Alright, so even reading this review beforehand I took a chance and called Dawson's Jewelry and made an appointment. Upon arriving and meeting him, Sharon was 100% correct and on point. He is a decently kind man and was on-time as well so props to him! BUTTTTT.... you can't NOT give me a receipt or write-up and expect me to be okay with just leaving my personal and expensive belongings in your possession. I went to Mr. Dawson needing an engagement ring and he made every effort to see it through. He helped me to customize a ring and select a stone to fit with great precision. He was able to turn it around in just a few days and even shipped it overnight to help with my plan of engagement. I'm greatly thankful for his work and service. read more

I was looking for an engagement ring for my girlfriend and knew the basic design and shape that I wanted, but knew little else about the process. Gregg (not Craig like the previous two people) helped me through the process. He showed me some styles that looked like what I was looking for and started me along the process. I then threw him a curveball and showed him an heirloom diamond that I wanted to use for the center stone. The diamond was a very unique shape that required the style that I selected to be customized. He helped me out and showed me a sketch of what the new ring would look like. When I received the ring it exceeded my expectations. It is always nice to support a local business and keep the money in town rather than in the pockets of a chain store with a cheesy catch phrase. read more

Dawson's is the real deal! My husband had my engagement ring and wedding band made here and it is superb! My ring has 48 small diamonds in it and I have never lost one, 7 years later! The pricing is also amazing; he taught us so much about diamond quality classifications and when you go to other bug box jewelery stores, you realize they are selling lesser quality diamonds but for a higher price just because their name. 1000% r ecommend Dawson's! read more

I was hunting high and low for a push present for my wife while in town... I didn't want to get her anything from one of the big-box type jewelry stores. Unfortunately, we found our way to Dawson's last after making our way from the north end of Old Town. It's not that the other jewelry stores aren't nice- they very much are- it's just that Gregg's shop has the most diverse selection with the most personality of any shop in town. We are drawn to vintage jewelry, and the selection at Dawson's is second to none in that regards. Prices are also incredibly reasonable; I left with my wife's diamond earrings having paid 1/3 the price that I was expecting/prepared to pay. Gregg was amazing. He went to graduate school for gemology, and it certainly shows. He was incredibly friendly and even played with our 7 month-old son, taking him behind the counter to look at himself in the mirror. You can tell that he's a family man who cares about his business. If you're in Fort Collins and are looking for unique, vintage jewelry, this shop is a MUST VISIT. read more

I was shopping for an engagement ring for my girlfriend and stopped in here based on all the high 5/5 reviews. I left wondering why it was rated so well. The selection is very small. I had considered doing something custom, and asked about that. I was told that even though I was looking for about a month and a half away, I wouldn't have time. Main point: After looking here with my friend, he gave me a hard time because I had talked up Dawson's after looking at reviews online. We both agreed that selection was poor, and Gregg wasn't much interested in keeping my business. I won't even bother going back. It won't be work my time. There are better choices for jewelers int he area. Consider checking out someone else. Oh, and don't bother asking about any of the diamonds listed on their Diamond Inventory on their website. They don't have any of them. I expect it is a trick to get customers to come in. The prices really are too good to be true. read more

Greg has been our family jeweler for over 30 years. He always had a beautiful assortment of unique pieces and was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. He has semi-retired now and has moved to another location, working by appointment only. I met with him yesterday and he was as always: a very smart, patient, honest and personable man who has a wealth of knowledge to draw from to meet my needs. He always asks about the family before I leave and that leads us into an extended time of catching up. You never need to hesitate to work with Greg. He's one of the best in every way. Thanks Greg!! Craig Dawson knows his stuff! Don't be alarmed by the small store front and old school look of the place. He has some beautiful jewelry here and if he doesn't have something - ask for a book to look at all the different manufacturers he can buy from - this way you get what you want. He does a lot with consignment as well. All I do is describe what I am looking for and he always finds something that exceeds my expectations. My watch is from here and it fits my style perfectly! A great place for diamonds, gold, exotic gems and high quality. I would highly recommend this business and Craig! read more

Greg is incredibly personable and friendly. My husband and I got my engagement ring and wedding ring from him. He also fixed a platinum ring that had come loose around the stone. He has made us customers for life! As for the one star review that was given, I will say this...my mother is a certified jeweler and I know from experience that jewelers will only work on that which they are trained and comfortable with. So knowing Greg (my husband has known him for quite some time), he wanted to save that person time by telling them he couldn't do what she was asking. He most certainly deserves a 5 start review! Wonderful locally owned shop. Gregg is extremely friendly and helpful. I went in looking for simple earrings. When I saw the gourgeous pieces, including high quality antique pieces, I thought I was out of luck. Not only did he produce exactly what I wanted, the price was excellent. The owner is very willing to spend time answering questions. I could not help but notice some lovely engagement rings. Guys, if you are shopping, this store has antique to custom pieces. I found Dawson's fine jewelry shop one day after having a disappointing experience with another jeweler in town. This shop was great find. I dropped my 12-yr-old engagement ring off at a chain jewelry store for rhodium plating and was told my ring needed to also be re-tipped and was quoted around $100 for the re-tipping alone, with the work taking about 2 weeks. Not knowing anything about that process and not trusting a chain to do the work, I reached out to a FB community group for recommendations on local jewelers. Dawson's was suggested and I decided to check them out. I walked in one day and met Greg, the owner, and asked him to give me a second opinion on my ring. He did, admitted the re-tipping didn't look urgent but he couldn't predict the future. He described the whole repair process and said he was backed up a few weeks with holiday work so I figured I'd come back later to have the repairs done. Maybe a month later I went in on a Friday to drop it off; he took the time to show me specific characteristics of my diamond (which no other jeweler has offered to do before, nor have I thought to ask) and quoted me a price far below what the chain had quoted. I didn't ask a time frame, expecting it to take a week or two, but was pleasantly surprised when I got a call the following Tuesday afternoon that it was ready! The ring looked perfect, he showed me my diamond under the scope again to see the defining characteristics, and I was on my way. Really pleasant guy, great shop (I told my husband if he ever needs jewelry ideas for me, just head to Dawson's...he had some really beautiful stuff!), great prices, great timeline, excellent service. Gregg is the simply put the very best in Fort Collins jewelers. He does EXCELLENT work; the quality of his work is far above any of his competition. I first bought a watch for my now husband from him and it was one of the best gifts I've ever given him. My husband and I also went through him for all of our wedding needs. My husband purchased my engagement ring from him. We purchased both our wedding rings from him as well. When I wanted to have custom earrings made for my bridesmaids, he did that as well. He does do standard stuff and has many manufacturers that he orders from if he doesn't have what you are looking for but he also is an artist with his custom work. He has stained glass he has made available for purchase as well. I always know that my jewelry is protected by Gregg's integrity. He works to make sure each piece fits perfectly.
