My husband and I tried coming to the Benefit Cosmetics counter two days ago in the late afternoon (after 2pm), but there was nobody attending the counter. We wanted a brow wax and waited around half an hour to see if an attendant would show, but nobody did. So instead we scheduled a wax for today in the afternoon originally at ~12pm, but then we had to call in and change it to 3pm. When we get to the mall at 2:51pm, nobody was at the counter again. We waited until 3:15pm, but still nobody was at the counter. Then we walked around the mall until ~3:40pm and stopped by the counter on the way back to the car, and still nobody was there. It was very disappointing and unprofessional. We ended up just driving like 5 miles further into La Jolla to go to their flagship store on Prospect St and we were immediately helped. I'd suggest saving your time and going directly into the flagship instead of this mall counter. read more

I don't care where I am, I drive 30 min to get to my girls because nobody will ever be more knowledgable, sweet and amazing like Peaches and Bella. Bella is an artist, made my crazy brows look like something out of a magazine. And Peaches, you can spot her a mile away, with a great smile and that sassy attitude. Moving back to threading now. ---- I booked an appointment with Bella based on all the five star reviews on Yelp....and I had to run online as soon as I got back to add yet another five star review for her! The Benefit Brow Bar is located adjacent to the Benefit counter and high-end purse section on the lower level of Macy's in UTC. Her appointments were running a few minutes behind, which was fine because it gave me some time to peruse the fancy bags & shoes. Bella started with a brow consultation, where she measured my brows and discussed a "game plan" for evening them out. Within a few minutes, she had waxed (painlessly) and cleaned up my brows to a perfect shape. She is a pro at what she does and I am grateful for all the Yelp reviews for helping me find her. After the brow wax, the girl at the Benefit Counter added some coverup and High Brow to make sure I was ready to go back to work sans redness. She was lovely, too, and not pushing me on buying cosmetics. You will end up paying at the Benefit Cosmetics counter (part of Macys - so they take Macys gift cards - woo woo!), so remember to bring cash for Bella's tip. I came in here recently to buy some makeup, and met the best employees! They both as a fun team did my makeup since they had time, and put on some lashes that I purchased. Sandra and Sebastian were really sweet and knowledgeable about the Benefit products, and were glad to assist customers to make them super happy! They made a great effort to fit me in at the last minute. Alex is their only brow specialist in the UTC location right now and she is very friendly and does a good job. The shape was nice, but a little more was taken off than I had expected, but I believe it was my fault for not specifying in the first place. She also did a good job to make sure it was a clean removal and as pain free during and after, as possible. They ended the removal with some make-up application for the brows, which I think is a very well-rounded beauty experience. I will be back, and this time, I will make an appointment! read more

BELLA. HI BELLA! The other reviews testify that Bella is a genius. I agree. Bella is a genius. Backstory: I have (or now I guess used to have) this weird insecurity that my eyebrows were uneven. I no longer have this insecurity. Bella is such an artist and such a sweetheart. She is SO GOOD to her clients, so sweet, she REMEMBERS the things you talk about even though you only see her every couple of months (or so), and she does a GREAT job. Something I really appreciate is that she not only does an AMAZING job on your brows, but she also treats you so well. She is great to talk to and makes the experience seriously enjoyable. I am so disappointed. I have been getting my brows done at random hole in the wall nail places for years but was referred to benefit for their "expertise and gentle wax" so i decided to give it a try. My brows look fantastic but, she burned my skin so bad that I haven't been able to wear makeup. I have had neosporin on my lids all day and they still hurt. And on one eye t looks like she cut me or at least tore the skin. It's bad. Bad bad bad. And so painful. I rebooked but will not be returning to the same lady. I might try a different benefit maybe but I would recommend not going to the UTC Macy's benefit. Ouch! read more

