In our search for a new go-to Thai Restaurant, we found this place and visited during a weekday lunch hour. Despite being one of only 2-3 parties (max) in the restaurant at that time, well weren't attended to quickly or frequently. We ordered two pretty typical lunch combination plates: Pad Thai & Yellow Curry. The portions of the main entrees were smaller than expected but the plates appeared generous due to a greater helping of rice. To give an example of the perceived quality of the food, the yellow curry had a so-so taste since it was a little too watery. Our final bill was also a little bit more than we had paid for similar entrees at other Thai Restaurants. So, there wasn't any promising takeaway from dining here. read more

I live in a fairly large city and have not been able to find an excellent Thai restaurant in my local area. Today I ended up in the city of Monroe. I would never guess that Monroe would have a great Thai Restaurant. Benjarong Thai Restaurant has fabulous food and service. They out ranked for delicious Red Curry. Affordable. I would have given them 5 stars but unfortunately their tables felt sticky. Pretty much due to the type of wood the tables are made of. I'm not a big fan of sticky tables but I was committed in trying their Thai food. Soooo yummy. read more

One of the first things we did when moving to Monroe was scout out our future Thai restaurant and we have not been disappointed with our orders from Benjarong. We have only stopped in to pick up takeout but the inside of the restaurant is really beautiful with warm paint colors and tasteful decor. Both times we've arrived, our order has always been all packaged up and waiting for us. They are super friendly and very helpful when ordering. They even understand gluten allergies and I was thrilled to find out I can have the spring rolls which are fabulous. The husband usually orders the yellow curry with chicken and gorges himself on the crab delight I only wish I could have. I get the panang with shrimp and don't let a drop of the curry go to waste. One order always has enough for a couple meals and we are sure to fully enjoy our leftovers. We look forward to dining in some time in the near future so we can try more of the variety of the menu and enjoy the nice ambiance. This is a solid thai place in Monroe and we're pretty happy to have it only a call away whenever the curry hunger hits. read more

