub (is that even a relevant term for what this place is?) that's shoddier. Nope. Mentally and emotionally I have to brace for this horrific trip every time I need to come home to Pennsylvania from NYC. There are no trains near my hometown and no other buses--ONLY this one. It takes about 3 and a half hours to drive straight to my hometown but nearly 7 every time I take this bus, when it should be five. Here's what you can guarantee you'll experience on this bus: -Driver suddenly pulls over somewhere completely random during the trip, says nothing and has us wait about a half hour at LEAST before another driver comes. No explanation. -at the bus transfer in Lehighton, we wait another 30 minutes for the transfer bus to arrive. -At least one person forgets what their stop was and makes the driver turn around, we sit at a stop waiting for one person to arrive to the bus, and we park at Hazelton for at least 15 minutes for no reason even though the schedule says it leaves immediately. This doesn't include the handful of bus breakdowns I've experienced, uncomfortable seats, lack of outlets and often, lack of air conditioning or heat. Oh, and it's $140 round trip. To take a bus. Back to Pennsylvania. I have endured this trip for years because I've had to. The MINUTE I am making enough money to justify getting a rental car, I will take that option every time and never look back. An entire day is shot just trying to get not even four hours away. By the end of every trip, I'm practically crawling off the bus isn't he worst mood I've ever been in. Nothing can save you on this trip except maybe a double dose of CBD.

Prices are still cheap around here and often buses have hardly anyone on them. And yet they still keep running, and they're still vital for college kids and some residents alike. So Bing-town is like the old days when services were provided just because they're convenient for people rather than because they are very profitable. I guess it might be easier in a smaller town to get that done but congratulations for Binghamton getting it done.
