My Husband and I had bought a new home (first and last new home I will ever own), and we were SO excited to have some renovations done to make it a little more inviting for us. We hired Payzant's Home Hardware in Lower Sackville to put in cupboards in our kitchen including a lazy susan garbage area and a dishwasher. We also had them rip out carpeting and install laminate flooring throughout the top floor of our home and install a hot water tank. There were so very many issues, it would be an extremely long read for anyone, so I will sum it up in bullet point. - I scheduled the movers for several days after the flooring was supposed to be completed. The day before the movers were due to arrive, the work was still not completed, and they did not even come to work that day. On the morning of the move, I called to ensure the workers had masks on as we were going to be there (I am immune compromised). I was assured they would have masks, but when we arrived, there was only one person working, with no mask, and he ended up being underfoot when the movers where trying to bring stuff into the house. - When they removed the carpet upstairs there was a very sticky substance all over the floors. The installation crew did not bother to try and protect the other floors in our home. They walked all through the main level of our home and the carpeted stairs. They did have a steam cleaning company in to clean the stairs, but we are still trying to get the stuff off the laminate flooring. - We were not asked to pick out a dishwasher, so we asked what dishwasher we were getting in advance and were told a Frigidaire. We like that brand so we never said anything further about it. When the installation was complete, imagine our surprise to discover it was a GE they installed. They came back and switched to a better model. - When installing the new flooring they discovered a hole in the floor where the railing was and told us the railing had to go and they could not use it again. We paid close to $2000.00 for a new section of railing. When they installed it, they drilled holes in the wrong spots for each spindle and neglected to nail in some of the pieces of wood in the top rail (and used the wrong nails when they did). They came back and nailed in the pieces of wood on the top. - They drilled two holes in the wrong spot in our new cupboards for our lazy susan. So right out in front there are two obvious holes. They did try to fill them and hide them, but you can still see it. - On our very first visit we were told we would need handles for the door cupboards, but the person we worked with was in a hurry so it was going to have to wait for another day. That day never came, and we were not asked again. When they installed the cupboards, they came and asked us where the handles were, and we didn't have any. They had to come back and do that too. Which was okay because one of the people installing took home a piece of our cupboard in his pocket, so they had to come back anyway. I could go on, there was more. The customer service was very much lacking. We were made to feel as though they were doing us a favour. We had to have people in our home so many times when it should not have been necessary. In the end, we have expensive new railing with holes in between every spindle, we have holes in our new cupboards, and some sort of a substance all over our floors. After weeks of trying to get things settled with the general manager, he offered us $250.00 off of the total invoice, which was over $20,000.00. I told him he was missing a zero, and he could either provide proper compensation for the damaged items in our home; or, come install new railing and a new cupboard. He responded by telling me if we didn't pay in 15 days, they would put a lien on our new home. I went to the BBB and they tried to get a response but had no luck. We paid, but I would never EVER recommend anyone use their services!

Paul Susnis came to NS to open a different kind of paint store and he did succeed. Paul Susnis Decorating Centre's is the real name. They will assist you in just about any question you throw at them. Believe it or not, you can not just go and buy a bucket of paint and throw it on the walls. I am sure a lot of us believe that, but it is not true. So, before you make that mistake, go see them here , they will guide you in the right direction of what type of paint, how to paint, what to buy for tools, how to make your job easier, low gloss, medium sheer, no sheer, oil based, baby proof, primer, etc, the list is endless with paint , who knew! I am a little more knowledgeable know, having painted my home.

I can't believe how rude and inconsiderate the people at this store are. During a weekday at…read moremidday, they painted their back room with a paint that had a STRONG odor. I don't mean it just stinks, but the fumes were actually dangerous. It fumed out the stores 2-3 down on either side of their business. Some places even had to close it was so bad. A few people had to go home with migraines and nose bleeds. No warning was given to any of the businesses in the area. When they were asked to stop painting because it was making people ill they were very rude about it. What I don't get is this: You're a paint store, why did you think this was a good idea? Did you simply not know the paint caused such bad fumes? Not a place I'd trust to sell me paint, that's for sure.

