Extremely Disappointed with the New Ownership I took my dog to this vet on 04/28/2025 for a hematoma on her ear that needed to be drained. Under the previous owner, this clinic was run by a caring veterinarian who loved animals and provided affordable, no-nonsense care. The place wasn't fancy, but the vet was honest and never pushed unnecessary tests. Since the new owners took over and remodeled, everything has changed -- and not for the better. They now push expensive procedures right away. I was told my dog needed blood work, and with everything else, the total came to $1,285.75. They also recommended B12 supplements, liver support, and a small bag of special food, adding up to around $160 more. When I asked if there would be any other charges for the follow-up visit to remove her stitches, I was told it was included. But when I had someone take her for me because im at work, they claimed she needed antibiotics and an ear flush -- another $87 added on. I ended up buying the B12 and the liver support supplements on Amazon, and they work just fine. I hope this review helps others. Don't let them take your hard-earned money just because they upgraded the computers and painted the walls. The care should be about the animals, not about profit. read more

Be ware! Worst vet ever, i took my dog to emergency and was diagnosed with joint pain- back spasm ; days later i brought him here because my dog was still shaking, panting and limping. However Dr Cosme benitez said he was fat and all he needed was diet. Without even touching him or checking him ; i said at least check him, he is in pain in his back, he probably needs some tests. He said no , i wont do what you want me to do , i dont need to touch him. He denied to help. We ended up in panda animal clinic and xrays were done, he's receiving laser treatment and medication. I have taken all 3 of my dogs to this vet for almost 20 years. Now, I have a new puppy and of course I brought her here for her shots and wellness exam. They only speak Spanish and are very old school. Records are handwritten, nothing electronic. The same front desk lady has been there for over 10years. In the past, we would be attended by Dr. Cosme Benitez who was awesome and caring. Now he is much older and although he is still at the practice, we have been attended by the younger female vet who is also just as excellent, knowledgeable and caring. Make sure you read this! Apart from the lady veterinarian who's FANTASTIC, there's a new management that has taken over the Benitez Hospital and unfortunately it's all MALPRACTICE. This new Veterinarian states to have 30 years of experience but I don't know where cause I saw nothing but malpractice and violation to a patients HIPPA rights. I stated how I waited for 2 hours to be seen as well how the doctor didn't even touch my dog, all stated he wasn't good taken care of because of his teeth. I went in there for a stomach issue and he decided to go ahead and stated the dog's teeth were in bad conditions and his ears. Mind you he's a dog of 14 years, why would I bother him to brush his teeth? We all know senior dogs don't like to be bothered. The veterinarian asked me to pay 1,200 for a pancreas exam as if he was going to fix it. He never stated for what and I've gone there for multiple times and they've never charged me such ridiculous amount of money for an exam. Afterwards, everything that I was saying after I was already upset at his behavior his assistant went ahead and told the doctor. As I'm at the door carrying my dog the doctor confronts me at the door. His assistant who violated my privacy and afterwards had the doctor unprofessionally come yell and tell me a whole bunch of stuff on my way out was on call for, I'm actually a healthcare employee and there was many red flags today. We've been going to Benitez for years. He was my cat's vet when he was still with us, and he's currently the vet to our golden collie, orange tabby, and jack russell terrier. Benitez is an old school vet, but he's also a really good one. So is the other vet there, she's super nice and knowledgeable! His prices are the most affordable anywhere and he cares about the animals he treats. It makes it doable for a lot of us to actually take care of our animals consistently and not end up spending hundreds in emergency animal hospitals. Like any other vet, I'm sure he makes mistakes or that sometimes things don't work out, but for the most part he's been amazing. He doesn't beat around the bush and he's not the kind of vet that sugarcoats things, so if you don't agree with that then this might not be the place for you. I've seen a lot of reviews complaining about the front desk lady (her name is Conchita), and it always makes me laugh. She's an older lady and no, she isn't smiling at you like she's trying to sell you something. Sometimes she is rude! But she does her job decently and it honestly doesn't bug me that she's not bending over backwards to kiss ass. Benitez took great care of us when my cat passed away and I'll always remember that even though he wasn't incredibly comforting in demeanor (he just isn't like that), he did everything he could for us and he was kind with the way he helped us navigate his passing. My golden collie has a very sensitive stomach and we had a huge scare with her a few years ago after she threw up blood. We took her to an emergency vet since it was near midnight, and $700 later we went home with a misdiagnosis. When we took her to Benitez the Monday after, he reviewed the labs we'd brought and diagnosed her properly. We haven't had an issue with her since after his treatment of her and on her new diet. We rescued our orange tabby as a kitten and they've been amazing with her too. She had a huge allergic reaction to her vaccine shot which was terrifying and I'm so grateful we had this vet to help us through it. A few months later we took her in with a respiratory infection and she turned out to be allergic to penicillin too! Thank god for them and the way they took care of her. I was so nervous when we spayed her but they were so proactive with keeping all of her allergies in mind. Most recently, my boyfriend's dog (the jack russell) ended up there due to a pretty bad episode of diarrhea. He's an old timer and we weren't sure if he had eaten something outside when we weren't looking. Thankfully Benitez treated him incredibly well, and he was given medication and an IV. In the process he found his heart condition had worsened, and after labs and an x-ray, we've begun a treatment for his heart. He is doing a lot better and we're happy to see him more active and comfortable. I can't recommend Benitez Animal Hospital enough. read more

