Taali with mango lassi

Truly 3.5 stars. Great flavour, fresh food and love the dessert. This plaza is packed with so much variety forcing everyone to compete not only in price but offering us/ spoiling us with some very nice food selections. There is a few tables but really catered for office lunch and not a family meal. There is a washroom (albeit) unmarked. The order counter is quick and efficient in taking your order and preparing it in record time. Nice place for a quick (little messy) bite... be prepared to use your hands and tuck in as the only silverware is a spoon to use.

Bengali Sweets is a small Indian vegetarian take out restaurant specialising in sweets and simple vegetarian fare. Normally when I hear the word "vegetarian" I run away from it like the plague as I'm a full blooded meat eater, but when it comes to Indian I'm totally down for it! They have hot tables where you can order some really good thali plates as well as chaat platters but for me the main draw are the sweets. The Bengal region of India is known for having the best sweets and the ones here are fantastic! The jalebis, ragulla, gulab jamon, rasmalai etc... are all really good here. Sweet, fresh and delicious! Yes you will need to get your insulin ready as you will go into diabetic shock, but hey that is why they call them "sweets" not "bitters" right??? Haha!! The place is really small and has a couple of tables so its more of a take out place. Overall a solid place for some vegetarian Indian fare!

This place is an awesome Thaali place. We come here just to have Thaali and samosas. If you're coming here looking for North Indian food like chaat and pani puri then you're in the wrong place. It's really plain and not that flavourful. The line is always long but worthwhile. The place is small but the smell just lures you into the place. Absolute fav!!!

First time coming here and was very happy with the service provided. We ordered samosas and several boxes of mithai (sweets). The samosas were fresh and not refried like you may get from other places. I personally would have liked the filing to have a little more spice but still tasted very good! They also give you small containers of chutney which you must have when eating samosas. They offer several different options of mithai (sweets) you can choose from. Also very fresh and yummy tasting. Will definitely be going back for more.

Everything was done through online ordering where my payment was taken, and when I went in store to pay I was told they never received my payment and tried to charge me twice. Overall the service here for both in person and take out, is not the greatest. Wait times are long and the staff is not very attentive. When it comes to the food, it's okay. I have ordered the Charminar Veg Dum Biryani would not recommend. Previously have also ordered their Chana Masala and Gopi Manchurian which is decent. The portion sizes are small, and honestly probably won't be ordering from here anymore. 4/10 recommend!

I've dined at other locations of Charminar but this was my first time at the Markham location. The…read morefood tasted great but there were a few things that I just can't ignore. Read on... The Good I had the Goat Biryani Combo from their lunch menu and it was very filling and delicious! It actually included two chicken side dishes, naan, raita, salan, and dessert, making this combo a great value. It was also very filling! The Bad The actual price of the meal was $3.00 more than stated on their menu. Their menu is online and you have to scan a QR code pasted to the table to view it on your mobile phone. Hmmm, suppose you didn't have a phone, or an app to read the QR code? How would I know if I was being scammed by my server? The Not So Great The restaurant is large, obviously two units. One side is very dark and the other side brightly lit. Decor is very stark. Very! The wall surfaces are hard so you could easily hear every word of every conversation taking place in the restaurant. I was seated at a round table that had four place settings but the extra settings were not removed when I was seated. How long had they been there? There was also a pitcher of water (room temperature) on each table. How long has that been there? All the plates were noticeably chipped. This is the most upscale looking Charminar I've been to but they have a lot to learn about service. My experience at their other locations was far better! At least I enjoyed the food. PS - I never got the dessert.

They have a kid's menu and it has chicken nuggets and fries on it...big win for all those parents with picky eaters. The serving size was just right...I left full but not uncomfortably so. The entrees don't come with rice, so make sure to order some if you want it. It was relatively noisy inside, but not so loud that we couldn't hear each other. No one was being rowdy or anything, just lots of conversations.

Beautiful interior and great food! They have a dine in section and an express take out section. Was…read moreso excited to try out a new Indian restaurant and this definitely hit the spot! They give you a complimentary snack, in a form of potato sticks (not entirely sure what it was). To start: - Samosa 10/10 They were huge! Perfectly fried and stuffed with spiced potatoes and green peas. Came with a green and red chutney. Green chutney was refreshing while the red chutney was sweet and spicy! - Pani Puri Shots 10/10 Great presentation on this, shots of green mint and tamarind water, topped with mini poori with chickpeas and potatoes. Loved the way they served this as a shot, it was packed with flavour and exploded with the refreshing mind and tamarind water in the mouth once you ate it. Mains: - Butter chicken 8/10 Was buttery and smooth in texture and loaded with chicken. It definitely was lacking something in the flavour that I couldn't pin point, but still a great easy option for anyone that doesn't like too much spice. - Garlic naan 10/10 Huge! And can't go wrong with this to pair with your butter chicken. - Goat curry 9/10 Packed with delicious spices and had a huge kick of heat to it, so be aware! It's a young goat dish slowly simmered in a rich Indian gravy/ curry. Highly recommend to eat this with some rice. Can't wait to come back when I'm having that Indian food craving! The newly renovated interior itself is a winner!
