So I bought a $1 Goldback through an online auction and received a $1/2 Goldback three weeks later. I called Berger coins and no answer, then I emailed them and finally got a response. They want me to send back that $1/2 Goldback and they will send me the $1. Who would have thought that was a good idea. The correspondence I have had with Berger coins sounds (AI) to me. BEWARE!!! BEWARE!!! BEWARE!!! I recently won a few items from Berger Coins and Collectables auction that was ran online through Hibid.com. I won a mistery box bid of approximately $100. The minimum bid was just a few dollars less and I was the only bidder. I also won 5 gemstones, a roll of wheat pennies and a roll of Indian head pennies. I received my items yesterday and the mystery box revealed 1oz silver coin, and extremely worn 1936 quarter and Barber coin, and a small yellow gemstone found out at a highly rated jewelry that it was a Cetrine stone worth $6. An ounce of silver is worth $32.64. A circulated 1936 quarter in decent condition is $7. And the Barber dime is worth $6. So if my math serves me well that's $51.64. So this business made $50 from me. Also, The 50 pc Indian roll only had 9 that were Indian pennies. The rest were regular wheat pennies. I wasn't expecting up to "$3,000"worth of coins as what was described in the listing, but if you place a reserve on a lot it's expected to be worth at least the reserve price that's listed. And where is the second mystery box? I paid for both invoices at the same time. You don't give out tracking information even when a customer asks for it so who knows. Probably won't even receive that item like many other customers that's posted on BBB. The communication with this business has been almost nonexistent. Extremely hard to get in touch with anyone and when they say they'll get back to you, they don't. I am not purchasing anything else from this business and would highly recommend others to STAY AWAY, unless you like loosing money. I also found out that this business's rating on the BBB website is an F with alerts. There's also comments from other past customers not even receiving items. read more

Purchased multiple rolls of unsearched pennies. Not one roll had a date lower than 1940. Purchased their wheat indian head mixed roll. Each roll had 8 to 10 indians. I purchase three items from an online auction on 6/2/23. I paid via. bank transfer on 6/5/23. They acknowledged recipient of the funds on the same day. They said they would send out my Items by that Thursday (6/8/23). I waited until 6/15/23 I inquired as to how they sent the coins. They stated they were being sent that week. I exclaimed the auction was 2 weeks ago and what happened! they claimed they were behind new banks. Bla, Bla, Bla,. Bull Shit. Their response on 6/15/23* "I will go into the customer profiling on Hibid and note you are not happy but shipment will be there by Tuesday for sure" Well I waited until 6/21/23 "Ok it is WEDNESDAY, what happened to Tuesday for sure!" "I found what happened and package will go out today and you will have in next few days" "It was showing unpaid but I got it corrected now." "Things happen but obviously you are not an understanding person. Won some auctions on Hibid 2 weeks ago. Was quick to get an invoice and billed my Credit card. Items said they were in Wyoming, about 500 miles away. I waited 8 business days figuring sometimes the USPS is slow... Nothing showed up so I e-mailed them back about 2 and a half business days ago asking about any tracking info they might have, no response. I called yesterday and left a voicemail. Having heard nothing in 24 hours I tried to call again today and it went straight to voicemail and the mailbox is full! I am going to give them one more day to get back to me and then I am contacting my Credit Card company to reverse the charges as fraud. read more

Slowest shipping times on the planet, assuming you even get your items. I bought over 3 pounds worth of "unsearched" wheat cents from them on HiBid. Went through them, and they were all 40s & 50s. I go through thousands a month and have never gotten it this bad. They don't reply to messages sent to them via online or phone. Avoid them. read more

Won an auction paid for it and never received my coin. No response from Berger until I told them I was filing with the BBB the told my they have been doing this for 27 years and everything will be fine. Nothing is fine no shipment no refund no communication from them. A complete waste of money. The should be called Berger Cons instead of Berger Coins read more

I wish there was a negative star rating. I won several items on 2 of their online auctions and combined the invoices. I paid in full the day after the second auction ended. All of this was on July 28th - 31st, it's now October 31st I haven't gotten anything. I messaged with Erik Mathews several times and all I got was lies and a lot of run around. Essentially running a legal scam. They put the disclaimer in small print that they are allowed to bid up the items they have for auction, which they actively do. Additionally, if you bid on a large number of identical items (same offer price), they'll often "let" you win just one (if you've bid enough), just so they can make profit off the shipping charges. read more

If I could give them 0 stars I would. This shop literally stole $362 from me. I placed max bids on a good amount of items in an auction of theirs last September. Low and behold, I won all of them, for my max bid. They bid the price up on the seller's behalf. So I told them I didn't want them. Well they went ahead and charged me anyways. And since then I have been emailing, calling, and texting them. They responded at first, but have since decided to not respond. I have yet to be reimbursed, or have the items shipped to me. The owner has read receipts turned on on his phone. Do I see that he gets my messages. These guys are crooks! I'm not the only one with a situation like this. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!!! read more

I paid over $700 on one of their auctions and never received my items. They do not ever answer their phone. Sometimes they respond to emails but basically lie about where your items are. I haven't received a routing number nor a refund and I've been trying to work with them nicely since September. Advertised an 1803 large cent as large date and large fraction but I received the coin and it was the small date and small fraction. The small date and small fraction is a much more common coin. I emailed them and got no response. Still have yet to receive any response from them. read more
