To get film developed go anywhere else. Avoid here. Not only did it take me three months to get a refund (will tell story below) My prints take too long. Always take a very varied time to comeback (anytimefrom 7 days to THREE weeks?). Poor quality. No accountability. Prices are WAY too high. Overall bad. And, customer service is so very poor. ~ So, June I dropped off a disposable fujifilm. The woman told me it was 27$ dollars to get it developed. 27??? For 1 camera! Pictures on a CD? So. I asked again. She got ANGRY and said it was 27$. After an awkward moment because I had no idea why she was yelling and I knew it didn't cost 27$ as I've dropped off many disposables there, I said I came all this way I just paid and left. When I came to pick it up (took way too long, about 17 days although they say it's 1-2 weeks) She hid behind the counter and wouldn't make eye contact with me. And the other boy behind the counter said I had a refund to be issued. So- it wasn't 27$, she was wrong, and yelled at me for no reason. She never apologized and every time I've gone in their since she's avoided me. Anyway, boy behind the counter said he couldn't issue me a refund, he didn't know how or something? Took me 2 months to build up the courage and demand my refund. I have not and never will step foot in here again. Anyway. Go anywhere else. recently they've encouraged customers to leave them yelp reviews. I hope reading this and other reviews moves them toward WAY better customer service, they lost me as a customer despite me going there loyally for years due to such poor treatment. read more

This time around I was struggling with my decision. After lots of input from several different salesmen and many visits, I decided I had to make a decision before 2018. I recently visited this incredible location, where I bought a beautiful Sony camera with all the lenses I needed, camera case and anything else that was needed to be set for photographic endeavors. I originally thought that I could get the best deal online with the usual websites and online retailers. Let me tell you, there is no personal service and attention with online retailers. Instead I called this esteemed establishment, got Bob Garamegna, one of the owners on the phone, who was recommended to me. He spent quite a bit of time reassuring me that he could help me to make the right choices. I drove almost 50 miles to Bergen County Camera and met with Bob. Here's a man who clearly understands customer care, and attention to giving the customer exactly what is needed. Bob spent 1.5 hours with me just on explaining to me the ins and outs of the camera, and not once did he try to upsell me, but rather, taught me everything I needed to know about my new equipment. I wish I could give Bob and his business an "infinity" on star rating! He not only matched the price of any online retailers, but beat them! Customer service is not available with any online retailer, instead Bob was careful to go through every feature on my camera. I got equipment and a 1.5 hour class on "how to" make the best of what I was buying. The first time I visited Bergen County Camera in Westwood was after I returned to a big box store to ask some questions about my camera and lens I purchased there when using a flash I had received as a gift that hadn't been purchased there. The salesperson did not want to help me with my situation (especially with the flash not purchased there) and kept going to the web for answers to my questions that I thought should have been straight forward. I walked into Bergen County Camera in Westwood with my camera, lens and flash and within one hour the salesperson had explained things and had given me the confidence to go out and use my camera. From the basics of photography to the computer side of getting images out of my camera they explained it all. Since this original visit to BCC I have returned many times and have gone to several of their evening classes in photography and Photoshop. My photography has improved dramatically thanks to these photographer first salespeople. Several people here actually shoot professional in addition to working here. Pricing surprisingly on many items, especially the cameras and lenses in the flyers are actually close or the same price to many of the big box stores. They are always ready to help with your imaging questions and if they don't know the answers, they will find them. I love the amount of service and support I've received there, I got a full tutorial when i bought my first digital slr and was recommended the necessary supplies to go with it, but they didnt try to sell me everything just to make money. When I need a camera, this is where I go. The value you get in customer service and continued support are unmatched. They support their customers years after purchase; I've emailed them lousy pictures I've taken and they've called to tell me what to do and always invite me back to the store so they can work with me to fix my