From the very first meeting with Tom Wall, we knew we HAD to hire him! His kind, easy-going personality put me and my husband at ease and made us feel like old friend, fast! BP apparently is two women in the Lenox area who prepare delicious, gorgeous picnics on request for any special occasion. Ours was a picnic at Tanglewood before a concert. We arrived to find tables all set up and waiting for us (marked by a white balloon). The food arrayed before us included fresh, carefully chosen items including superior cuts of roast beef, chicken, prosciutto, salami and all kinds of appetizers and snacks and salads, and a chocolate cake for dessert. Add in wine, beer and water, and we had ourselves a feast. The tables included a lovely covering and a candlelabra and comfortable pillows around it. We could have asked for nothing more. Except -- when we were done they CLEANED UP!! All we had to do when the concert ended was leave, not pack up baskets, chairs and dishes, just walk away. We think Berkshire Picnics is the greatest discovery since sliced bread. Apparently so did many people at Tanglewood, who kept walking by and admiring the picnic and asking us to tell them all about it -- which we cheerfully did. Yes, it is expensive. But wow, try it and we are confident you'll be amazed, too.

As a groom-to-be, what I did not know was that lighting and sound conspire to make your guests feel a sense of magic at your event. John and Bill are experts in this, and in particular they have a "can-do" attitude and skill set to make your vision come to life. For us, we needed to construct a kind of stage (Mandap) for a Hindu wedding ceremony that we had imagined using natural wood. They worked with our florist to create a vision of white birch logs to create the 4 poles of the ends, and create a mini-deck/stage on which the ceremony could happen in the woods. It was amazing! Furthermore, they added lighting in our main reception hall and onto the lawn outside that created a beautiful ambiance. People used the words "fairy", "magic", "ethereal" and "glowing" to describe the mood in the room. Lastly, I would say personally they are a joy to work with. They are friendly, casual, and caring - taking the time to get to know you even though they don't have to. They worked seamlessly with our other wedding vendors, and in general are an incredibly strong addition to any wedding vendor team! Go forth and hire with confidence!

BRIDES BEWARE: Hidden Fees, and unprofessional coordinator Parker…read more Renting the basilica for your wedding is very expensive, $13k expensive, but what they don't disclose is that $13k is just the start of the fees they will randomly hit you with. If you're like me and money is valuable to you, then please keep reading before you book. Here is a *short* list of all the ways Parker at Basilica scams you: -1) First contract included a caveat that IF basilica gets a liquor license within 6 months you must pay them and undisclosed amount for alcohol. Parker refused to give us an amount to budget for this secret clause. -2) Next issue was when Parker rented out the Friday of our wedding without telling us the amount we would receive back. She promised us we'd "split" the cost which would mean $6k, but in reality we only received $2k back, and the Friday bride still paid the full amount. When we said no, we were told it's too late to go back and she wouldn't even issue us a new contract detailing out the change because she didn't have time. At this point we knew our contract meant nothing. -3) Third issue was when we wanted to bring in all our own rentals, including lights, since of course the lights are extra. Parker told us it would cost us a fee to remove the lights, and that we had to pay to rent the lights from her. -4) Fourth issue was after we just gave in to paying for lights that we couldn't take down, we decided to add on tables. We originally ordered 20 to be safe but we got our final count and only needed 15. Parker told us we couldn't change the tables because the Friday bride needed more. -5) One week before our wedding, we were then told we owed tax on the rentals for the lights and table rentals, even after we had her confirm there were no more incremental hidden fees. -6) Lastly our "refundable" security deposit apparently contains a $400 non-refundable cleaning fee which we also found out days before the wedding. I pray that the Basilica hires a new, professional coordinator so no other couple has to go what we went through. Good luck!!