We had dinner here after skiing. The restaurant was very busy and our group had to be split into two tables. We were fine with it. There were lots of choices on the menu. We were an adventurous group so we tried a few Benjarong specials, including their curry and their soup. We also ordered pad see eew for our table. The soup was disappointing. It was just broth with vermicelli noodles, veggies and fish balls. Very bland in my opinion. The curry flavor was good. And the pad see ew was a bit too sweet for my liking. So great to see a good Thai place in Monroe. This is not a tiny hole in the wall place either. It's nicely decorated, relatively large, clean, comfortable, and appealing. And the food is... ...above average Thai fare. They do a good job on every dish I've tried so far. Well executed with good ingredients. The results are tasty, appealing, and worth returning for. The only issue we've see is they sometimes overcook some of the food--especially fried items. But that's a minor complaint, and one they are happy to fix if you just ask. Service is friendly and helpful. We've had three or four different waiters (several visits), and all have been good. Benjarong has won our business, and we will continue to be patrons here. Delicious food and excellent service. I tried something new and got the Golden Noodle with chicken. It was a lovely curry with wide soft noodles with veggies. I sadly got full and could not finish its deliciousness. All my boys got Phad Thai (they are not adventurous) and everyone loved it. This is definitely one of our favorite Thai restaurants. The waitresses was so sweet and made a hack fir my 9 year old so he could use chop sticks. He was so appreciative of it that he at his entire meal without reaching for a fork once. Finishing the meal with a little scoop of ice cream. Our water was constantly being refilled and I loved the joint effort to make sure our experience was amazing. Chicken pad Thai outstanding. Chicken not over cooked at all. Cucumber salad good, I wish it was served cold and had less sugary liquid in it and more cucumbers to balance all the onions better. We ordered take out. It was super fast! We ordered the Benjarong orange chicken, chicken phad thai, the crab delights, wonton soup and the Thai BBQ chicken! The Benjarong chicken was delightfully refreshing, flavorful and delicious! The orange flavor really pops and it just was a great alternative to sweet and sour! The phad Thai was delicious- rich in flavor and a huge portion! The crab delights- were goor not the best I've ever had not the worst but definitely in the worth ordering category! Wonton soup! There was so much in this soup! And the wontons were so stuffed full of goodness! It was delicious! Thai BBQ chicken - this was the only dish that we had some issue with- it was delicious but very chewy chicken. My partner would order it again but for me it was just too dry. Super taster here: Food: pad thai and pinapple fried rice is my favorite here. You can taste the fire/grill from the food. Curry is a hit or miss. Food taste much better dine-in g vs take-out. I was coming from Washington fair so thought to have food their while coming back. Then we decided to pick up so I called restaurant . After placing order I said it will take 30 mins to reach ( so will reach by 9:15 pm ) and person who was taking order said no we will be closing at 9:30. Favorite Thai place outside of Thailand! The food is delicious and good portion sizes. My go-to meals are the Golden Cashew and Chicken Pad Thai. The tea iced tea is delicious and about 20oz - a great size compared to other Thai places. When inside dining was open a complimentary mango or coconut spoonful of ice-cream was given at the end of the meal. This is our go-to restaurant for family dinners and birdbath celebrations. Ick. This might have been a good place at one time. The walls were pretty, and well painted. The decor was at one time nice. But I'm not sure why but the owners are trashing up the dining room with all their paper goods. Do you feel like you are eating in a storage closet. The food was not good. This place is PACKED on the weekends! But it is worth it. Despite Benjarong being slammed, the service is GREAT! We never have to wait a crazy amount of time for our food. We usually order pick up and I have not had to wait past my pick up time. Their chicken phad thai is my favorite and you get a good amount of chicken unlike some other Thai restaurants. Very very nice service! But the Tom kha was flavorless except for some cilantro and chili. It's supposed to be a coconut and lemongrass soup and I could taste neither and it was very very watery. So I asked the server and she had the chef make it the way she and I like it, nice, thick and flavorful!!!. That lunch was just delicious. I understand the high rating for Benjarong. We just enjoyed the lunch menu specials which was spicy beef with phad Thai for hubby and the Benjarong special curry for me. Medium spicy and hubbys was 3 stars (hot). The spice level was in point, which varies so much from place to place so I really appreciate that. The food was so flavorful and portions were generous. I am absolutely stuffed and I didn't even finish my rice. You get a little cup of soup before your meal and the cutest little ball of mango ice cream on a soup spoon as dessert. It was both adorable and palate cleansing. I got a Thai iced tea as well and the total of our bill was only $23. I'd say that's a great deal for a tasty and satisfying lunch. Suffice to say I tipped well. One tiny gripe- I wish the curry was a little thicker and had more than one single chunk of potato. That's all~ Oh! Forgot to say that all staff were so smiley and sweet. Inviting would be the best way to describe this restaurant. It's a win. read more

I can only evaluate the food as we received our order through DoorDash and cannot coment on service or ambiance. The Beef in the Pad Thai was too thick and VERY chewy. Flavor was ok -- not bad, but not amazing. The Cashew Nut Chicken had good flavor but had the same issue with the protein -- the chicken was cut too thick and it was also dry and chewy. The sauces on both dishes were very runny and did not stick to the other ingredients in the dishes. The Benjarong Fried Rice had the same issue with the protien with the Beef being chewy and cut too thick. The flavor was fine -- but not my favorite. We have gone to this restaurant for years We went there with visiting family from Illinois who really love Thai food. What they got did not seem to please them. We did not get the flavors that we are used to from Benjarong . The Phad Thai was bland ,very low on added meat with nearly nonexistent sauce. Nowhere near as full of the rich blend of flavors that we were used to. I got Chicken Showering Rama. I asked for no heat because in the past that had a little heat buzz that was perfect for me. Now it literally is zero heat almost like having thinned sweet peanut butter, Our family got some chicken fried rice that looked bland and low in chicken. It looked really chopped up and low in texture too. This place we have gone to on special occasions for years... is one that we will not be returning to again. read more

