Great breakfast spot - sort of a time warp to the late 50s/early 60s. I particularly liked their hash browns and Texas toast.

I don't know if she's the owner but the older lady who was there is VERY VERY rude! Me and some coworkers ordered food before heading to work and when we stared to eat our breakfast tacos there was a hair in it. We called to let them know and they asked us to go back so they can replace it. My coworker did make the drive to return to the business and get a fresh taco and guess what? Another hair in the taco. I understand the first one was a mistake but the other one as well, come on. We learned our lesson and won't be going back. read more

Delicious old school cooking/food. Nothing fancy or "extra". Friendly staff. I went there about an hour and a half before closing and had an omelette with hashed browns and toast and pancakes on the side. Decaf coffee. (At like 2pm! LoL) $21 but I'm fine with that. A cute Mom & Pop shop with very friendly service. The food was Fresh made to order. It felt like going to your Aunts or Grandmas house for a homemade meal. You can see the cooks cut up your veggies in front of you to use for your breakfast meal. The Guisado is Delicious! I would definitely stop by again when I come in to town. read more

I had great hope for Bennys, based on other reviews. It wasn't bad, but I felt like stopping at a drive they to get breakfast after we left. I think part of the problem was we didn't speak Spanish and our waitress didn't seem fluent in English. In fact a second person came to the table to verify our order. Even with that, we had a miscommunication. We ordered a two egg breakfast with bacon, hash browns and white toast. We got the eggs which were cooked perfectly, the bacon, and bread slightly browned on the griddle. No hash browns. We finished breakfast sat without getting a check then when we went to the register, our breakfast that was $9.99 in the menu was $12.99 at the register. Oh, and it was cash only. Not a problem, but be aware. The eggs and bacon were very good, the rest of the experience not so much. YMMV read more

This place is a local favorite for a reason. Aside from tasty food, Benny's Cafe is clearly a labor of love for the owners who work the grill most mornings and know many of their customers by name. Prices are low and someone is always ready to top off your coffee. One of the best meals here is one of the simplest - the guisado bean and cheese taco. When you're in Del Rio, TX and have a hankering for some good, home-made eats, make your way downtown to Main Street and visit Benny's Cafe. This place is a hidden gem - you'll probably drive right by if you weren't looking for it, but it's legit. Benny's atmosphere is a mix of a mid-century diner with a counter and stools and a mom-and-pop cafe with tables and booths. The menu has standard diner fare, but what caught my eye is all-day breakfast (who doesn't love all-day breakfast)? It was lunchtime, but I ordered a Lee's taco (potatoes, eggs, peppers, onions, tomatoes) and a Marty's taco (potatoes, eggs, peppers, onions, tomatoes and cheese). Each was HUGE and packed with ingredients. Fresh, crunchy veggies mixed with hot, just scrambled eggs on a warm, soft tortilla. You can tell each taco is made with care. Definitely worth it, I highly recommend Benny's for anyone looking for a friendly place with good food in Del Rio! read more

Benny's has apparently been around since 1980 and I have somehow never been! It's a cute little old fashion dinner on Main Street that serves up everything from cheap, greasy burgers to your typical tex-mex staples. I was told to try the cheese burger and a guisado, bean and cheese burrito, so that is exactly what I did. It was a strange combo, but I left stuffed to the brim and happy. The burger was good, but I would have to say the guisado taco was the winner. It had great flavor and was enormous. I am going to have to go back for their breakfast next time I'm in town. Service was friendly, but not overly helpful. Half of the staff was sitting at the counter eating lunch themselves. Be aware, they only accept cash and I don't think there is an ATM anywhere very close by. read more

Down home homemade food. The service was great. It's a vintage diner. Service & food was the epitome of the classic diner. Country food as well as Mexican. They cook it all well. It's like if your grandmother asks you what you'd like to eat & she fixes you up. They're a solid five stars in my book. My family will definitely be back!!! read more

We chose this spot based on the Yelp reviews and I must say this is the first time in years that we've been disappointed. Most neat cafes have a bunch of people in them. Not this one. Empty. The food was just okay. She got my order wrong so my husband ended up with 4 eggs which made his breakfast passable. His Huevos Rancheros were not the best. Sorry Benny. You have a long way to go to live up to your other reviews. read more

Great experience! The staff was amazing and the food was great. Wonderful environment highly recommended.

We are so happy that Benny's cafe is now here and so close to our house. We will be back for sure. The wait staff was so nice and helpful just like at the Italian garden. The food was out quick, cooked to perfection and tasted great. My wife had the Denver omelet which she really liked, my oldest son who came with us today had the bananas foster pancakes and said that he would come back just to eat that. I had the chicken fried steak and eggs. The steak was seasoned well the outside was crispy and inside very tasty, my eggs were sunny side up and not undercooked. You can really tell who ever is in the kitchen knows what they are doing. Thanks again Benny's Cafe for making our Sunday breakfast a fantastic one. read more

Had a nice potato and egg taco. Very good with home made tortilla and you can watch from the counter as they make your food. Despite the big vintage decal on the window they don't have Ice Cream and make sure and hit an ATM at one of the banks up the street because they only take cash. read more

Cash only diner located in downtown Del Rio. Service staff was friendly and had plenty of seating. You can choose a traditional table, booth, or sit at the counter. In the back there was a section where they sold Christmas knick knacks. The food was amazing. I got the chorizo and potatoes taco, well seasoned, good portion. The food is really good. Classic dinner food with an at home feel atmosphere. Ordered a burger and fried which were cooked to perfection but a little disappointed that it didnt come together as a meal or platter. If you dont order fries you wont get them with your burger. This little cafe sits in the center of Del Rio's old town. It's really random and easy too miss, but it was actually pretty good. The service was good, food was good, and the price was reasonable. The building itself was old, but I mean, who cares when you get food like that! I got two breakfast tacos and enjoyed every bite. Definitely recommend and will be going back. read more
