My two young children have been seeing Dr. Valdez since they were born. So, 9 years now. After COVID the customer services started going downhill. It got so bad we started to take our kids to urgent care because they became less flexible with tests the kids needed to return to school (covid, rsv, etc.). Regardless of if the schools continued to require these tests for return, parents want to know what their children have not an assumption! They rarely ever ordered labs if you needed them, it was always a fight. Same, if you needed a referral such as ears, throat and nose. My daughter had ear infections every month and they did not take the extra care to find out what the issue was without us pushing HARD. They seemed more concerned about follow-up visits and annual check-ups per their policy which makes you feel uncared for personally and that they only care about collecting the co-payment. No advice or prescriptions would ever be allowed over the phone like Kaiser. During Sept 2025 my husband unfortunately decided to take his own life. I know TMI. So, rightfully so, we missed my oldest son's annual check-up around the same time. I called in January to get it re-scheduled and let them know we had an insurance changed. Lisa informed me both of my children are no longer patients (my daughters annual appt had not even came up yet and she stated it had be both of them so since 1 did not show up they cancelled both as patients). I shared with her privately what happened. She said she was sorry for our loss and would get back to me if we can re-establish the kids being patients because of the situation. 3 1/2 weeks later no call back. I called back and Lisa picked up. I told her who I was and let her know I never heard back. She said I do not think we can re-establish them as patients and you will need to find care somewhere else. I replied "Well, thanks for the call back" (not). The customer service is horrible and the other ladies in the front office are very rude and do not take the time to explain anything if you have any questions. It is the point where I dealt with this for years and was looking for an easy answer for my kids needs as I get through this loss but apparently that could not happen. HOW SAD AND COLD-HEARTED. My review is on the office staff, not Dr. Valdez. We have been a patient of his for almost 9 years, and our interactions and care from him have always been good. I am incredibly disappointed by his staff in the past two months. I have spent 6+ weeks trying to get a referral to a specialist for my child, and whomever does the referrals has repeatedly referred my child to the wrong type of doctor, one of which only sees ADULTS, and both of which do not provide the specific service we need. When I call in to the office and ask to speak with this person, I am always told I will get a call back and never do. This level of service is unacceptable. My child continues to go without the help we need because of the lack of care by this individual. read more

My first child has all his vaccines except varicella vax BECAUSE he had a case of chickenpox already. Valdez even diagnosed it so it was charted and he physically saw my child that day and told me he would not need the varicella vax. We hadnt seen him inawhile because he hasnt had a need for a visit and they wont take him as a patient because were not up to date. They wouldn't even run titers, or agree that he has immunity from having the pox yet alone speak with us, or look up what Valdez charted beforehand, to bad my second child has been in the same class at St Albans with yours for the past few years and he has no vaccines. read more

Please read if you are entertaining Professional Pediatrics for your kids. Dr. Valdez is a great Dr. Unfortunately, his staff is terrible. They are unorganized and incompetent. The office manager, Debbie, is unprofessional and unable to take accountability for the mishandlings of the staff. Lisa, has become increasingly bitter and rude over the years. I wish that Dr. Valdez knew how terrible his administration is and what a detriment they are to his practice. If he cleaned house, my family would go back to him. My daughters were with Dr Valdez when they were infants, tried getting them back into the practice after 10 years with Kaiser. They initially agreed and had me fill out an enormous amount of paperwork and get all vaccination records. They denied my request saying they billed me $70 in 2015 (from services rendered in 2012). They said it was sent to collections. I called collections, they have no record of me in their system. I certainly never received a bill. Debbie and Lisa in the office are two of the most unimpressive humans I have had to work with in my life. Zero interest in problem solving and working with people. It's been unfortunate and nobody should have to deal with this disfunction while trying to simply get treatment for their kids. read more

Love the medical staff... however, customer service leaves a lot to be desired. They dropped us as a patient because we were on a delayed vaccination schedule. Something that was discussed with the doctor and the PA. They seemed fine with it. But apparently not. Now trying to get a straight answer is next to impossible. First we were told that it was a final decision. We asked for more info and yet no one would/could tell us anything. Then we were told there was probably more to it than just the delayed vaccination schedule but still no one could/would say. I'm more than a little disappointed since we liked the medical staff but the answers (or lack thereof) are pathetic. read more