Me and my friends came here after a day of skiing at Steven's. We were freezing and looking forward to a delicious, warm meal - and let me tell you - we were extremely satiated here. We were seated immediately, and within 5-10 minutes of ordering (this is not an exaggeration), we received our 5 dishes - all different, all delicious. We also ordered a tea which was incredible and equally warming. Overall, service was immaculate and the food was perfect. Soothing Thai music played in the background. I hope I'm setting the scene here! Only minor con was that the heater wasn't blasting, but we were fine since we had our skiing layers on :) 10/10; would recommend! We ordered fish cakes, ribs, thai ice tea and Rad Nah with beef. The Thai ice was ok but the rest was varying degrees of bad. The ribs were mainly tough and dry, although the sauce was nice. The rad nah was very very soupy, and had hardly any vegetables, and didn't taste particularly. We thought about complaining but didn't think the server would take kindly to it. It was obvious that the fish cakes were made from a packet or from frozen. They had a metallic taste and dry texture. The service was also curt and unhelpful. The only reason it's 2 stars is because it's Monroe and it's unfair to expect anything better. read more

Ok I have my favorite Thai place at home so I'm skeptical of most others. Service was good however they close at 9:30 and we got here at 9. We were greeted by make sure to hurry up and order because the kitchen is closing. We felt rushed the whole meal, if you are in a hurry to close then set your hours to 9 or 8:30 knowing that people may come in at the last minute. Food was good for dinner I had the garlic beef which was very good. My girlfriend had red curry which she said was decent not the best. Came back for lunch another day I had the same but my girlfriend had some other chicken dish. Menu made it seem like it was stir fry but it was pretty unappetizing. Very bland boiled looking chicken with a goop of sauce on top. I will give them credit as they did replace it with something else when my girlfriend mentioned it. I came here with a friend for dinner and we shared the golden noodle with tofu and a pad kee mao with chicken. Both dishes had great, bold flavors but the noodles were overcooked. The chicken was dry as well, not a fan. There was a good balance of noodles versus vegetables, and the portions were pretty good. I've eaten at this restaurant many times over the years but I haven't been in for several years. I'm not sure what's happened to them but this was a really bad experience. They might be going through a remodel? We walked in and were seated right away, so off to a good start. Several of the tables had various items stacked on them, take out boxes, card board boxes, etc. We were given water bottles instead glasses of water and we were provided paper plates to eat on. Do they not have a dishwasher anymore? We also noticed painting over spray on the floor and patching on several walls. It's possible they are remodeling or trying to use up their paper goods. I'm not sure. The menu also had prices that had been crossed out with a sharpie & new prices written in. Most items had at least a $2 price increase. Covids been hard, I get it, but your serving me on paper plates & water bottles? Fresh rolls with prawns - veggies & sauce were yummy but each roll was made with one prawn that had been cut in half to make it look like more. So we were served 6 halves, each half had a half a prawn. 3 prawns in all, not worth the up charge. Calamari - it looked great when it came out, steaming hot and perfectly evenly browned. However, there were pieces mixed in that were ice cold. I'm not sure how you can get ice cold pieces with piping hot pieces, it was a bit strange. Pot stickers - these were great and the sauce was even better! They were cooked perfectly & the only item out of the 5 we had that we liked. Pineapple rice with tofu - I've gotten this item many times, it's my go to. As soon as they set the plate down it smelled off. It had a bitter, chemical smell & it tasted the sanme as it smelled. Very off putting. It was a bit burned so I wonder if the oil was old or burned & that was causing the off flavor but I couldn't eat it. The waitress did apologize, offer something else & take it off my bill when I declined getting anything else. Rad nah - the flavor of this was very nice but the noodles were way overcooked. They were falling apart disintegrating, they were so over cooked. The employees we interacted with were all very nice!Other than the Pineapple rice we didn't mention the other bad items to them. I ordered pad see wu with beef. The beef smells very old, rancid. I don't know if it's safe to eat. The veggies were very stiff, hard to chew. They were barely cooked.