errors. And, there's the time I wanted to spend $ and they talked me out of it because, as Bob said, "Barb, you're not going to gain enough for what you'd have to spend." Top quality service! They have helped me and my fiance out so many times! Between buying cameras, buying camera supplies and developing film, we've been loyal customers and we keep coming back because of how knowledgeable and helpful they are. 1st of all, they have everything. And, if by some chance they don't, they can get everything. My fiance originally found this place because they're one of the only Leica dealers around that has a great stock of most models. I'm not nearly as "high-tech" (that's my polite way of saying he's an electronics geek) as he is when it comes to cameras, but I came along for the ride. Once he started talking to the salesman about technical stuff I immediately went into glazed-over, hair twirling, bored toddler mode. UNTIL, I saw a colorful, pretty box that said HOLGA in big letters. I needed it. I had wanted one for forever and for some reason just never bought it. So here he is, buying an ultra fancy digital camera with video, and all the other cool stuff it can do, and I'm enamored with a cheap plastic camera with a plastic lens that shoots in 120. The guys that work there had a good laugh about it. That doesn't mean that he got any more attention than I did, though. While he's with one salesman doing his thing, Jonathan who works there spent like half an hour with me teaching me about the film, what speed is good for what situation, how to load it (I somehow destroyed one of their test rolls), etc. I honestly haven't been helped like that by someone who works in a store, in god, I don't know how long. So, novice to expert you will get great service! Much more helpful and more of a 1-on-1 experience than larger electronics/camera stores. I love this place and can't recommend it enough. My husband and I discovered Bergen County Camera through their Saturday morning "focus sessions". These are free 30-45 minute classes held in their store every Saturday morning. I was an absolute neophyte, with a budget point and shoot, and they taught me so much that I managed to get amazing images out of my little camera. So of course, when it was time for me to upgrade to a "big girl camera", I bought from BCC....and they did not disappoint. Hands-on help whenever I need it; the best service and frequent field trips to the Bronx Zoo, Longwood Gardens and other great spots, with experts along to help you find the shots. Oh yeah, and a critique session after every field trip where you share prints of your best shots with classmates to learn new photographic perspectives. The personal care and attention makes all the difference. As a neophyte getting ready for my first "exhibition" I needed six digital b + w photos printed -- but had no idea what I was doing. Barbara Degraw, who handles the printing, guided me through paper choices and helped me correct a problem in my photo (not in the printing!) at the last minute. The staff here is helpful and supportive when it comes to camera equipment: they do not try to guide you to the most expensive choice, but the right one for you and your level and needs. (I was talked out of buying something bigger and more expensive!). The prices are higher on equipment but the support and service makes it well worth it. visited this place once with a fisheye lens i purchased. took it here to have em check it out, and get some film for it. the associate who looked at lens promptly opened up the lens, with the glass front element falling out and breaking on glass case (didn't find out it was broken till i got home). called em up, and they were a lot less than helpfull. with me basically jumping through hoops to get nothing in the long run. thankfully did not affect pic quality, but bush league all the way. i will never go back here again, and tell everyone i know the same. could not have been handled any more unproffesional like!!! from my one visit....just a terrible place, i'll show you my lens to prove it!! read more

If you know what you want, Bergen County Camera is NOT for you. Prices are at or OVER Suggested Retail Price. Agreed, customer service is excellent at BCC but if the bottom line is price, you will be shocked at what they ask for. Even when showing the managers the price you can get at B&H photo or Adorama camera (both next day ground shipping from NYC and NO TAX) they would not budge on their prices. I'm not talking about a few dollars here but a $1200 Camera at any of the NYC respected camera shops for over $1800!! Hard to believe but it's true. Wanting to keep my business in the local community, I even suggested to the managers that I was NOT looking for them to "match" the price (I agree there is some value in their excellent customer service) but to simply bridge the 50% difference in price a bit. They wouldn't hear any of it. Their price was their price and I had no choice but