Great food. Eggs poached to perfection. Gluten free wAffles were great as our son is celiac. The fact that they only do gluten free waffles and pancakes makes it so much more reassuring that it'll be a safe and pleasant experience for celiacs. I have been here three times and though the decor is fun I found the food to be very average. I'm a celiac and gluten free waffles and pancakes were a huge disappointment. The portions were ridiculously large and the flavor was boring in both cases. They advertise that vanilla was in both and I found it to be quite lacking. The pancakes were very doughy and there were so many that I was to take home enough for 2 more meals. The fruit mixture was very good but I don't like whipped cream so I had it without. When I had scrambled eggs on my first visit they were very good. I may try the restaurant again but I ll stay away from the gluten free specialties read more

this used to be our every weekend sunday morning date. today we went in waited for a table. we sat. 2 other tables were sat after us and were served 1st. one was a friend to someone working there. we waited for ever to get food both tables who came in later were served first. food is normally well presented and today it was sloppy and rushed. i waited almost 3/4 of my meal to get a drink. than the server avoided us till we hit for our bill im super disapointed and not sure ill be back. was not good and service sucked read more

I had the bacon waffles and they were amazing. Me and my girlfriend are regulars here and love it every time! The atmosphere is awesome and so is the food. Sometimes it can take a while to get a table but it is very worth the wait! Our go-to place to bring out-of-town guests for a fun brunch experience. High marks for service, portion size, food, and atmosphere. Every time we've been, the owner has been quick to smile and greet, and we've seen him chip in and sling coffee when it's busy. Today was the first time we had to wait but the electronic waitlist made it easy to keep track of when our table would be ready, and we just explored nearby businesses in the meantime. Next time we'll use the app to join the waitlist when we leave home. I rarely order hollandaise sauce in other restaurants because it's often too rich, but Bennys is the perfect compliment to food without overpowering everything else. The coffee with Baileys and homemade whipped cream is a great treat, and I often order smoked salmon of some kind, which has always been fresh and generously portioned. As a former server, it's the little things that impress me the most. Name brand jams (not cheap no-name watery things). Insulated creamer for coffee, rather than edible oil product or stuff left on the table for god knows how long. Staff uniform shirts appropriate to the retro theme, not sexist, and not an impossible color to keep clean. Table top buttons to request your server's attention, although we've never had to use them since service has always been attentive. The only suggestion I would have for management is to replace the coffee cups. The "Bennys" custom cups looked great new, but now are showing wear and tear and ours both had small chips in them. This is to be understood when a fairly young, local business tries to make its mark and clearly doesn't cut corners elsewhere, but an update/replacement there would help with first impressions for others who haven't yet discovered Bennys' other strengths. Overall, there is an obvious effort being made to offer quality food and experience. We're quite happy to support that locally. read more

Waited almost 30 minutes after ordering for food and then when we finally got it, it was look warm. Obviously it was sitting there for awhile. Food was very unimpressive. The whole place is disorganized. Poorly run. Will not return. Many other breakfast places in south a Calgary with much better food and service. read more

We always love to go to Benny's and love the portion size. I'm not sure what happened with the cooking staff, but the once fluffy, cloud-like omelettes are greasy and flat. Thr Benny's cakes are over-cooked and everything tastes... rushed. I hope this is a temporary thing and we get our Benny's back! read more

first time coming here and im not impressed. the food is way too over priced for the amount of servings. ordered the avocado toast bennys with a fruit cup. it only came with one slice of toast and small cup of fruits and it came to $16???? the food and fruit was not pleasing. i couldve bought all the ingredients from walmart for the same price and have it taste better and fresher. the concept and theme is cute but definitely not coming back! read more

Menu is great, everything looks delicious! I ordered the Italia Benny's and was surprised to taste a spicy hollandaise - turns out they put cayenne pepper in the sauce. I'm not a big fan of spice so I found it to be too much, but my boyfriend loved it. Service was OK; very nice hostess, but the server wasn't around much. read more

