[[HIGHLIGHT]]The lady on the line was very knowledgeable and warm.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Five people reserving and 1 person reserving all get the same one room. There were 4 of us in our group and we got this room for 30 min. It is pretty small but would be fine for 2 people, I feel. The water was very hot and we did have to add cold water at intervals. It's our fault for doing this in the first week of June (weather was about 85 and sunny outside!) I can see this being a spot of refuge in the colder months! There was a tank of cold spring water for drinking. This bathhouse just had 1 bathroom that was roomy enough to change in but no other changing rooms. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The receptionist and staff were very nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I appreciated the printout with all the minerals in the water listed. That was informative and so interesting. We also additionally bought a jug to load up their mineral spring water! This was not a cheap activity but we loved the park and the attraction and history behind everything. We walked around to check out the park and springs but we also visited some of the bath houses and checked out the cool hotel which we thought about staying at prior to booking another place not that far away. I know for sure the next time we come to this area we are staying at The Country Inn Of Berkeley Springs due to it's amazing vibes, proximity to the bath houses and springs, walking distance to one of my favorite breweries, cool shops, and restaurants. We did not expect this area to have so many cool things to do and see, so the plans we had already made for that day didn't allow for us to get to enjoy much of it because if we would have known we would have taken full advantage of the spas and area in general. We really enjoyed our trip here! We scheduled a hot stone couples massage. You get 15 or so minutes in the baths before your service, then we had the massage. They also offer you a shower after your massage. This was our second visit to the baths - with the temps in the 90s, we must have been crazy to want to soak in 100 plus degree water ;) ...but we loved it the first time so in we went! We book the 30-minute baths as it seems to be just the right amount of time - time to heat up those aching muscles without getting too hot;) The individual private baths are nice & clean - almost with a steampunk vibe with the pipes & levers - the levers allowing you to add cold water to your liking. One of the treasures we found in Berkeley Springs West Virginia is the State Park Bath House. Amazing amazing amazing!! This piece of history in the center of town is an old school style bathhouse where you soak in heated natural mineral spring water in a private room that you rent for a 30 or 60 minute at session. We did a 30 minute soak and got to feel the way a chicken must feel when dropped into a hot pot. There are valves to add as much cold water as you like! The tubs are heated to 110 or so and you slowly submerge yourself. The minerals in the water soak into your muscles and I cannot describe how relaxed I felt. A full body high that lasted hours. I added cold water constantly towards the end of the time to give me that cool plunge feeling. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The folks who run the bathhouse work for the great state of West Virginia. They were friendly and knowledgeable and the rooms are full cleaned after every use.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The rooms rent out quickly so make sure you make reservations ahead of time![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It's an experience you will not forget. My wife and I spent a nice weekend away in Berkley Springs WV. A very quiet, neat, and small town, but well worth the trip down from Ohio. First time visiting the area and definitely want to make a return trip. As for the State Park, it is very, very small park and mot much else to do besides the Roman bathhouses, a filling station for Spring water and a small museum about the town. I bet during the summer when the pool is open and the weather is hot, the springs are neat to soak in as they are always at 74 degrees. The springs were around 1748 and you can also see a replica of George Washington's bathtub. It is basically a hole in the ground but also cool for nostalgia and imagination of what it was like. As for the review of the bathhouses, they have a "newer" modern bathhouse that has a legit spa and parlor and we did not get a chance to check any of the amenities out. We did book the old Roman Bathhouse. At first glance when you walk in, it is obviously completely foggy and hot. We signed up for a 30 minute session. I believe it was $30 or so a person but then $22 for any additional person. [[HIGHLIGHT]]My wife and I weren't sure what to expect so I asked a few questions to people waiting along side us. Yes, you are supposed to go nude in the tubs, but can also go in a suit if you are with friends.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My wife and I entered the room and got in the water. It is like 100 degrees and the water feels so good on any achy bones you may have. They do supply water and cups as you will need it and there is a faucet that you can add cold water if you want to. It does get super hot and foggy in there and to be honest 30 minutes is almost too long. We left with a few minutes to spare. It was an awesome experience and has a great story of what the bathhouses do medically and how they were created etc. The history alone is neat to soak it all in. I will most definitely make a return trip. The attached museum is small but it is free and cool to explore and learn about the area. Upon your exit for $1 or $2 you can buy a liter jug and fill it up with the natural spring water. read more

