My first visit to Bergamot yesterday was AMAZING! I loved the interior of the space. Nothing over the top, just a warm and inviting atmosphere. I thought it was a little strange having to take off my shoes upon entry (spa sandals were provided). Had I had nicer shoes on, I wouldn't have wanted to just leave them by the front door for anyone to take if they felt so inclined. I learned later (after my massage) that there are lockers in the bathroom. I assume I could have locked my shoes up if I had wanted, but that wasn't offered to me. I was promptly greeted by my massage therapist (Ty) after I filled out some new client paperwork. She showed me to the treatment room, and it was truly the nicest one I had ever been in. I LOVED the up lighting in the room. It added a calming glow to an otherwise dark room. Not only did my therapist read my chart, but she sat down and discussed my wants/needs for my 75 minute session. You don't get that kind of personal interaction at larger day spas. Some of those spas are more like a "one size fits all" quantity over quality places. That is not the case here. My massage was WONDERFUL. It was the right amount of therapeutic and relaxing, and the use of warm towels was the cherry on top. Ty addressed my areas of concern and took the time after my massage to tell me her findings. I have definitely found my new place to go to for massage. I see no reason to go anywhere else now unless I'm out of town. I wish I would have stopped in sooner! I love Bergamot and have had several wonderful, relaxing massages. I usually book the same massage therapist but this time I wanted to see what someone else might bring to the table (no pun intended). The massage therapist was kind and welcoming but I noticed that she had on an earbuds-type headset that she wore around the back of her neck. OK, maybe she listens to something that gets her into her groove but several times during the massage she seemed to drift her focus away from me: only one hand on my body that seemed to just stop in mid stroke or repeated massaging the same area over and over and over again, each time getting deeper than the medium touch we had discussed. I even could hear another sound in the room other than the soothing music that was playing. Was that coming from her earpieces? She also spent so much time on my back side that by the time she asked me to flip over the massage was almost done. She just seemed distracted. I will go back but to my usual therapist who has always kept me 100% the focus of her attention. read more

I had a good massage but didn't get to relax as I hoped. I wish they had an option for male, female or either masseuse. I would have felt more comfortable if my masseuses was a woman. Other than that, I'd go back. read more

Worst massage I have ever received. Sincerely, it felt like the practitioner had no idea what they were doing. I felt neither relief, satisfaction, or relaxation. With this place having such a high rating I was confident that my money would be well spent. First timer. My hubs purchased a gift certificate for the Botanical Wellness package at Bergamot Massage for my birthday. I called last week to schedule service and was able to get in within a week or so. I'm super fussy about spa services so of course, with no prior experience with this place, went into the appointment a bit skeptical. I'm telling you right now, this place knocked my socks clean off. It's impeccably clean, the staff was amazing, and it's clear that Deanna and Seth spent a lot of time thinking through every detail of this spa. Between the foot soak, sauna, body scrub and wrap, the massage, cinnamon plum tea and dark chocolate treats, I left there feeling absolutely relaxed and renewed. You will not regret booking here. This is the description from the website: Forest Therapy Massage - Our signature Forest Therapy massage harnesses the goodness of nature to promote relaxation and healing while providing a novel massage experience and includes: a warming foot bath in Japanese cypress soak or scrub, cold stones on the face, feathering brushes on the body as an introduction of touch, a diffusion of cedar eucalyptus oil in the air and applied during the massage, a hot aromatic alchemy infused towel to close, followed by a cup of herbal tea to savor. I think there was a diffusion of cedar eucalyptus oil (honestly I couldn't really smell it). Otherwise, though, it was a pretty standard 1-hour massage. No foot bath, no cold stones, no herbal tea. It did start with light massage but I'm pretty sure it was just the therapist's hands, and I was offered a dry towel at the end to get the excess oil off. It was a decent massage, but I'm very disappointed by the false advertising, especially since this cost a bit more than their other 1-hour massage options. I do not recommend the forest therapy massage. read more

