It was okay when I went there but overall I wouldn't put my children there and the curriculum was horrible

Pennies is a neat little store tucked in Sierra Vista. Adequate parking at store front…read more Their description got one thing right - it is truly an "eclectic mix" indeed! There are a couple of circular racks of clothing and belts. Move on through the store and discover cabinets of knick-knacks like jewelry boxes, figurines, and even Himalayan Salt lamps that would make wonderful gifts for the right person. My favorite part? The craft room! I picked up some rolls of fabric and zippers for my sewing projects. I apologize I cannot speak for the clothing prices, but I believe I walked away with a good deal. Less than $10 for all of my goodies.

I popped in to check them out on a Friday, and was sad to be the sole customer inside of the very spacious former furniture store that was Atha's. FYI, as I understand it, Friday is when most serious bargain hunters hear a mystical horn in the distance, signaling the beginning of the race to discover hidden treasures. Penny's was exactly what I'd feared, an old fogies' perpetual garage sale, more trash than treasure. Yeah, I'm saying that the Salvation Army would reject most of what I saw hanging on their racks and carefully arranged on the display tables. They aren't lacking variety - they had tons of nicknacks, books, clothes, housewares, and furniture. Such a shame that everything was past its prime & outdated, without the necessary nostalgic flair to be considered vintage. The whole scene made me feel horribly depressed, 'cause I just know that the sweet old ladies that were there were really excited to price and stock the store with all of that stuff. *sigh* I wish these weren't such harsh times, ladies of Penny's. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe Sierra Vista is the perfect niche market for your vision, maybe there are enough people in town with sentimental mindsets, who yearn for some of yesteryears flavor. Maybe, just maybe...