I took my dog there as an emergency situation because his vet was not open & my dog was having trouble breathing, could not walk & looked like he was about to die in my arms. They said they were going to do bloodwork & a chest xray which I said ok although they were charging me $1000. Money was not an object if it meant my dog would be diagnosed & given proper care. After waiting like 4 hours the so-called doctor Hugo from Ecuador sat with us in lobby very non shalon cracking jokes & we were told the dog was fine & had no problems except high cholesterol, his blood sugar a little elevated (mind you he had already been diagnosed by his vet with cardiac problems) & I mentioned it to this so called vet Hugo, by the time we were going to leave the office my bill went up to $1200 with medications (again no problem). When they brought my dog out my dog was same or worse then when we got there, still was having trouble breathing & could not even walk. I advised them I was going to call my credit card & cancel the transaction because they did nothing for my dog & was going to call the police if they didn't. Immediately after saying that they reversed my transaction. I went to an emergency vet & unfortunately my dog had to be put down due to him having his lungs full of fluid due to him being in heart failure. Please don't take your pet to this place, to be a vet you have to love animals, these people obviously don't. read more

Very reasonable. Not a fancy place. But Dr Benitez knows his stuff! My dog was dying. Could not stand, walk, eat, blotted and could not breathe. She was given a shot and some meds. Two days later she was walking and eating. 3 months now and she is perfect. Experience and good old fashion care. I recommend this place 100%. read more

No words. Walked in on a Monday for a routine checkup and mentioned my pup might have a UTI. The nurse massaged her underbelly and right away, she suggested an X-ray. She predicted that she may have bladder stones but without an X-ray she wouldn't know for the condition. After the X-ray, it was determined my pup was in very bad shape. Dr Benitez scheduled her for an immediate surgery appointment Friday that same week. Thank goodness! The entire process was seamless and nurses were very sweet, knowledgeable and informative throughout. I know where I'll be going for future routine maintenance. The business opens whenever it wants. No regard for clientele. Online hours aren't accurate. I sat in the parking lot for 2 hours, I got there at 8:00 and left at 10 am. Multiple people would drive in and then leave because they realized they weren't opening. What kind of business runs like this? This Business is supposed to open at 8:30 as per receptionist AND online time. We had called in advance and the woman on the phone told us we could come at 8:30. We went on wednesday 01/17 in the morning, to euthanize my dog. My chihuahua had a history of kidney disease, progressed gum disease from the prescribed food/medications and if given anything other than her food she would suffer from encephalitis in the brain which would lead to neurological problems such as spinning, pressing, digging continuously, staggard walk and all. She was 13 years old and it was time to let her go. Because of this business I had to miss a full day of work, I had to call a hundred other vets. I had fed her human food that morning as her last meal because she wasn't supposed to be awake long enough to digest it. This business is a joke. Idc how many of you have been going for 20 years, your dogs must be fine. This is NO animal hospital. I however found the BEST care at Lopez Animal Clinic in Hialeah on 16th and 53rd. They were the best vets i've ever gone to and made me feel like family. Please stay the hell away from this ancient veterinarian, "Benitez" who should well be RETIRED and shouldn't make appointments he CANNOT complete as that's negligence. Do better. read more