What a cool place! This park is a mineral springs and George Washington bathed here back in the day. Still operating as a bath, you can come and soak in your own private bath. Kind of like a mini pool all to yourself. It really was wonderful. After my soak I got a full body massage. The massage was great and I felt great afterwards. The only downside is that the massage areas are not rooms so the beds are separated by curtains not walls so you could sometimes hear conversations around you but for the most part it was quiet. After the massage, they ask if you'd like a shower and they get that running for you. Shampoo and body wash are provided, although I didn't see any wash cloths. Locker area is small but they make sure that no one else comes in while you are in there. There is a small gift shop at the entrance if you'd like to purchase anything. You can also take home some of the mineral water if you'd like. If you want a lot, bring your own jugs to fill up as much as you want. Staff were very friendly and professional. What a treat to find this place. I had never heard of Berkeley Springs, WV or about the spas there. Taking a day trip to the area, I stopped at the Berkeley Springs State Park. The welcome sign states, "America's First Spa." Intrigued, I had to learn more. According to the promo brochures, George Washington paid a visit here in 1761 and took in the healing waters. Colonists had arrived in 1730 and "learned from the native people" the uses and benefits of the healing waters of the springs. I doubt that is exactly how it went down, but don't doubt Native Americans had them first until their lands were offered for public sale, George Washington being a first purchaser. Anyway, here we are in 2023 and the Roman Baths are available for anyone to enjoy. And that, I did. For a half hour I submerged myself in 104-degree mineral spring water and enjoyed a therapeutic spa experience. The spa attendants were fantastic (especially the pregnant one - didn't get her name). She explained how everything was going to happen, offered fresh water inside the room, and knocked when my time was up. read more

First, the history alone is fascinating. My son has Ankylosing Spondylitis and I have metastatic breast cancer that spread to my bones. The 15 minutes was awesome. Hmmm.....I'm a little torn here. This place needs a facelift. I get that it's historical and all, but it reminded me of a cross between a public restroom (like the rest stops you find along the highway on a long road trip) built in the 1950s and an elementary school. My massage was done by Dale and he did an okay job, but for a one hour massage that costs upwards of 100 bucks, I expect the amenities to be a little greater. First of all, they don't give you slippers, so you are walking around barefoot. They do give you a robe. The locker area doesn't really have any extras, like personal shavers, lotions, q-tips, toothbrushes, nor other fun little toiletries. When you get into the spa area, it has ugly tiles and there are a bunch of men who work there sitting around, watching you walk in. It was a little awkward. The "bath attendant" led me in and the men sitting around all looked up, seemingly bothered that someone was interrupting their conversation. I am not sure what they were doing, because they were just sitting there in the middle area of all the curtained-off bath and massage areas. When you get a massage here, you get to choose between a whirlpool or Roman bath to loosen your muscles before you begin. I chose the whirlpool. They take you into this dull-looking curtained-off section, turn on the jets, and close the curtain. There was a pitcher of water there to drink, but I was getting really hot. I ended up getting out and sitting on the edge. One of the guys sitting back there must have heard me getting out, because he yelled above the jets, "Are you ready to get out?" Hell yes, I was. So then he instructed me to pull the plug to drain the water. Dried off, got the robe back on and Dale was waiting for me. He led me to another curtained area within that large room for the massage. There is traditional "spa music" playing, but you also hear the other men talking and the loud sound of water draining. Not the most peaceful place in the world. Dale did a decent job, but over-all the experience just wasn't exactly what I would expect for the price I paid. Maybe one of the other spas in Berkeley Springs would be a better choice. But this one is not one I could easily recommend. read more

