One of the featured artists included is Jay Fleming. Last year, I ordered an autographed copy of his latest book for a holiday gift. The proprietor of the gallery, Katherine Burke, actually delivered the book to my door. This year, due to the pandemic, they have pivoted to having frequent online auctions. Their auction platform is very user friendly. I bid on a photo print on canvas and I was the successful bidder. Again, while I was trying to figure out when I would stop in and pick it up, it was delivered to my doorstep. You don't find such personal service in most art houses. This is a great local business and you should definitely take a look at their auction online, or stop in.

When I came to pick up my prints, they were garbage - pixelated, digitally-printed trash. They were not signed, numbered, or in any way gallery quality. When I asked what was going on, Ms. Burke got incredibly defensive and said she would not give me any money back or accept a return; she told me I could hire a lawyer if I wanted to see any of my money. Now Ms. Burke is selling these same countless, crap prints for $35 on her website. My "investment" is not only worthless, but I can't even hang what are essentially thin, Xerox copies on my wall. The true tragedy is that Charles Emery was a fantastic photographer, and this woman has single-handedly devalued his amazing work. Pathetic.

The buyer for the Marine Art Gallery has an amazing eye for talent. Anyone can paint the water--few can capture it. The Gallery is full of artists who have managed to capture the essence of "marine life"--water, sailboats, birds, etc. They also have a couple of artists commissioned, my favorite being Willard Bond. I own several of his prints, all signed by him (he himself is an awesome person). He paints sailboats, and I have yet to come across someone who can paint life into them the way Bond can. Essentially, if you're going to go to an art gallery in Annapolis, or you want "marine art", go here. The selection is phenomenal, the staff helpful. They have a respectable selection of different types of uses for stained glass. They have on window shop display a variety of earrings and necklaces that are handmade, one of a kind unique, which looks like it is made for different pieces of glass. They do traditional, formal, informal, etched glass windows of all sizes. There is this one four foot by three foot etched glass of a couple dancing in a modern Toulouse-Lautrec type of style. They have the 20's look stainglass as well as "hippie" style, as well as anyother style you can conjure up. In this world where everything is now seemed to be made in China, you can walk at the side of the store, its on a corner, and peer into the glass workshop. This is a REAL glass work shop being used for many years. During regular hours you might be able to see the craftsman at work and see different commissioned pieces in various stages of completion.
