Folks, here's an honest review from one happy customer and someone who's known Doug for many years. 40+ yrs Doug is a sweet, down to earth gentlemen that knows his $h!t on just about everything. He can work on bicycles that many know him by, but he is so much more on motorcycles, race bikes, off road bikes and quads. Not many know he is a Salinas native whom at one time was an AMA Super-bike Champion Bad A$$ that toured the world.... I am honored to have him as my personal mechanic on my 93 GSXR 1100 for all my personal needs. I trust NO ONE to work on my toys but rest assured you can trust Doug to get things running right and done right the first time. His prices are comparable and knowing whatever he works on, you can rest easy knowing he treats it as his own. I've gone to other bike shops in Salinas, Monterey, Seaside, San Jose and non compare to the respect and quality of service I get from DC-10. I paid $180 for an inspection, and they performed…read moredishonest, dangerously lazy work. ​I have photographic proof of the following: ​Blatant lies: They marked my oil level as "LOW" on the invoice. My sight glass shows it is perfectly full with clean oil. Note: i asked them to not do oil change because i do that myself. ​Dangerous negligence: They claimed to adjust my chain, but my "before and after" photos prove the alignment marks and slack never changed. Worse, they left the backing lock-nuts on BOTH the right and left swingarms completely loose. ​Loose hardware: Both brake fluid reservoir caps were left loose with noticeable play in them. I had to personally tighten the screws down further myself so they wouldn't leak or vibrate off. ​Skipped work: I explicitly asked for a throttle and clutch cable adjustment. They didn't even touch them--the play is exactly the same as when I dropped it off. ​Leaving critical hardware loose on both sides of the axle and completely ignoring requested safety adjustments after a paid inspection is incredibly unsafe. It feels like they will lie to scare you into buying unneeded services and send you out the door on an unsafe bike. Avoid RS Speed Shop at all costs.

Absolutely Disgraceful - Bill Would Be Ashamed…read more If I could give zero stars, I would. Ever since James took over the shop, it's been a complete disaster. Bill must be turning over in his grave watching the legacy of his once-respected business crumble into this joke of a garage. I took my Harley in for service and ended up returning multiple times, each visit leaving my bike in worse condition than before. I finally had to take it to a professional shop in the Bay Area just to undo the damage. The mechanic there literally asked if someone was trying to kill me/us. That's how dangerous the work done here was. A new rear tire was mounted incorrectly, causing rubbing and leaving a deep 1/2-inch gouge around the entire tire before we realized what was happening. They also installed used parts without my consent -- completely unacceptable. When I went back to confront them and request a refund, I was smugly told to "take it to small claims court, others have." So, that's exactly what I'm doing. It doesn't stop there. My girlfriend's son took his bike in for a basic oil change and left with a cracked reservoir and a brake handle that literally fell off while he was riding it home. This place isn't just unprofessional -- it's outright dangerous. Stay far away. This shop is a lawsuit waiting to happen, and I genuinely fear for anyone trusting their lives to the work being done here.
