This is not the place you want to go for your floor / carpet installation needs. Their installers did a terrible installation job on the floors in our home. One of the workers was smoking out front and we found their discarded cigarettes in the yard. Low class, shoddy work from start to finish. We definitely regret selecting Bereman carpets. Go somewhere else. The process started out fine. Paul was very helpful, polite and professional, however as soon as we wanted to move the process forward things fell off the rails. Lack of follow through, emails taking days to respond to and typos in quotes. After wasting so much time, I found another carpet and floor company that has been fantastic and got things moving and we now have gorgeous floors. Mr Johnson, the on site owner operator is the key man. He listens well and accommodates, your concerns. A highly respected and recommended business, I was initially very pleased by their understanding, of what I needed. Mr Johnson stepped up and clarified to Paul (the salesman): what I wanted. Thank you kindly! Because I was pressed by time, on my rental renovation: I was pleased Paul visited the next day, to measure and furnish an estimate. The estimate was extremely high.... Well, I was in a difficult situation: because I only had 2 weeks to totally renovate, so I agreed. The crew that laid the carpet, kept the old pad: because it was in good shape and I would not have to shave doors down. So, I called and spoke directly to Mr Johnson. I asked for a senior discount ( saw in reviews) and credit for the pad. He was professional and kind. I have not yet been billed for the second payment, but feel Mr Johnson will be much fairer, than Paul. Will let you know. The new tenant likes the basic carpet. We had a room recarpeted. We walked in to look at samples, took some home, they sent someone out to double-check the measurements, we selected the carpet/padding we liked, and made an appointment for the installation. Installation was quick and easy. Good value. I recommend going into the store rather than calling- there's usually only one person there and it gets fairly busy so they might not answer. read more

I have been using Bereman Carpets for many years and have been very happy with their service....until now. There is a new employee whom I have not worked with before. He was attentive when I came into the store to make my selection and said he would call me to set up a time to come and Take the needed measurements. No phone call. I called and set up a day and time. He didn't show and said I had the wrong day. I'm employed I can't afford to have the wrong day. We were able to reschedule weeks later. He said he would call with a date for instillation. No phone call. I called and arranged for instillation. He gave me a date and time. I was there for the Instillation and no show. When I called to see what happened he said I had the wrong day. This happened 2 more times, same story I had the wrong day. I will never return to Bereman Carpets nor will I recommend them to anyone. read more

Called Sean on a recommendation of a friend. Our preschool needed new carpet as part of a room for flooded. Sean came out and gave an estimate. He was nice...prompt and even brought a few samples. (2 previous did not show up and 2 never brought even a few samples) He sent the estimate via email within 2 days. We decided to go with Bereman and a few weeks later our carpet tiles were installed. If there ever was a worse carpeting place this would be it. Today I replaced a job they did only 3 years ago. When the shabby job was completed, I called to complain. I was not rude but the owner/manager refused to speak to us. They brought the wrong carpet. Took an entire day to do two 8ft hallways. Today Home Depot replaced our entire upstairs for a few hundred dollars more. No remaining carpet ends showing. No poor cuts or zero stretch. Go Home Depot. Go away Bereman read more

Tom came out to our house and pulled up our carpet only to find out we had real oak wood flooring and he was honest and said that it would be worth it to refurbish the wood floor... We paid a personal visit to the store and were helped right away to find what we wanted. It was a very encouraging visit. The salesman came out the next day and measured. So far so good. He said he would call the following day with the quotes. We were all ready to get this smaller job done immediately. We planned to move on right after that-- to redo larger floor areas in our home. If Bereman's service was good, we planned to give all of the job to the company. But the salesman never called back. We called a day later, wondering what was going on. We were told he was "on another line" and "would call back." He never did. We emailed a day later,. No response. We left a phone message asking when we were going to be contacted so we could place our order. No response. Thus far it has been a week. So as of today we are taking our good will and our money someplace else. Too bad, as Bereman came highly recommended by our contractor. Not a good way to treat the public. read more

Bereman's Carpet in Monterey is a small family owned business and they treat you like family! We bought our wall to wall carpet from them in 2007. . Great carpet, great installation, no problems. Recently, we noticed a slight wrinkle in the carpet near the door way to the bathroom, so I called and Sean came right out to inspect.Today the installers came to fix the wrinkle in the carpet near the doorway, for free. What great customer service! Over five years later! That is a company who stands behind their product and their work. I just want to recommend them if you are looking for flooring or carpet. I bought my wood floors from Bereman and had them installed by them. The floors were beautiful - unfortunately, after 3 years (floors should have lasted 25) the middle area from the living room into the den started to sink. I spoke with Sean at Bereman numerous times - he was not helpful. He took no responsibility for the problem. They had misfiled my paperwork and denied that they had even installed them. Even after I offered to provide him with copies of my cancelled checks - he said there was nothing he could do. After about 6 weeks and multiple phone calls I was able to speak with Tom who found the paperwork within 5 minutes. Sean also stated it was my fault there was a problem with the floors because I had hired my own contractor. I explained, again, to him that they chose the contactor. They finally scheduled an appointment for the contractor to come take a look. He was very nice but he seemed to have amnesia as well. No memory of being here or installing the floors. And, in all his experience - he had never seen the problem. Bereman took absolutely no responsibility for anything. After much expense, time and frustration (plumbers, leak detectors, flooring consults, and finally a general contractor) the floors were pulled up to find a rotted out subfloor and much mold (I had to move out while it was dealt with). The general contractor said that the new floor was laid with the moisture barrier placed in the wrong place causing the damage. So I have spent a fortune to get the problem resolved. I would never use this company again. read more
