This is by far the worst fair experience I have had in my 43 years of life. $10 for a corn dog. $2 for putting it on my card. $9 for a chips and cheese. A plain gas station nacho. $4 for a bottle of water. $50 for 3 to park and get in. Not 1 place to sit. Drunks everywhere. People were rude. I will NEVER go to another fair again. After 1 hour I left. Where do I start? $13 for a glass of lemonade. $18 for piggly wiggly fries. $16 for a beaver burrito. $40 for wristbands for the kids. And to top it off-they are allowing VENDORS to compete in the fair. A specific jewelry vendor-that was selling her wares at the new "makers mall" entered NUMEROUS of her pieces in the competition. Theoretically, everything is judged on its own merit. This vendor SWEPT the competition. NOBODY who had entered had a prayer in hell to compete against her, individually meritoriously judged work or not. And when it came to best of show-everyone else was judged against a VENDOR. The ONLY reason the fair would have promoted a "makers mall" is to increase the attendance. That backfired on the fair board. WE ARE FURIOUS. MANY MANY MANY of us are FURIOUS. MANY MANY MANY OF US HAVE AND SHALL BOYCOTT THE FAIR. Your entries are SIGNIFICANTLY diminished as they should be based on your decision to allow VENDORS to compete with non professional artists. Popcorn and movies. Wine and chocolate. Hockey and Beer. The Benton Franklin Fair & Rodeo hosts one such duality on an annual basis - a roundhouse kick to the olfactory as you enter the fairgrounds and are bombarded by the scent of roasted turkey legs and bovine poop fritters. This sprawling landmass of carnival rides, games, giant belt buckles and tube tops finds its way to deep Kennewick each year for about a week. Fried goodies at country club prices are ever-present. I'm partial to the giant hubcap of fried dough and cinnamon sugar called Elephant Ears (found several places, but best at the Rotary stand). Served on parchment paper in a suspect plastic shopping bag, these steaming delights are sure to please while your clothing is inadvertently plastered with confectionary dustings. Other foodstuffs are in the form of bulging blocks of curly fries, behemoth burritos, colossal corn dogs with beer batter, titanic turkey legs, and the ever-indulgent: fried butter. The BFFR has two sections of thrill rides - one geared at the kiddos and one for those of us over 36". If you're making the fair your project for the day, get the ride wrist band - which gives you unlimited access to ride entry. You'll find it paying for itself after just a few rides. I'm a sucker for taking the kids on the Carousel, flattening my organs on the Gravitron, and surveying the land from atop one of the large Ferris Wheels. A major draw of the fair is the animal barns. Oinkers, Mooers, Neighers, Hoppers, Cluckers, and Bleaters are there to be interacted with, giving kids and adults a chance to meet up with some fascinating farm friends. The rodeo is an ongoing feature that is included in the cost of entry. Horse racing, steer roping, a verbal accosting by rodeo clowns breeds an exciting atmosphere. A highlight is the "Mutton Busting" wherein young kids try to ride a sheep that is hell bent on outpacing an SR-71. The concert stage is one of the final features that usually showcases musical acts that have seen better days, but offers up a hot steamer of nostalgia. For additional fees, you can upgrade general lawn seating to an area much closer to the stage where you can really see how the beautiful artists of your youth have began to wrinkle and bloat like the rest of us humans. It can improve in many ways. The food can diversify, the arts and crafts booths can offer much more, the musical acts could be less Paleolithic, and it takes a small mortgage to fully appreciate the experience. But the fair is good fun and appropriate for all ages, can spur some solid enjoyable memories, and will finally allow you to fit into those fat pants that you've been eyeing in the corner of your closet. read more

We have the most pathetic Fair I have ever been to, I quit going to it about 10 years ago. That is how long it has been pathetic! You can see the entire fair grounds in 2 hours, because there is nothing to see. Not to mention the Prices, they have been over the top for years! And let's talk about space for disabled people who want to see the rodeo, oh yea THERE IS NONE!! AND let's talk about the MUSIC?? What Music?? Is that what you call it. WOW! I know you can do better than that, Right?? Just to let you know, if you care, I will never be coming back to our county fair again. read more

This place is not equip to handle anyone with special needs or with medical conditions. I hope someone sues them for allowing people fill out paperwork in the Hot sun with no AC or cold water to drink. If anyone else is having the same issue please report it. They over charge the vendors to the point there's hardly anything here to look at! And the prices I feel like I've been raped for the worst vendorless fair on the planet. My kid had a blast but he'd have a blast at a park for free . This should be the Disneyland of Kennewick for what you charged!!! I WILL NEVER BE BACK.
