I visited Hartgers on the recommendation of a friend who, as I understand it, has a long standing relationship with them over the last 20-25 years. If I'm being honest, the air is beyond elitist and uncomfortable. God forbid you don't intend to drop $10k, at a minimum, on one of their offerings. NO ORANGE JUICE FOR YOU!!!! I brought my men's Rolex President 18K white gold in for 5-year maintenance. I usually go to Rolex in NYC; however, I decided to try a local place. "My first big mistake". Not only did Hartgers use non-Rolex parts in the watch, but it also came back in a plastic zip lock bag, not even polished up. Very disappointed in Hartger's. Yet my silly self somehow forgot to write this review (ironically, I'm in Reno, NV right now and just thought about Hartgers!). Most recently, Lauren knew I really wanted a Bluesy. I was so surprised at how quickly she set one aside for me. Just fantastic! I have to say. Hartgers is by far my favorite store. I have worked with Lauren almost exclusively and I'm not sure it's possible to find a family more caring and more invested in their clients. There is a warmth at Hartgers that doesn't exist elsewhere. Maybe it's due to the changing times and the consolidation, but it's an old school vibe where they want you to feel like family. I called to ask if they would do a watch band adjustment for a watch purchased elsewhere and they warmly invited me in to let me know they would assist complimentary! Hartgers extorted me on spending a fortune on none desired models to get desired PATEK and ROLEX models and never delivered. This is why they LOST their PATEK license and soon to be others. It's been proven that they sell directly to grey market flippers or they sell their PATEK ALLOCATION directly to the grey market (I have serial numbers, customer info, and where they ended up to prove it). Hence their lavish lifestyles, specially David(one of the 3 corrupt brothers) explicitly speaking about how he dropped a PATEK 40th anniversary edition from his inventory and boasted how it's worth 1 million dollars(at the time) and his Vermont home that is being custom built. All 3 brothers constantly wear the newest models on their wrist but have the audacity to tell clients, there is nothing available for sale. Most specifically stating, they can't wait for the Le Mans Daytona edition to be released as that will cover their summer travels. They are extremely corrupt, greedy, and liars. Hmmmm. I read a review of Hartgers that was pretty negative. Actually it was their only negative review. The customer claims that one of the staff pre-judged him based on the way he dressed and was rude, claiming that he couldn't afford a repair on his watch. I take wild exception with this. While I dress well for work, when I am out of the office I generally wear tattered jeans and some sort of t-shirt paired with a leather jacket. It is in this apparel that I generally visit Hartgers, am treated exceptionally well and have bought no less than a dozen fairly expensive watches. Before the reader jumps to conclusions based upon my age, I might remind them that I have been doing business there since I was 17 and have always dressed in much the same fashion. The service is very attentive while maintaining a casual approach. No pressure, or advanced sales techniques. They have no problem taking $100,000 watch out of the case to show my teenage son or spending a good amount of time educating me on something I am interested in buying. While I cannot speak with experience of their jewelry business, I would strongly recommend anyone who is interested in purchasing a fine watch pay them a visit. Worth mentioning is also that their prices are more than fair. Nice people, casual approach, great prices, fantastic selection and a beautiful store all add up to 5 Stars in my book. Their selection is the best in the state and short of going to Tourneau, which I despise, they even rival some of the better boutiques in Manhattan. Originally, found Hartgers because I wanted a Panerai that I'd been eyeing for some time and they are one of the few Panerai AD's in NJ. Visited Hartgers recently for a repair. Came during day time working hours, rang and rang the doorbell and no answer. Saw an older gentleman inside. Went home, googled store hours and saw they were open. Called up and they said to come back and ring bell. Luckily I live in town. Went in and was greeted by the older gentleman, told him I needed a jewelery repair. He seemed bothered by it, but I noticed I was the only customer in the store, which is usually the case each time I've been here. Not sure if it was because I was casually dressed or my hispanic look. He was very vague about the repair, if they could even do it..Priced it and I decided not to proceed with it, because of the attitude and lack of customer service. I decided to go to Laviano's in Westwood, boy what a difference, regardless of the reasons you are there, you are greeted by friendly staff. Was happy to have the repair done w/them, and will now use them going forward for jewelry/watch repairs/services and purchases. Would not return to Hartgers.