Lovely salon, quick service, quality products. I enjoyed my 60 minute massage with Casey. She has a way with stretching that will leave you all losey limbered up. Both my boyfriend and I had massages. The membership is something i am seriously considering. I was impressed that they never pushed a membership. All business is done quietly and discreetly. Rooms are warm and subtle. The only thing i would suggest is a music selection option. I wanted to break the digeridoo ten minutes in. My boy, however, had aome lovely orchestral soundtrack music. I first went last week on my birthday for a 75 minute massage. I wasn't very happy; I had to tell the massage therapist twice to ease up on the pressure, and for some reason she put us in the room adjacent to the lobby, so I could hear everything going on out there. I mentioned these concerns when they emailed me for feedback, and to my pleasant surprise, I was contacted the next day with an offer for a complimentary massage with a different therapist! I really appreciated that. So today I had the second massage and it was MUCH, MUCH better. I needed relief from our year of covid strangeness, and got a great massage at Bergamot with Jessica. The salon is beautiful. I really appreciated the extra care they take with masks and timing of clients to safeguard all of us from exposure. I've had maybe hundreds of massage over the years, but it is not easy to find a therapist that listens to your needs and follows through. My needs were specific: moderate pressure, no work on face or head, focus on legs and feet. Jessica has mastered the art of listening, and I received the bodywork that I requested. She is an intuitive therapist. She keeps steady pressure and does not hurry or cut the movements short. Excellent job on my neck! I feel truly de-stressed. Bergamot Massage is a GEM of a find in Madison. It is a locally owned business with caring, compassionate massage therapists who really understand how to use massage in a holistic way. Seth is my usual therapist, and for a yoga teacher with a persnickity body, he's a treasure. Sometimes I go for a therapeutic session, sometimes for just a relaxation. He always meets me where I am, as he is really THAT good. He takes the time to understand what is going on with you as a WHOLE and works with your body. He is kind, friendly, professional, and I can't recommend him enough. On top of everything they have a cute boutique, which is a great place for a gift. This place is lovely! The decor is beautiful and warm. It feels very relaxing. I got a 75 minute massage with Rachel and it was great. She checked in and used the perfect amount of pressure. There was a blue light built into the wall in the room and it was very comforting. Part of me wishes it had a more spa like feel. They have you change into "spa shoes" when you arrive and that's where the spa experience ends. Then you get undressed and dressed in the room where you get your massage. Adding in a bathrobe or even a relaxation room could add to the experience. read more

Seth is the best massage therapist I have ever been to, and I've been to quite a few. He is the first person who gets deep enough to actually work out the problems I experience. He always talks to you beforehand, NOT during the allotted massage time, to find out what you want to focus on and he will actually work on what you request. He is incredibly kind and has more than once given me a couple extra minutes to finish up what he was working on and make sure that I leave with all of my issues addressed. I cannot rave about him enough. The office itself is incredibly clean and deeply relaxing. They sell a variety of products from essential oils to lotions to gels to help ease muscle pain, and they are always featuring something new, so the options don't get old. I've never had a professional massage before and decided to give Bergamot a try. The location was close to work, so it was a win after a long stressful day. I went with a wild lime scalp treatment because I tend to carry stress in my neck,shoulders, and head. Jessica was fantastic and I felt so calm and peaceful after my session. It's usually hard for me to relax fully, but she was able to get me to a complete state of relaxation. Seth, one of the owners, was fantastic! Honestly, this is one of the best massages I've ever had. The young lady - Megan - who gave me a massage was really great - attentive and very professional. Sadly the blonde girl at the front desk and the rotund, bearded guy were not. At all. On arrival - my first time there - while 'signing in' - I hear both make fun of my strong foreign accent - not the kind of thing you want to experience when trying to relax and forget the world. So the massage is great - but sadly the administration and 'welcome' very poor - soured it. I went here for a massage before Christmas because the person to whom I usually go was not available. It was awful. Too much oil. Lots of rubbing oil into my hair. 50% of the time focused on my back and not my neck and shoulders like I had communicated. But, it was a lot of rubbing oil on my body but not massaging. I chatted with the masseuse afterwards & expressed my disappointment. I wish I had asked for a refund or something. read more

Outstanding massage therapy. After three days of horrible neck pain, I called around to the usual places only to find that absolutely nowhere had last-minute availability. A friend recommended calling Bergamot and they fit me in within two hours. The boutique was fabulous, the business is locally owned (not a chain), and they pride themselves on giving you the full 60 minutes instead of the usual 50. Jessica did a fantastic job asking about the problem areas and proceeded to treat them amazingly, along with a wonderful full body massage.