to use their competitors. I would have loved to buy at Bergen County Camera but paying 50% more? With a price ABOVE suggested retail? Come on guys... This ecomomy can''t afford shops like yours. Who pays MORE than "suggested retail price" these days? Bergen County Camera is one of the greats! I bought a $600+ Canon DSLR camera, have taken advantage of their photography classes and just had a very pleasant experience editing and printing pictures at the work stations set-up in store. Staff helped me purchase the right camera for my needs, use my camera to take the best photos possible and edit beautiful pictures of my 13 month old daughter. I walked in to edit and print my pictures and walked out 20 minutes later with over 100 pictures, cards to mail the pictures and a beautiful 5x5 frame (which can be difficult to find). All of the staff I have encountered are excellent most recently Bridgette helped me edit and print all my pictures, she was fantastic! Staff @ BCC are incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, I have never experienced better service. BCC gets my highest recommendation. read more

Once again disappointed with the service. Once again Bergen County Camera disappoints and wastes my time! I needed to buy gels for a strobe light, specifying monolight not a flash. When I called and spoke to one of their "professionals" who stated they had them in stock. I drove down there (about 20 minutes) walk in and wait another 5 until someone helps me. I said I just spoke to ___ (Even though I'm upset I won't give exact names) and he stated that you had them in stock. Right away they took me to the Rogue flash benders (which were overpriced - as is everything in the store) and handed me speed light gels! I specified that those are NOT gels for strobes, but flashes and I required monolight gels. _____ started to sweat a little as he had no clue what a strobe light was, or that larger gels even existed. He ran all around the store looking for gels and asking for help (about another 10 minutes). So i'm already in this for a total of 35 minutes. He comes back and says they do not have the gels. When I said I just called and spoke to YOU on the phone and YOU told me you had them in stock, what I am supposed to do? I just wasted 40 minutes of my day for nothing! I asked Can you at least reimburse me for gas? I knew he wasn't going to, but I wanted to be a little bit of a jerk for wasting my time. He told me to hold on, grabbed another associate who looked again for the gels (another 5 minutes) and then told me he's sorry but they are on order. All said and done 45 minutes of my time wasted, and that doesn't even count the 20 minute drive back home. I will NEVER shop here again. B&H Photo has always been great, and if I absolutely need something that day I'll drive the extra 15 minutes to Unique Photo in Fairfield, NJ. read more

Granddaughter selected to go on international school trip. Her mom gave her the family Nikon SLR to take. Suggested she get some one-on-one tutoring. I was elected to drive granddaughter to Bergen Camera. My grandfather and father were both did professional photography so I've been around the business but not necessarily current on every digital item. We signed up for one-on-one class with Paul Carretta. He instantly was able to connect with 15 year old granddaughter. Paul was able to explain ISO, f/stops, shutter speeds, all the things she would need but do it in a manner that would improve her pictures. He gave her a list of "do it yourself" assignments to be sure she would understand the concepts after she left the store. She came with a list of stuff she needed to buy which we did not show to Paul until after the class. They have many choices in each category. Paul spent as much time explaining how to clean a lens with cleaner and cloth (maybe $10?) as he did on the more expensive flash attachment ($200+). Paul was totally focused on granddaughter getting the kinds of pictures she wanted, not on selling stuff or rushing her out the door. Was a very enjoyable experience, I learned a lot as well. On way home granddaughter asked if she could do it again just before they leave on the trip. We were both very thrilled with the Bergen County Camera experience and Mr. Carretta. The service is fantastic - friendly, knowledgeable and patient. In my first phone conversation, I was given great advice about what would be a good next step for me camera-wise (and also less expensive). I went in to the store the next day and was given an invaluable missing piece of information about how to use my existing equipment (which will make all the difference in my photography) from a very knowledgeable, patient and helpful staff member, and then returned to a very friendly, generous welcome on my subsequent visit . I am so happy to know that there is a place where I can go with my questions, and feel very comfortable knowing that I will be treated very fairly, patiently and quite knowledgeably.