We have been with Dr Valdez for 6 years now and couldn't imagine another doctor for my children. In fact, he is the reason we keep our insurance. When I was a new mom, Valdez and his staff were always there and available for advice. I called for things such as when my toddler swallowed a dime or when I was having second thoughts on getting my three year olds tonsils removed. Valdez would call me back and spend a good amount of time talking to me about whatever my concerns were. Valdez and his staff have always been super respectful about my parenting style and have never pushed anything on us. I've always had a good experience w Dr Valdez and his staff. I recently got my daughters ears pierced there. He's very anal and thorough which i loved. Prefer him do it than a teenager in the mall. My children were patients here for several months when we had a change in insurance a couple years ago. Earlier this year, we had an instance change again and our current pediatrician at Sutter Pediatrics was not accepting our new plan. I searched for a new pediatrician and found that Dr. Valdez accepted our new plan. I called the office, told them that we were returning patients and wanted to be scheduled for well visits. The receptionist asked if my children were vaccinated, I told her that they were but my almost 5 year old son was still needed 2 more vaccines before school starts this fall. She told me that they would not see us and that "we were not a good fit" for them. I explained that I'm not avoiding vaccines and that we can do those last two next month at his 5 year well check, but she refused. I understand that if I was completely not vaccinating they could refuse to see me, but for this? Plus, it's a good insurance plan and I know for a fact that he has patients that do not vaccinate at all. read more

He is a great doctor but I can say less about the others. It was to the point that I would specifically ask for him and I was granted that access but recently was told that they have to rotate their doctors and as a new mother I was only comfortable with him so they decided to terminate care even though I still had one last appointment with him. The bad part is they won't even inform you of a termination. The office staff is horrible they will sit and argue with you even though you are the customer and trying to take care of your kids. Anything you say is wrong or they will try to take what you say out of context to terminate your care. I would suggest to go to a different office. read more

Dr. Valdez was the best pediatrician (and more) that we could hope for! We felt very safe and secure from the moment we met him. He took the time to answer any questions we had and I love that he didn't pressure us into giving all the vaccines right away. He has a warm, kind, caring way about him and my husband and I couldn't have been happier that the pressure of finding a good Dr. for our son was over! I've never really been impressed with the front desk staff to begin with and our frustration grew and grew over time. I carried our insurance at the time, but after a few months after our son was born, both my husband and I made job switches, where we would have a lapse in coverage. I wanted to keep up with his wellness checkups and said I'd be willing to pay out of pocket. They told me this was not an option and we could not longer be patients with them. I pushed back a little and said I'd be willing to pay the cost, in full, at the time of the appointment, but they said no. Fast forward to when our insurance kicked back in (the exact same coverage we had when he was a newborn), I called to make an appointment. The woman at the front desk pulled up my son's information and asked if he was up to date on his vaccines. I said no, we were waiting until our insurance was going to kick back in to get him any kind of shot (they're expensive!). We did get him a few before we went on a vacation, but he was not completely up to date. She said she would not be able to accept us back because of this. I asked if they would give him the vaccines he needed, in order to continue being patients and she said no. Puzzled, (I've never heard of a Dr. unwilling to give vaccines?) I pushed back a little and she asked me to e-mail her a copy of his updated shot record to see how many he missed. I e-mailed her and this is a copy and paste of the response I got: "SO SORRY, UNFORTUNATELY WE CAN NOT TAKE HIM BACK DUE TO THE FACT HE IS VERY BEHIND ON HIS VACCINES." I felt the all caps, no greeting and no signature was very cold and rude. I'm still puzzled as to why they are unwilling to give him the vaccines, especially when I know they don't pressure parents to give them at the recommended times. So, doesn't this mean that a handful of their patients are "very behind" on their vaccines? I don't get it and feel very sad leaving this way, as we truly loved Dr. Valdez. UPDATE: I just had my second child & was eager to have a fresh start with them. Dr Valdez came to the hospital after I delivered to check out our newborn & we still loved him. The follow-up appointment a few days later left me in tears. We walked into the office & was not even greeted with a simple hello. The receptionist immediately asked about my older son & if we wanted to bring him back too. I was puzzled, because this appointment had nothing to do with my older son, we there for my newborn. We said we weren't sure. She asked if we had his vaccine record. We were like, no? Didn't know we were supposed to bring my other sons vaccine record to my newborns appointment. This placed is just obsessed with vaccines. I'm not even against them, we would just like to do them in our own timeline. Anyway, we told her we're not here for that, can we please just check in? She didn't even say anything. The nurse eventually called us back & she was pretty snobby, which was weird, because she was so friendly when we saw her a few years ago. After she left the room I started crying. Was it cause I was only a few days post-partum? Maybe. But you would think a pediatric staff would know how to handle moms who had just given birth. Some Dr I had never met came in. I had made an appointment with Dr Valdez, the only reason we came to that crummy place. We asked where he was & she said in his office, but he was busy. Wow, ok. She went off on how our baby was way under weight & had some vitamin deficiency (both were not true according to our WONDERFUL current pediatrician). We have been going to Dr. Valdez for over 5 years. I have yet to have a bad experience. The office staff are always kind and courteous. I have called after hours several times, and Dr. Valdez was always attentive, provided guidance and reassurance. He has even offered to see the kids on the weekend when needed. Our 3 children have been under their care for over 3 years now. They've always been friendly and informative. Their nurse is the sweetest person and makes the kids feel so comfortable and she's very quick and gentle with vaccines. We've seen Dr. Valdez, Dr. Aby and a NP for our well checks, sicknesses and head bumps and the appointments are always on time, quick and helpful. I'm confused by all the bad ratings on here but maybe it's a case of humans being more likely to take the time to leave a negative review than a positive one. Dr. Valdez was recommended to me by a friend 14 years (and three different locations) ago, when we were expecting our first child. Many children later, Dr. Valdez and his staff have always served us with kindness and professionalism. I've referred several friends to them and they've always been delighted with the care, as well. The doctors are friendly and knowledgeable, expertly caring for children and educating parents. The staff is the best, always going above and beyond to provide cheerful, excellent service. It would seem to me, based on reviews, that this place has been attacked by a vicious campaign. My children have only been patients here since fall 2019 but we have not experienced any of the negative issues highlighted by other reviewers. To us, the staff and the doctors and NPs we have seen have never been rude or dismissive. Any and all issues and concerns have been appropriately handled and addressed. Great medical staff, but I'm giving this office 1 Star because of the biller Debbie, as stated in other reviews she is rude and unprofessional. I was actually told by her" Let's hope your son doesn't get sick" in reference to the bills I had with their office that I was calling in to give an updated credit card so they could collect their payment. Keep in mind my son was a newborn at the time and she was threatening his care in attempt to leverage a payment out of us that we weren't past due on. She also felt the need to say she was nervous that we were moving to another pediatrician and they might not get paid. The implication alone is infuriating. Before running to yelp I wrote a letter to Dr. Valdez and the Office Manager(who unfortunately ended up being her)to bring to their attention how horrible my experience with Debbie was, leveraging my son's care to get a payment out of me that I was calling her to make, I even mentioned to my husband she acts like we aren't trying to pay her and it's her money she's collecting. I know if I even spoke to a customer at my job the way she spoke to me I'd be fired. After reading more negative reviews on Debbie I found that that's Dr. Valdez's wife(things started making more sense) so obviously no one from Professional Pediatrics responded to my letter to apologize or try to discuss this matter with me. So all I can do is warn parents as other reviewers have. AVOID DEBBIE. She should be ashamed of herself for threatening the care of a newborn. I have a zero balance with this office and I understand they need to collect their payment to keep their doors open. But just because you're married to the Doctor that runs the practice doesn't make it okay for you to talk to people the way you do. read more