I Never EVER post, but just had to...I Have gone to the same eyebrow expert for the last 10 years, but just couldn't make the drive to rancho bernardo (yes she's that good) so I stopped in here quickly... Not only was this girl disrespectful, but she sounded completely unprofessional, and kept telling me how she needed to hurry up so she could grab a snack...this was after the fact that I set up an appointment and showed up early so as not to waste her time! THEN...the real kicker....she BURNT my eyebrow! AND took off part of it! It looked like a complete disaster. I had to wear cover up to hide the burn mark AND pencil in my brows...RIDICULOUS! Again, another bad experience. Stopped going to the eyebrow threading place in the same mall. Decided I would try the brow bar for waxing as I was leaving the mall. There was no line one person in the chair. I stopped sat in the empty seat sited for about 15 minutes, then the woman says, "oh are you just resting?" I'm thinking, who stops in the middle of the mall and rest in a waiting chair. So I said, "no, I'm waiting to have my brows lashed." After 15 minutes of waiting, I'm then told that there is a waiting list...smh then she says,"I close at 6:40." It was 4:00 pm Macy's, beware of poor employees. Just got my free birthday brows done at the Benefit's counter and I had a great experience. I wish I caught the name of the girl who helped me but she did a great job! I walked up and mentioned that I had an appointment and was helped right away. I was worried that I wouldn't get the full service because I was getting a free wax but she did a fantastic job at mapping my brows first, waxing them, trimming them, and then finally plucking out the stubborn ones. At the end she wiped aloe over my brows and even filled my brows back in and added some concealer around the redness of my brow bones. Very clean and professional My only recommendation would be that since my birthday fell on a Sunday, I somehow could only get my free brows done between that Sunday and the next Sunday. And they didn't offer appointments on Sundays so I ended up getting it done after my birthday. It would have been nice if I could've gotten them done before my birthday. read more

Prescilla was absolutely amazing!! I'm usually nervous when getting my eye brows done bc, let's face it, they're my eye brows and on my face..just a wee bit hard to hide if someone screws them up (which has happen in the past). The only person I go to see is Shyanne. She's sweet and knows her stuffs. She's great at doing eyebrows, whether its waxing or doing brows make up. She is a perfectionist. Bella is gone and the replacement girl is rude and has no customer service -- have been going for 2 years and have recommended this place to lots of ppl but will be telling them all to avoid this place as well. They don't keep track of appts so if you leave work and waste your lunch finding parking to go in dont be surprised if they say sorry don't have you in the book (this is even after calling 2x to confirm time and date). All you get is a "sorry - you should have made sure they had your info right in the book". Ok sorry didn't realize I need to do your job as well as pay $20 for the service... Bella at the Macy's counter in La Jolla is AMAZING! She is so sweet and so genuine, once you have a friendship with her she will always be there for you! My eyebrows have never looked better than they do now, she takes her time, she knows what she is doing and you walk out of there smiling everytime. Eyebrows are alot more important than you think, it is the first thing I notice and most people don't take care of their eyebrows like they shoud...they frame your face. I've been getting my eyebrows waxed at Brow Bar for over two years, and the service is usually excellent. I went to get my free brow wax on my birthday but the girl had to reschedule me to this week, four days later. She said clearly it would be free, as there had not been room on my actualbirthday. When I arrived at my appointment, however, the girl looked at me like I was crazy and told me I could only have a free birthday wax during the week of my birthday. I told her I knew that, but I had been told an exception would be made because there was no room the day of. She acted like I was trying to pull one over on her. I'm sure it was awkward for her as well, but I'd taken time out of my busy schedule to drive to UTC for the appointment, not to mention the whole thing was very embarrassing. I receive a ton of compliments on my brows, I can say this without ego because I have nothing to do with it, I owe it all to Bella. Seems like been waxing my I've been waxing my brows since I was 12 and Bella is the best I've ever had! Not only does she have a great eye for shape and style best suited to my face, she takes her time and is extremely thorough so I don't have to go home and finish the job myself. In the past I've broken out from the wax being too hot or ripped off the wrong way. I never have this experience with Bella, she uses the best products with a gentle touch. She made me feel uncomfortable the entire time, insinuating several racist stereotypes and questioning me in a very invasive way all the whole doing my eyebrows.
