It's been nearly 3 years since Bergstrom Honda told me that the oil and oil filter I used to change my own oil was not right (imagine matching the owners manual for oil and auto shops for the filter). My engine threw a rod at 63k miles, 3 thousand miles after my full warranty expired. I've been reminded of this yet again when a friend of mine bought a brand new Hyundai that is eating oil and Bergstrom wants no part of the issue. I bought my 2015 Honda Accord sport from Bergstrom Honda, brand new. 2020, the engine blows up on my way to a convention, near Fond du Lac. Between sitting there and at a third party shop for over a month, supplying Bergstrom with all my receipts for oil changes, they decided not to do anything on my behalf because I didn't get my car serviced by them. I live 40 minutes away, and am quite capable of changing my own oil. I currently have a 2015 Honda Accord, 73k on the odometer but over 110k on a used engine thanks to Bergstrom deciding that the receipts I produced for purchasing my oil and filters were not ok, that the oil filter was not appropriate for my car (Amazon, AutoZone, O'Reilly's,etc says it is), and that working on your own car is frowned upon. As you can see, this still pisses me off. Gustman put up a bigger fight on my behalf with Honda than Bergstrom did. When I get my next vehicle, Bergstrom will be buying mine, and I'll take that money to Gustman, or direct to the manufacturer. Honda basically quit on me driving north through Oshkosh. Saw Begstrom and exited as best l could with the little bit of power the car had. Mechanics got to it fast enough, gave it a diagnostics review & presented me with an estimate of $4000 for parts alone to fix the problem. Decided "no" and towed it home to my mechanic who ran his own tests. Well...first, Bergstrom had the wrong model year of my car! Second, none of their listed "faults" were the problem. My mechanic found the faulty part, bought a refurbished one and installed it, $675 total!!! Car runs like a top again! Find someone else to look at your car--don't trust these folks, protect your wallet!!!! read more

I live in Indianapolis, but traveled here to purchase a car from the used car superstore. I was served on the highest professional level. They allowed me to take the car for an outside inspection (dealers I called in other states would not allow this) and helped me get a temporary drivers permit and apply for Indiana plates. I am not a regular customer and do not even live in the area - just passing through and ran into engine trouble with my Honda Odyssey. Bergstrom's fantastic service dept fit me in immediately for a diagnostic test and had me back on the road in just over an hour. Joel was super friendly and didn't mind at all that I had three kids AND a dog in tow - just had us make ourselves comfortable in the lounge. If that is how they treat someone passing through I can only imagine how well they treat their regular customers - well done! read more

Love my new Subaru Forester! The car I wanted with the specific features is in extremely high demand. A special order was placed for me and the team continued to scour the country and get me a vehicle sooner. I wound up selling my current car very quickly, and the entire staff was extremely accommodating providing a loaner for me, that they delivered! They wound up finding me a car and working with me to get a deal that fit within my budget. The entire staff was very accommodating throughout the entire process. When the car came in I was given a detailed walk through and everyone wanted to be sure I was taken care of. A great experience. I will definitely be back next time! read more

I set up an appointment 2 weeks ago at Bergstrom Nissan for a recall procedure. It was supposed to take 4-5 hours. But today when I brought the car in for the appointment they said they would need to keep my cars 10 days or so. I had an appointment for this of course but all the reps could say was the guy wasn't there, and they were working on another car, and they might need parts .... ya da da. Ridiculous! read more

Mechanic noted on repair order that the 2013 Honda Civic needs replacement tires at 21000 miles. Considering the tires were rotated every 6000 miles (3 times), this can only mean: a.) Honda puts really lousy tires on their cars, or b.) Bergstrom is a little too aggressive at selling new tires. It's a bad situation either way. My favorite part of the afternoon was the service writer asked (twice) if the tires were new when we bought the new car from them. read more

Salesman was incredibly pushy. Sales manager was insulting/rude upon my decision to not buy the car, going as far as questioning my intelligence in doing so. In a matter of minutes, they went from nearly closing a sale to losing a customer for life. read more

Nothing personal but I now understand why there is such high turnaround at Bergstrom. The salesman I dealt with treated me like an idiot and then got defensive and argumentative. Everyone has bad days but seriously if I'm going to drop $30k, I'd expect a little more finesse. Good luck with your June 3000 goal. read more

I purchased new tires from the Honda service center less than a year ago and have since moved across the country. 3 months ago, one of them went flat because of a hole in the sidewall (though no nail in it) so it had to be replaced...figured I'd just ran over something in that instance. A month ago, while driving in the middle of nowhere, more than 100 miles from any towing company, one of the others blew out completely while driving on the highway, and the other 2 had air bubbles at that point (that weren't there in the morning; I'd checked before going long distance) and had to be replaced as well. 4 new tires replaced in the course of 9 or 10 months. The middle-of-nowhere mechanic I was able to make it to on a spare and 2 bad tires told me that they were clearly more worn than they should be at that point on top of it all, and his exact words were "if it were me, I'd take these back to whoever sold them to me and throw them at their face." I'm not driving back to Wisconsin, but I did try to call + explained my situation to someone in the service department, who told me that his manager would call me back later in the day. Shuttle van was not there when I dropped off my car at 1 p.m., although I previously arranged for a ride to work. It got there at 1:20, so I was a good 20 min. or more late back to work. I could not get a ride back to the dealership at 5 p.m. as I wanted. I had to get picked up at 4:15 p.m., which was OK, but we had 2 in the van already and then had to drive to Oshkosh Truck to pick up another guy! VERY late getting back to work. For this reason alone, I would not go back, but since this was a recall repair under warranty, I went to Bergstrom. Had previous bad experience with a brand new Camry when they promised me a free battery for my key fob that went bad after a couple months. A buddy brought my fob in when repairing his Nissan and they dinged me $5 for a battery, so that was it for me and Bergstrom. This kind of small-time stuff adds up fast. Your fancy waiting room doesn't make up for a lack of a timely ride. read more
