I don't know who I was texting with in the end. They quoted me $100. The two workers arrived right on time, were very polite, and did a beautiful job! However, they spoke no English and used a phone app to communicate. (You speak into the phone, they read the Portuguese that's generated, then they speak into the phone and it spits out English. Who knows how accurate it is.) I lived in a foreign country for 6 years and while I wasn't fluent, I had basic proficiency in the language... admittedly I worked in an industry where people spoke English, but for day-to-day things I was glad I could read and handle basic conversations. (This was pre-smart phone.) I'd love to hire Rose's Cleaning for their organizing service, but can't imagine how you'd do that with someone you couldn't talk to. They get good reviews for that, so maybe I'll try it. I'm skeptical but interested. If all you need is cleaning it probably doesn't matter that you can't communicate without a phone translator. Their work was beautiful and they were punctual and polite. All of that is great. I'm glad they could fit us in!

My friend's boxer started having accidents in his sleep and it just so happened that his favorite place to sleep is on my couch. However, Amy from JP Upholstery replied right away and was efficient, professional and understanding. I was hesitant because the price was higher than I expected but being the neat freak that I am, the idea of the urine setting into the couch was giving me nightmares. Long story short, I confirmed with Amy for the next day to have Joe stop by. He was on time, professional, and efficient. He was able to come out later that same day to assess the job. I had multiple levels of wall-to-wall carpeting, along with two staircases that needed cleaning, and some areas were definitely in better shape than others. Steve took the time to look everything over, explain what could be done, and provide me with a quote for the carpets. During our visit, he also mentioned that he does gutter and siding cleaning, so I asked him to take a look at my gutters as well. He provided a separate quote, and we scheduled the work. Unfortunately, I had some unexpected problems come up and had to reschedule the carpet cleaning twice. Steve was so understanding and accommodating throughout the process--never making me feel like I was inconveniencing him. In the meantime, he came out and cleaned the gutters. I only wish I had taken before-and-after pictures! The gutters came out beautifully and really brightened and refreshed the entire exterior of the house. He also cleaned the screens and the underside of the front porch roof, and the difference was incredible. It honestly looks brand new! Finally, we were able to get Steve and his assistant in to tackle the carpets, and WOW--what a difference!
