Great location and service but the food is just okay. It has nice ambiance but there are a lot of Americans that go there.

This is one of my favorite bar/restaurants in San Miguel. Many expats hang out here. I highly recommend the meatloaf!

Stopped in at Berlin as it was on our list of recommended restaurants. Rather small restaurant area but being Monday night, we were able to get seated quickly. Lots of expats hanging out at the bar. Server and chef were very friendly and attentive. The owner, Carlos, came over and sat with us for a bit. Told him we were considering Mexico as a retirement destination. He took our contact info and said he has contacts throughout Mexico. He would contact so on our future journeys he could connect us with people. An awesome and unexpected offer. I ordered the brontosaurus sized pork shank. It was really good. I did have pork shank at a review on a previous restaurant I ate at that was smaller portion but more flavorful. The pork shank is really good here too. My wife had the poached salmon which she also liked a lot. Restaurant area is at the back of the establishment with limited airflow. That is probably the only downside. Overall, very happy with our experience. read more

Berlín's is a great find just literally steps away from El Centro and the Parroquia. An unbelievable find that we decided to explore. It has the non descript name above the door, we go in,find a long bar with various small rooms in the back where you can sit and eat. Berlín's is frequented by expats and some of the LBGT community which gives it a hip vibe edge. The staff are super helpful speak great English and a warm welcome awaits you when you enter this place. We came several times and sat at the bar. Don't have too high expectations and you will be pleasantly surprised. Remember it's predominantly a local bar frequented by expatriates. read more

The good is amazing ! The wait staff is amazing but the owner is more of a cramudgen! (Not nice at all)

We found this wonderful place on our first night and kept coming back. The owner made us feel like regulars, everybody was warm, welcoming and accommodating. It might not be for everybody, you get what you put in so talk to your neighbour or the bartender or anybody and I guarantee you will have a relaxing evening. The food is very good and reasonable, and the wine list extensive (and the pours are healthy). I recommend this one-of-a-kind bar as highly as possible. read more

Hidden little gem in centro. When you first peak in it looks like and overcrowded bar. Once you walk past that, there are several cozy rooms in the back where you can enjoy your dining experience. Excellent rib eye imported from Texas, the best we had in SMA and the goulash with mashed potatoes was spot on. The Ceasar salad really wasn't a ceasar with fresh pink grapefruit slices and bib lettuce but it was very good. Definitely a place to revisit. read more

Berlin was a regular spot for me until COVID. Now I am a delivery regular! Last night was the Crispy Shrimp and Goulash with a double martini. Yes you can get a martini or one of their Manhattans delivered! That just makes this whole mess more livable, for me at least. I think they take orders and deliver between 1:30-7:30pm Mon - Sat. Sunday - you are on your own. Carlos the owner is also selling his wonderful rib eye steaks from Texas along with some other cuts of meat. I like the filets too. You can get them cooked to order or ready to cook. I'm told you should tip the delivery driver as if he or she were your waiter. Actually the guy who delivered our order was a waiter there and I am sure will be again. It feels good to support a favorite restaurant during these crazy times. And; it feels even better to enjoy comfort food...god knows we need it about now. read more

Berlin has been a favorite for several years. I always came for their martinis and excellent steaks, as well as the sweet staff and lively atmosphere. We had a disappointing meal last year but gave it another chance last night. The staff is still great, as is the atmosphere. The steak, however tasted like it had been microwaved to dryness and quickly put on the grill. We ordered it rare ( and juicy) but it was pinkish, dry and tasteless. In all fairness, the salad and appetizer were good, and the martini, though not as good as I remembered it, was ok. read more

I agree there was a lively bar scene and the drinks were good. We didn't sit at the bar but in a small room . A waitress came took our drink orders and our menus. We reminded her we hadn't ordered. I ordered the grilled salmon with berry chipotle sauce. When it arrived, it had a thin tasteless sauce. I tried to send it back and the waiter argued with me that that's what I ordered! He finally took it back. After watching my friends eat for a while I finally flagged down the waitress who said she'd check on it. She returned with a thicker, tastier dish. After dinner, our plates were removed and we were ignored. After 25 minutes I stood and waved for our check twice. read more

I had really been looking forward to eating at this restaurant after reading the reviews and seeing it opened everyday while walking. The information clearly shows that it's open on Sunday for dinner. When we arrived at 5:30 there was no indication that it was about to open anytime soon so we left. Another day I guess! read more

This place was and still is pretty rad. They have some of the most interesting characters come into this place - from trendy hipsters to the prototypical geriatric crowd San Miguel is known for. Either way, its a cool vibe. Ive been to a live show here (cant believe there was space for the equipment in that small space!* Anyways, i digress. The German food there is delicious and totally authentic. Beer selection is nice too, offering some nice imported beers at a pretty reasonable price. This centrally located German style restaurant offers excellent Wienerschnitzel, sausage, potato salad, and many other German favorites. The dinner entrées average around $10-$12. It's very nice inside, and the food is excellent. read more

This is now one of our favorite regular hang outs, we came here on our first week in San Miguel and sat at the bar on an early mid week evening. When we arrived at 5 ish, we wanted to just have a glass of wine and unwind from our busy day of walking uphill. The people at the bar are made up of expats who have lived here for a while so within a very short amount of time we were being introduced to this one and that one. The place fills up fast and with a a 2 for 1 happy hour the place is very lively. We ended up eating there and really enjoyed all the dishes we were presented (we have been many times since so I will list our faves in no particular order: poached salmon, german sausage dish, breaded asparagus wrapped in serrano ham, the pork shank, the big slab of beef (not sure which cut) and their hamburgers). This is a place to go eat drink and be merry at an affordable price in San Miguel, so give it a try maybe we will even meet, note closed on Sundays. read more

This bar is unusual and awkward. Really small and crowded bar. The room was way over lit. I mean, the lights are way overbearing. Walked in and felt a really weird vibe. Turned around and walked back out the door. read more