Spoke to the doctor while at the hospital after the birth of my son. He told me in person that he would see us on Saturday and to call his office the following day to make the appointment. His office staff was rude and when I called told me if I did not come in today to not bother coming in and to see a different doctor. I asked to talk to the doctor since I had the conversation with him directly and was laughed at. Completely unprofessional. This office requires you to send tons of private information BEFORE they will tell you if they are even accepting new patients. One of the things they ask for is a copy of the insurance card, they are basing weather or not they will take your child as a new patient on what your insurance is going to pay them. Their top priority is money and NOT the health of your child. A good physician will put the patient first period. read more

For the last 15 years I would have given them 4 or 5 stars. Everyone has always been great and our kids loved going there until I got a call today...I get a phone call from their billing department that our insurance wasn't being accepted at their office anymore. She proceeds to tell me that they have told me this over and over again and I had no idea what she's even talking about! We have had this Insurance 3 months. I asked the girl Angela if I would be able to give her a call back and give her a different card number because it was going to take me some time to get another card (since I just had surgery) and she's super rude going into a whole explanation about how we're not going to be getting a discount any longer if we don't pay now and we're going to send you to collections if you don't pay etc. All I was asking was to give her a call back in the next few minutes because the amount that we were paying was coming from a car accident and I know it needed to be handled in a different way. I've never had anybody there all these years so rude as she was today which is enough to find a new Pediatrician. The other person Debbie who I talked to wasn't much better. Dr valdez is an amazing doctor. His Biller (wife Debbie) not so much at all. My kids have been patients with this office for 24 years my son has been hospitalized 7 times so I have had hundreds of dollars paid to my kids doctor I missed a $67 bill because I moved and the staff did not update my address when I last went in so I never received the bill. I received one call and a few days later was sent to collections yes sent to collections over $67 I am sure he was not even aware she sent me to collections. I called wanting to get my bill paid thru the collection agency but am told he will not longer see my son who he knows exactly how his asthma is and has been the one to hospitalize him 6 of thr 7 times. Guess 24 years relationship with the doctor isn't important to the biller it's the money that would of been paid. Pretty sure when I called he was never asked if he would continue to see my son if I called the collection agency and paid the bill this morning. read more

