The Pine Creek Rail Trail runs through the base of the gorge itself, which can be accessed by driving partway down to the parking areas and then hiking or biking in. Or you could opt to take some challenging hikes down the sides of the canyon to the bottom from one of the trailheads at the state parks located on the east (Leonard Harrison) or west (Colton Point) rims. Leonard Harrison State Park offers more amenities, with a visitor's center, and souvenirs and snacks during the busy season, while Colton Point is a bit more basic with picnic tables and overlooks. There is also a covered wagon tour available through Ole Covered Wagon Tours that provide another way to enjoy the base of the canyon, along with a knowledgeable tour guide who can provide information on the history, geology, and nature in the area. If you're unfamiliar with the area, be aware that rattlesnakes and black bears live here.

The campground is wide open with a beautiful view of the lake. The grounds are kept immaculate and it is so quite and peaceful even though it's not very private. The bathrooms are clean and well stocked and the host was around even day checking on things. She was wonderful! We loved our stay and our campsite. Can't wait to be back!

The sites are spacious and clean! Great for us and the dogs. The fire pits were well kept and made a great fire. There were hiking trails everywhere which is great for those who can't sit still. There is also a beautiful beach for swimming. The campground also does canoe and kayak rentals! We rented a kayak for an hour and just floated around the lake for an hour. It was beautiful and a great way to relax. I also loved that you did not need to go to a main house to check in, the paperwork was waiting at the site for us. It was so easy and relaxing. We will definitely be back!

It was nice to sit outside with the leaves falling. This was special to me as I live in Florida and do not have the privileges of seeing falling leaves. Jamie the owner was very pleasant, informative. I tried calling for two days to make reservations, left messages she did return my call. Jamie is running the campground during the week by herself, said she was working outside and apologized for not answering the phone. Don't let this deter you, I am sure you would be very please!! Just another little note very much into recycling. Cans, plastic bags etc. they have big bins for them. KEEP AMERICA CLEAN

Stony Fork Creek Campground is a solid choice for those looking to unwind soaking in the natural beauty of the area and has become the go-to place for the annual family reunion. This well-maintained camping area boasts cabins, a fishing lake, a trout stream, and proximity to the bike trail. With 225 sites for full hookup sites and tent sites, visitors have raved about clean facilities, including bathrooms and showers with great water pressure. Improved WiFi signals. The staff was friendly and patrolled the grounds periodically. Being situated in a little valley with ridges on each side, it makes for some beautiful scenery and photography. Each moment was an opportunity to create a lasting memory that is filled with love, laughter, and shared experiences.