The worst experience of my life i took my puppy to get checked because he has been feeling really bad he has been shaking and with alot of back pain so i took him here so they could check him out and tell me what was wrong with him. But no i got there the lady at the front dest super rude acts like she doesn't want to be there the way she talks to clients and i waited 20 min before they finally called me to the room one of the nurses came to ask about what was going on with the puppy so i told her everything that the puppy was experiencing so after she went and told the doctor after a while the doctor come in with some paper work in his hand that only showed my puppys weight and he didn't even try to look at my puppy or tuch him or anything to see if he could atleast give me an idea of what could be wrong with him no none of that, he just looked at the paper that he had and told me all it is is that he is overweight and that he was shaking and with his tongue out because he was sweating. This place is run like it's the 1800s. All records hand written. Almost no English. Didn't want to look at my pets past records. No pain meds at all after a major surgery. Vet said he will be fine without meds. Horrible. Cheaper prices but you truly get what you pay for. On top of that the receptionist has the most vile attitude ever. Benitez animal hospital is the best. Dr. Benitez is wonderful with animals and I have been coming here for 22 years. Yes they are not as modern as the most vet clinics but he will figure out what's wrong with your pet without costing you an arm and a leg. Some of these comments gave poor reviews and I don't think they are fair reviews. They are mainly a Spanish speaking vet so communication might be difficult if you only speak English. I wish I could give this place no stars. First the receptionist elder lady is EXTREMELY RUDE and unprofessional. She told me to fill out a post it note with my information, My dog had 6 tumors and needed to be spay by the Dr Benetiz. I brought my dog to get spay and it was handled in two hours, ( they close at 12 pm), they told me to come pick up my dog and when I did they did not give me any paper work, they told me she will be fine, and no medication. Mind you this is my first time having surgery on my dog or any dog at that. I did not have any guidance once I got home, I thought my dog died because of how my dog was acting. I was crying and distraught, I paid Chewy app to speak to a Vet doctor by paying $14.99 and the doctor instructed me what to do to check if my dog was severely sick and thank God I did because it saved me a trip to the hospital. It took me 7 days to make sure that my dog was okay to walk and 19 days to have her eat normal. I had scheduled her tumor the same day I had completed her spay, I was scared to go back. The doctor canceled her tumor surgery three times and that third time was the receptionist calling me on thr 21st of Dec of 2021 to tell me that they want to go to Christmas vacation so they are going to reschedule my dog tumor from the 22nd of December to late JanI thought this was a sign from God. That I am not suppose to bring my dog here again. Listen myloves if you love and care for your dog - find another doctor with a more honest and reputable business. When it's too good to be true in price it's usually because it is and in this case - find another vet doctor. read more

Dr. Benitez has been my family's vet for years, however, since I live in Pembroke Pines, it's kind of a hike to get to Hialeah. Recently though, I've decided to give it a try and go to Dr. Benitez since the vets in Pines are rather pricey. Dr. Benitez provides practical treatments, that WORK! And he didn't charge for a follow-up visit. Where it would cost me $150 at the previous vets I've been to, I only paid $50-75 here. Dr. Benitez is honest, cares about animals, and doesn't try to rip you off. That deserves 10 stars in my book! read more

I don't really like writing reviews but in this case I need to share with everyone how great Dr Benitez and his team are. Just last week my little dog got very sick. I took her to an emergency hospital on Sunday and they told me that she was not going to live unless I left her in their hospital for a week. The total cost was 8,000 dollars. I refused treatment and took her home. The next morning I took her to Dr Benitez and he was able to medicate my dog without being hospitalized and after just 4 days my dog is back to normal. Total spent at Dr Benitez: 200 dollars. Their entire staff are great. They love animals... they are not about money like many other places. I strong recommend this place. read more

Bentley loves Benitez! He's like his grandpa. The staff knows my dog by name. We have been coming to Benitez for years now after a friend recommended him after I paid $400+ on a simple allergic skin reaction at a neighborhood vet. Needless to say, Bentley had the same reaction a couple of months later (I have a bull terrier with VERY, VERY sensitive skin) and $70 later under the care of Benitez, Bentley was perfect again! The prices will never beat this place. Most affordable care is here. Benitez is very traditional and old fashioned. He was a vet in Cuba. Before anything invasive, he might send you home on a home remedy or simple antibiotic, ask you to keep an eye on your animal, and might ask you to come back if no relief is spotted. He's a not after your money, but your pets well being. He truly cares and you can see it in the way he treats all the pets that come in. He genuinely cares about each and every patient (he and his staff remember all of their customers by their name and their pets), has been flexible with me regarding the payment for an expensive procedure that one of my dog's needed, and offers weekend availability that is really helpful. if I could give this one star I would. I've taken two pets to Benitez with the hope of getting an answer to my pets problems. The first time I took my two month old puppy that couldn't walk and they kept saying she was just growing that she was fine they had me buy a rug so she can practice walking on it and medication for the pain she was in. When I'm reality she has a broken spine and they had me walk her for two weeks with a broken spine saying she was fine. Even after this I took a second pet because I had friends and family that said he would help and he would tell me what they had. My dog had a ball in his head and they kept saying it was nothing that he was fine they sent me steroids to give him and said he was fine that he could have hit himself with something a ball sticking out of his head. Today I'm putting my dog to sleep after a month of being told by this place he was okay when If I would've caught it on time. We could've operated it and my dog would still be healthy and alive today and I could've saved my first dog the pain if they would've ran exams or sent me to the right place. Please be honest to your customers and let them choose weather they want to save money or save their pets. This is our choice, if not we wouldn't take them to the vet. read more