We have been seeing Dr. Valdez and his staff for a year now, and we are extremely happy! Our son was born unexpectedly 4 weeks early, and we didn't have a pediatrician picked out yet. A nurse in the NICU recommended Dr. Valdez and we are so pleased that she did! I have only had pleasant experiences with the front office staff/billing, the office is clean, and Dr. Valdez (or the Physician Assistants) always take their time and answer any questions I have. They are also really accommodating when we have needed our son to be seen right away due to a cold, or if we had a schedule conflict and needed to change an existing appointment. The one time that we needed to call them after hours, the on-call doctor called me back within 5 minutes! I would recommend this office in a heartbeat! read more

I have A LOT I can say about this Doctor, so I will first start with the positives. I see that some reviews state that the office staff is horrible. I have only experienced kindness and professionalism from those ladies. They have always returned my calls and have never ever been rude to me over the phone or in person. I was very pleased with my experience with the front office staff. The NP's ladies here are also amazing. Very kind, genuine and listen to your concerns. Now as for Valdez himself, I personally and unfortunately did not have a great experience with him. I have a stepson who is 6 years old and another son that is 8 months old, who has been seeing him since he was a few weeks old. I will explain in greater detail the issues I had experienced with both of my children and Valdez. 6 year old Step Son: My stepson has/was been dealing with some issues. His behaviors are very similar to an ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) child. His daycare providers in the past have always said how bright he is, but socially he is behind. He has had some behavior issues but nothing that has us concerned until he started Kindergarten and things just changed drastically. We took him to Valdez because we were concerned he might have a form of high functioning Asperger's. As soon as Valdez walked into the patient room we were sitting in, he was QUICK to judge and say he doesn't have Asperger's he has ADD or ADHD and told us they have Meds for that. Literally diagnosed him with this within 2 min of seeing us and throwing the option of meds in our face. We tried to explain him the differences of ADHD/ADD vs ASD and why we believe its ASD. We explained that we have read books and looked into ASD, and come to find out he has identical characteristics as an ASD child since he was a baby and we just didn't know anything about it. He said here is a quiz I want you guys to take, email it back. The quiz did not explain what it was or what it would "calculate" so I googled it and he didn't even provide all the pages to us, he left out the pages that explain the totals and what they mean. This was an ADD/ADHD quiz.. he of course scored high for ADD/ADHD. A child is commonly misdiagnosed with ADD/ADHD when really they has ASD. WE KNOW OUR CHILD. WE ARE THE PARENTS. HE CAN FOCUS IF IT INTEREST HIM. HE LOVES VERY FEW THINGS; LEGOS AND COMPUTER TIME. HE CAN WATCH A MOVIE, SAME ONE OVER AND OVER BUT HE CAN WATCH THE WHOLE THING WITH OUT BOUNCING OFF THE WALLS. We demanded a referral to a neurologist, come to find out he does have Asperger's and NOT ADD/ADHD like Valdez was QUICK TO JUDGE AND SURE HE HAD. My Son: My son is 8 months old currently, and has been going to this office since he was a newborn. My son was in the NICU for breathing issues. He has horrible wheezing, which I have brought to his attention MANY times. He never seemed worried, so I wasn't either. Well his wheezing began to get worse and during one of his naps I noticed he was taking faint tiny breaths, I turned him over and he was blue in the face. When I picked him up he gasped for air, so I called the doctors office and explained what happened and when I went in to see Valdez he brushed it off like I was crazy. Well my sister watches my son while I am at work, and my sister has asthma and goes to an allergist on a regular basis to do breathing treatments. My sister took my son to one of her appointments and the nurse there heard his wheezing and explained that she believes he has asthma too and to get him in asap for a check-up. I notified Valdez of this and they told me they would not give me a referral since they do not believe he has a breathing issue. I said okay but another professional had witnessed this wheezing a believes it could be asthma. His office told me on the phone that if I would like to get this checked out then I would have to refer myself and if I do that then my insurance will not cover it. I asked why was it so hard to get a referral, what if he does have asthma? Well because I CARE ABOUT MY SON and THEY CLEARLY DO NOT.. I went and made an appointment, paid out of pocket and come to find out he does have asthma. I called their office and explained how they were wrong about the diagnoses of both of children. And thankfully I followed my mommy intuition!! Well since I called them out they have sent me a letter stating that they are dropping my children as a patients from there office. What a coward! Dr Valdez was the pediatrician for our kids for several years. At first we found his very relaxed demeanor curious but not alarming. During office visits he spent very little time with the kids and seemed to do the bare minimum unless we insisted otherwise. We started to visit the office less frequently because we felt we got more thorough attention at the Med Clinic, imagine that! Recently my wife called for an appointment and we were told that we were dropped as patients without even being contacted. I can't believe this Dr can operate as a pediatrician in Rocklin. No wonder his old partner Dr Cafarella and most of the staff parted ways. I wish we would have earlier as well. read more