Colour Your World is one of the few stores in Halifax that specifically and exclusively specializes…read morein paint. So today, I went to Colour Your World to purchase a can of paint. My mission was quite simple. I was to get 1 quart of Watercolor Blue paint (shade 72/063) for the exterior of my house. This quickly turned into a disaster. When the staff member asked me if I needed oil or latex paint, and I asked her what she meant - she looked at me as though I was retarded. When I asked her to explain, she couldn't really explain the difference. Even when I explained to her that it was to paint a metal pipe running up the outside of my house, which had previously been painted before we lived there, she was still unable to provide any assistance. I questioned how I was suppose to know this, when she was the paint expert and she had been given all of the same facts that I did. On my way home I stopped at a second paint store. I again explained my situation. This time the staff were quick to suggest that I buy the latex paint. Needless to say, I was very disappointed with the lack of professional and friendly service at Colour Your World and I will be hesitant to shop there again.

It's got your standard mid-range paint products (Dulux and Glidden), wallpaper (in case you lost your mind) and any kind of tool that you may need for decorating your project. However, as someone who knows nothing about paint, or needs a lot of it for your project (say, to cover up the colour pink from every wall, ceiling, door and trim), you may not get quite the help you need. While the staff was mostly friendly and helpful, there were some very key points that, as non-contractor new home-owners, should have been covered with us but weren't. While we picked a few colours off the chip walls, because their online colour catalogue apparently doesn't match what they have in-store, we expected that we'd get the colours that we asked for. Boy, were we in for a surprise when our painter called us back to tell us that half the paint we had purchased was a clear-coat glaze that required separate background coat paint. Separate paint that we had not bought, nor had we budgeted for. Without this special, separate paint, the paint that was provided to us would take seven to eight (!!!) coats to get to the right shade we picked. Clearly, we were frustrated and disappointed that we were never told of this. At least the other half of the paint we bought was fine. Maybe if you get the right employee or ask the right questions, you'll get quality service, but unfortunately it shouldn't be like a Russian roulette game. If we ever decide to paint again, we'll likely spend a few dollars more per gallon and go someplace like the Benjamin Moore store.

You will pay a few dollars more for the can of paint, but rest assured you will put a lot less effort into your painting job. Because you`re using a higher grade paint, you`re less likely to have to paint extra coats to get your perfect result. The average can of paint is around $40 - $50. The staff are so helpful. I`ve gone in there not having a clue what color to choose for a room and with their help, I walk out with my entire house colors flowing together. I am a big Benjamin Moore fan!

Generally a wide range of gift ideas. Most products in the shop have been created by the owners themselves so that's pretty neat. The smell of the soaps and candles places you in a relaxed mood to browse the shabby sheik store. I love this style of furniture old style with a modern twist to it. Bird houses seem to be a big thing in this store but these bird house are more of a decor thing. Various colours that you would use and an accent piece apposed to hanging in a tree. Bath salts and lotions fill the shelves with straw baskets in a way that you need to touch. I would love to design my house with everything in this place. Now prices are a bit higher then an average wear house stocked with but the character of each piece is filled with conversation and years of falling in love with your piece over and over. Beautiful hardwood floors with great wear can tell you that this store has had many visitors walking through and this is a place that I will visit again.

They do their work with no fuss and leave my carpets in great condition. There was a big price jump this year, but I went with them anyway: I'm just not willing to risk using another supplier when I know Deep Down is always no drama and excellent service. I had this company clean all my carpets and rugs. They damaged one of rugs (I think they used too…read moremuch heat) and one of my rugs was shrunk/puckered all over. They came back go pick the rug up a week later telling me they would keep the rug and reimburse me for it, but when someone finally called me back a few days later, they said they decided to fix the rug instead. They called me over a week later, to tell me they had fixed it back to brand new condition, but when they brought the rug back, it was still puckered and damaged. I told them i wasn't happy with the rug, so they took it away again. That was 2 and a half weeks ago and no one has even called me with an update. Really feels like I'm getting the run around.
