I've been going to this Thai place for years, and while the locals will tell you it's amazing, take that with the grain of salt...local reviewers in small towns often haven't had broad enough experiences to know there's something better. Normally, I'd review this place at about 3 stars, nothing special but not horrible either, nothing to go out of your way for. That all changed with COVID. I've eaten here seven times since COVID and not only have their prices increased, but their food has become progressively more watered down and bland. Imagine a soggy pile of dripping wet, barely seasoned, pasty white noodles when you were expecting a pile of sweet tamarind filled Phad Thai. My soup was missing most of the normal ingredients, including onions, cilantro, tomatoes. The curry might as well be colored water and is also very light on the vegetables now. My last dish had completely uncooked vegetables with a huge pile of unseasoned meat on top. Everything is coming out way more spicy than ordered as well, probably to mask the missing flavors. I can understand that the restaurant industry is struggling right now, but if I'm going to drop 60 bucks on a meal, I'd expect there to at least be the menu advertised ingredients in it...in some portion. You definitely do not get MORE customers by treating the ones you have like dirt. I might try this place again in a year or two, but for now I'd rather drive 30 miles and get good Thai food than pay a premium for the bathwater trash this place is currently serving. read more

Wow very impressed with decor and attentive service, in Monroe, am I in the right town?! We started with Soup Tom Kha, one of my all time favorites and they do it right here, an explosion of taste in a coconut milk base. I could eat this all day. We followed up with Heavenly Coriander and 3-flavor Trout, and I thought the trout was amazing! Crispy skin, wonderful sauce, and how cool it is they leverage local ingredients like trout (I cant recall seeing trout on any other thai restaraunt around). They did a great job getting most of the bones out too (no small feat!). Brown rice was perfect. This is definitely a gourmet Thai restaraunt - can hardly wait to go back. I noticed the Thai Chili infused fish sauce was very fresh, unlike some places where it looks like it was prepared last week or month. Heat index seemed right (ordering x out of 5 stars). read more

Pineapple fried rice with chicken was super delicious, great portions. I really liked how the pineapple fried rice here is moist and saucy. The chicken was not dry. Only downside was that it feels a bit pricey at $15.29 for the order when I generally expect pineapple fried rice to be below $12 I would recommend visiting if you are hungry and in the area. read more