I went nearly ten years ago and it was life changing for my neck stiffness! After this I bought an American made soft hot tub. if I could give the main bathhouse in berkley springs -forty five stars I would. Imagine you're my sister. You go to get a deep tissue massage with your boyfriend for your anniversary. You get a masseuse named Terra. Right before your massage you start to take off your robe and she says to wait so she can leave the room. Sure, of course! You do. During the massage, you lift your arm to move a piece of your hair. Apparently you're supposed to warn your masseuse or ask for their holy permission or something because if you don't, and a NIPPLE crosses their line of vision, they will cut your massage short, say nothing to you, accuse you of sexual assault and TRAUMATIZING THEM, and then STILL try to charge you for a full massage with no conversation at all. [[HIGHLIGHT]]She found this out when her boyfriend tried to ask why her massage had been cut short.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] To get a refund from this place, you have to contact the state park. [[HIGHLIGHT]]So now she's sobbing in her car, accused of preying on this masseuse who was forced to witness a nip slip on a human body (presumably she's seen a nipple before, as a masseuse), and trying to get a refund because of this experience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I imagine this person will still be employed here tomorrow so I HIGHLY recommend getting a massage LITERALLY anywhere else. What a horrific experience for a customer who went somewhere specifically to relax with the help of a professionally trained body worker. I hope this person gets help and stays far away from service-based professions in the future. read more

I decided to try this place instead of the Renaissance Spa, NEVER AGAIN. The massage was mid, not terrible but certainly not good either. The massage "rooms" were separated by curtains so I could hear the woman next to me talking to her massage therapist the entire time. Then when I got to check out they charged me 20$ more than the price on their website which I had confirmed with one of their staff when I made the reservation. I pointed this out to them and they refused to honor the price listed on their own website that I had been told over the phone was the correct price. They were doing construction on the other bath house so they were not doing any baths because they didn't have water due to.construction. Thankfully the ladies at the Roman Baths let me use their bathrooms twice and they were very kind. Very nice park in the middle of town. Full of history, this area contains the warm mineral springs. The bath house has spa treatments which include 15 minutes of quiet relaxation in the mineral waters. All kinds of massage treatments include Therapeutic, hot stones, cupped, prenatal, couples and chair. Sauna and showers are available. Make a reservation. A gift shop is worth browsing. In the park are the remnants of baths from the 1700s, including George Washington's personal bath. Traveling, I had packed a lunch and ate it here. On the grounds are lots of tables, benches, a gazebo and the city pool. The area is charming. Check out the Visitors Center nearby. Park in the free gravel lot and walk the town. read more

I came to Berkeley Springs to check out the Apple Butter Festival, so a trip out to WV wasn't a complete waste. Seeing George Washington's Bathtub was so ridiculous, hilarious, and interesting at the same time, and I am glad I got to see it. He seemed so small in person, though, but I thought it was neat that this park had mineral water that supposedly has 'healing' powers. I read that those with a skin condition like psoriasis or eczema can take advantage of these mineral waters, whether wading through the 'pool' (at your own risk) or trying out their 'spa' that's located on the premise (which I thought was kind of weird). I visited twice during my stay in town. First time was in the Roman bath, it was very nice. Each bath is freshly prepared with nice and hot fresh mineral water. You are in a private and comfortable room, the bathing area has room for four people. There is plenty of room to stretch out and float. They knock on your door when your session is over and that is a signal to hit the switch that starts to drain the tub. My second visit was a couple of days later and was in the main bath house. This time I tried one of the tubs with power jets. Again this was a freshly drawn bath. So refreshing, and very invigorating with the power jets. Staff was very friendly both times and for the price, Very very worth it! Will definitely use these facilities again on next visit to Berkeley Springs! read more

What a neat place to come for a day trip. I spent $27 for a half an hour alone in a hot spring Roman Bath. It was worth every penny. My skin was glowing and I felt revitalized after that experience. For 1$ you can purchase a gallon jog to fill from the spring tap outside to take home (It even has a cute Berkeley Springs sticker on it). I thoroughly enjoyed my day trip of relaxation from DC to WV thanks to this bath experience. I recommend making an appointment, it was quite busy. read more