My daughter and I went there on Saturday around noon. Very cool decor, the wait wasn't too long. We were excited as she LOVES egg benedict and breakfast in general. I ordered the Marilyn Monroe, which is regular bacon, eggs, hashbrowns and toast. My daughter ordered a half order of the classic eggs benedict and a small order of the cinnamon french toast. It came out fast!.........a little too fast. My bacon was lukewarm at best and my hashbrowns were barely warm. The hollandaise sauce on her benny was barely warm also. We don't like to complain and it tasted fine. After breakfast we went shopping and about 2 hours later, she was SICK! Running to the bathroom out both ends sick. Worst attempt at chicken and waffles I have ever seen in my life! Two tinny deep fried chicken fingers, which tasted like Costco brand and one soggy old waffle with no fixings and didn't even include butter. My husband got the vanilla cinnamon French toast with berries and whip cream. Two pieces he was served which seemed like a week old and just heated in the oven for 5 minutes. French toast was not even edible because it was so hard and dry came with one side serving of what appeared to be frozen berries out of a bag and one side serving of cheap pre made whip cream and I am not sure what the vanilla cinnamon description meant since it was plain French toast. If you can avoid this place at all costs please do so! Expensive for what you get, wouldn't even pay $5 for this again! read more

I have been going to Benny's for a couple of years and always enjoyed the food. Recently, a few changes were made to the menu items and not for the better. Rather than using an English muffin for the eggs Benedicts, they are now using an in-house made, gluten free, "Benny muffin". It is a dry, crumbly, and sweet pancake-type bread and it tastes awful. While you can substitute for rye toast or a bagel, they do not have an English muffin option. The hollandaise also appears to have changed from a thick yellow sauce to a lighter, more liquidity and tasteless option. Last, they are no longer serving mimosas or caesars. However, this last issue may be related to COVID, and may be temporary. I also note that they have switched to disposable cutlery and plates during the pandemic. Although understandable, it seems to be an unnecessary option not used by any other restaurants at this time. We are saddened to see the menu changes because we liked it here and the business seems to be run by a hard working couple who are both very nice. read more

I 10/10 do not recommend Benny's Breakfast. The food is so far below average my 9-year-old​ sister can cook a better meal than what is served here. My friend ordered the chicken and waffle breakfast, and her fried chicken looks exactly like the frozen strips you can buy at Walmart for 9.99 (she paid 15$ for her breakfast) I ordered the surf n turf benny and my lobster was hard as a rock and inedible while the tenderloin was dry, not flavoured. Hollandaise​ is soupy and salty. This kind of food is why you should always set the bar very low. read more

My wife and I the other morning were planning a day with lots of errands so were looking for a place to have an early morning meal before the long day of activities. I mentioned the regular franchise places we have been to often but then she said why not a new place called Benny's she had hear about from friends. Always up for a new place we headed off and came upon this funky 50's looking diner and were all smiles when walking into this fun and quirky decorated, blast from the past eatery. Seated quickly at retro red 50's tables and chairs, our senses of smell gave way to our attention in seeing the line cooks in plain site cutting up and cooking homemade, non-processed food for their customers. Seriously, a place where you could see how the food was being cooked and the care and attention that was taken to make meals like my mother used to .... and with a smile on their faces. The menu delighted both of us also as we couldn't decide right away what to eat for a simple breakfast. Everything looked great .... interesting .... and we both even laughed that before even figuring out what to have for breakfast , we both said we should come back soon and try something else on the lunch menu. To make this review easy for someone to read ..... try this place .... it is a recently opened jewel with food that is acutally tastey, reasonably priced, great service and at 7:30am in the morning eating and listening to great old classic music from the speakers .... my toes were tapping and my stomach stuffed after eating the whole plate of great food. For a brand new place, I was impressed ..... good job to the owners and servers .... and all those in the kitchen we saw putting out "actual homemade food" ..... well done. My only complaint .... is that when I asked my wife if we could come back for one of the burgers and beers some night for dinner, she said that they are only open till 3pm .... bummer .... so guess that burger delight will have to be at lunchtimes ..... until then, see you all at the malt shop ....... read more