I know that a lot of people love this restaurant so it's possible I just caught them on a bad day. I ordered Crying Tiger Beef Salad and Fresh Spring Rolls with Prawns. The salad was fresh and they got my 2 star spicy request perfectly, but there wasn't any lime juice on the salad. There was also only one small spring of basil and one small spring of cilantro in the salad. Had they actually added lime juice, as is usual with Crying Tiger, and enough basil and cilantro to flavor more than one bite, the salad would've been delicious. It was either an oversight or cheapness, either way, it was not served as advertised. Now to the spring rolls. If you like iceberg lettuce with a few small pieces of prawn and absolutely no basil then these are for you. I also thought the peanut sauce was overly sweet and one dimensional. I had a great experience sitting down at this restaurant for a family members birthday and the food was delicious. There is a lot of variety on the menu too so it really caters to every customer. Found the food good. Wasn't bad but not outstanding. The spice level was difficult to determine. Four stars on the Pad Thai was not very spicy. The Thai ice tea is served in a huge glass!! The Benjarong Curry is so good! It's usually my go-to. My husband is a sucker for the classic chicken pad Thai and my daughter enjoys the chicken skewers and white rice. I love their food, more specifically, the only Thai food I ever order which is their red or green curry. I don't ever eat in store, no particular reason, I always order To-go whenever I want their food. Here comes the bad part. The individual that always takes my order, I think it's the owner, is super super super rude over the phone, and he's been rude to me on multiple occasions. I try to be as nice as possible to him when ordering but it seems he chooses to lay his accumulated frustrations on me and probably other customers, or maybe, that's just the kind of person he is, a super grumpy old man. I get worried whenever I'm about to order that I'm going to tick him off if I try to explain how I want my order (I'm a picky eater and there are certain veggies I don't want in my food). I hear things from him like "I heard you the first time", "You don't talk, I talk, you listen", all with a really snappy, nasty and saucy attitude. I've had a few occasions as well where other staff, not him, have been rude taking my order. I just don't know if that's how they've all been trained or if they are just soooo frustrated with their jobs. Like I said, I really do love their food, andI think that if that can serve the food with a side of really nice attitude, especially when ordering over the phone, I'd give them a 4-5 star. Stopped by this unexpected gem on our way back from Leavenworth. The food was good, not the best but top notch for the location. We had massame curry, phad kee mao, phad thai, holy basil, prik king and banjarong curry. Massame was a bit off and basil was a bit blend, but everything else are good. We ordered the food spicy 3 out of 5 stars because of kids, but if you are used to thai food 4 or 5 will be perfect. This is an absolute go to for my fiancé and I! We have been ordering take from them for years! I usually get the Pinapple fried rice with extra chicken for protein. I order the two star. Some days when it's cold and rainy I get the Tom Kah soup with a side of white rice, 2star spicy. My fiancé gets the senyai with extra chicken and 2star. We order from them at least once a week. And i know Covid is always the excuse. But it seems that many restaurants that were geared for mostly take out has pivoted quite nicely ( for themselves)... And aren't heading back to in person dining. Example is this restaurant and most teriyaki joints seem that they do not want to have people dine in.... They'd rather ride the take out wave. I worked in and ran restaurants for 10 years. Believe it or not... Some business models have actually increased revenue from the take out and. Delivery food as a result of the changing world... Rather than a place that mostly did in person dining. Less staff. Less washing. Less dishes...? Etc. Overhead cost is lower .. Menu $$ increased (before supply chain issues & staffing shortage)... And when more increased prices today The last 3 times we ordered here... Food items were missed. Wrong item cooked... The owner was short temperament. Almost didn't want a person there beyond making payment..... Borderline Rude, honestly. We live to far away to go back and have corrected... We call and seriously the answer was? "What did you want us to do? You can come back and i will give you some rice!" ... Wow Today we are eating at the restaurant... The food was very good... Pretty much minimal service interaction... Paper plated!! Wow! .. Bottle of water.... Sends a message that they don't want in-person dining.... Oh well... The price is too much for take out... 60.00 for 2 people?? No thank you... This food was absolutely gross...for starters the service was not good no smiles not being kind and the food was served on paper plates. We ordered two entrees with one appetizer. The appetizer was a veggie spring roll which was quiet greasy with no flavor the entrees were even worse. Small amounts of food for a high price I'm vegan so I ordered the deluxe vegetables but the vegetables only consisted of cabbage, onions, like two brocolli and four small pieces of fried tofu. It was gross honestly, greasy, and mixed with not so great service I gave this one star and honestly I would give it no stars if I could. The best part was the white rice we ordered. The second entree was seafood deluxe which was a very small amount of two shrimp two mussels and a small amount of calamari..40 dollars for a very poorly put together meal never again. read more

We got there at 8 and their closing hours for today was 9:30 but they were rushing us like they were closing within the next half hour. I am beginning to think that Thai restaurants are turning into a fast food make a profit now mentality vs taking pride of what they serve. Yesterday, went to Benjarong Thai in Monroe. It was my favorite place for Seafood Pad See Ew. My friend and I ordered their papaya salad (first time trying it) and Seafood Pad See Ew. Then, we decided to add the chicken satay. The chicken satay showed up first. At first glance... the chicken skewers looked over done. I was right... when I tried to take a bite, it was dry. I tried to put the peanut sauce to hopefully enjoy it... but that didn't help. The fork had a tough time getting the dry chicken out of the stick, so I just stopped eating it. We left 2 uneaten skewers and 2/3 of my skewers on the plate. My friend ate it, but didn't enjoy it. Life is too short to put overcooked tasteless food in anyone's mouth, I said. Overcooked anything doesn't agree with me. We told the clueless waitress and she just smiled and didn't understand overcooked. I told the other waiter that his chicken was overcooked and bland and he thought we wanted him to cook it more. I tried different ways to say it. Finally, he sort of understood... took the plate back to the kitchen to come back to tell us "that's the way we cook it". Well, seems like that's the way you don't care to serve decent food. Didn't even offer to bring one that was cooked right. I won't be ordering that again! Our next dish, the seafood pad see ew was good, but the shrimp was a bit over done, too. Flavor was good but $16 for that dish... I think they can put a little more noodles on it. Their papaya salad was delicious, but not good enough to come back for it. We ordered fried trout with their 3 flavored sauce, another fish with sauce I can't pronounce, calamari and Thai ice tea for drink. Excellent food, taste good, satisfying and served fast. Now you are served on a paper plate, no chopsticks or a knife, only a fork. no accompaniments - spices, sauces, etc The food was ok, but the Thai fried rice had cold vegetables, clearly added after the rice was prepared. And, when we raised these issues with the waiter (also, I believe, the owner) he rudely told us you have to ask for chopsticks or a knife and when we did he handed us the knife with his hand on the cutting part of the knife, while simultaneously handing us the check, as if telling us to leave.
