Celebrating Day of the Dead in San Miguel de Allende and decided to have dinner where there was live Salsa music. Although we ordered appetizers and drinks. It was pretty filling! First of all the atmosphere was warm and quite cozy. The wait staff were very nice and not at all pushy given it was a very popular and full restaurant. We ordered the seafood fountain and the guacamole with chips & crackers. Shared by 3 very good friends, it was enough to fill us up! I must say the octopus was very tender. The scallops tiny but tasty, and the shrimp were sweet! The guacamole needed tomatoes, onion, salt,....but I didn't mind so much since the seafood was tasty and a bit spicy. Waiters put on a show with the flaming desserts next to the tables! Cost was very reasonable! I would go back the next time I'm in town. read more

I have traveled to over 40 countries in search of the perfect Ceasar Salad. Full disclosure... the perfect Ceasar Salad (IMHO) is the same recipe that my dad brought back from a hotel in Tijuana back in the 1960's. (It was created by Caesar Cardini in Tijuana in 1924.) When my father passed away in 1994, my quest began. After ordering the salad at Tio Lucas, I exclaimed to the restaurant manager, "Finally! I have found the closest match to my dad's recipe!" We went here for happy hour and stayed for dinner and live music. The food was very good. We got the mushroom soup which was INCREDIBLE! we also ordered the tableside Caesar salad and got the steak medalians with roqufortte sauce. The only 2 issues we had were (1) that the roqufortte sauce didn't taste like the cheese at all, and (2) our salad was made and served to us last... As we were finishing our steak. We would have preferred it to have come before or after the salad and long before the entree. The service was great and we had a nice bottle of wine (after our HH cocktails). One of my favorite restaurant on my short visit to SMA. Fantastic Aztec soup, kabobs and Caesar salad made table side. Live music rounded out the experience in a pleasant atmosphere. We checked into our hotel and we're hungry. We asked the front desk if they had a place they could recommend and they sent us to Tio Lucas and it did not disappoint. We were seated right away, the staff was super kind and attentive! They also had live music going and the decor was beautiful! We started off with aguachilles and queso fundido it was delicious! The bread and butter they bring is also so good!! For my entree i got the tampiquena the meat was delicious and i loved the enchiladas the rice and beans were whatever nothing great. My sister loved her Filet and sides! My parents also liked there entree! Overall the food is delicious so many options and great service if you're in town definitely recommend coming here! Several years ago, I fell head-over-heels in love with my wife again , dancing in her arms at a simple and good meal there, soft and quietly inducive to dancing. What a different turn-around when we returned in 2024, when they hired a couple of male opera "stars," who virtually yelled and screamed whatever "opera" they thought they were doing what they had to announce the type of music they were "performing", and we two had to exit because of the "musical pandemonium,'and otologigical injury risk. Not only is the food very good, the wait staff is super and seems to have fun serving you. This is an authentic Mexican experience with a wide variety of selections. Don't think this is TexMex. 5/5 atmosphere -- very cool place! They have a seating area by the bar that has very cool chairs. When we came there was live music, which is always a plus! The main room has a beautiful tree with hanging lights. 3/5 food -- they make some of the salads tableside. My friend and I ordered a half salad of the Roquefort and Casear. They made the Roquefort tableside and just brought me the caeser...which was kind of disappointing because I was looking forward to seeing it made. Visited San Miguel over New Years and stumbled across this beautiful place! My party of 6 was looking to have a nice NY day dinner and luckily got a reservation here the day of. The decor is GORGEOUS, I loved their Mexican goth aesthetics-- somber yet very classy. Ambience was chill, jazz music was entertaining, and patio area was cozy. We did have to wait a while, but they had a comfortable waiting area near the bar. My dinner was delicious (had the filet mignon) and so was everyone else's, however, the service was not so great because the server forgot our orders and was kind of clumsy. We ordered Caesar salads which he forgot to bring out until after we had already finished our dinner, it was awkward. We came here at the recommendation of friends. We were so disappointed in the quality of the food. Every single one of us requested our meat medium rare, and all were cooked well done. No waiter ever returned to ask about the food quality. Hard to complain when no one is around. We over heard others seated next to us and they too experienced the same charring of beef. When the waiter did return for the bill he did not offer to replace or refund the pathetic beef. Such a shame as the restaurant is beautiful. We loved Tio Lucas! We went there with a party of eight and were promptly seated. Our reservations were on Saturday night and for a large group they handled it well. We all had cocktails and wine. The owner was friendly and helpful in describing the menu items and checked back several times. The menu was in English and Spanish. We all chose the table made Caesar salad and it was delicious. Our entrees were varied and were all well prepared and served together. The decorations and interior of the establishment were very clean and tastefully done. The service was outstanding. This is probably one of the best three restaurants in San Miguel de Allende. The food is delicious, yet simple. As a starter, try provoletta cheese or calamari and side it with a glass of red wine from their extensive list. Or how about a Sangria jar, or gin? When I was a kid this restaurant was great but now it's just fallen off. Me and my wife went a few weeks ago and it was terrible. The service was slow, the drinks where expensive and the atmosphere was loud. We ordered a ceaser salad and it was drenched in awful tasting dressing that was prepared at the table. It felt like they just threw a bunch of random ingredients together that they thought would go well together, added a few anchovies and called it a day, definitely not a good dressing. My wife had the soup Aztec. A Mexican staple that should have been a no brainer for a restaurant in Mexico but this was bland, unseasoned and spicy without flavor. I had the fajitas with arranchera, it was was not seasoned, chewy and there were only 3 or 4 small chunks in the whole plate, which if it had been good would have been disappointing but in this case it was a good thing. Last but not least, the drinks, we both had a mineral water lemonade which was also not good and incredibly overpriced, it's lime, mineral water and simple sugar! Why is it over $25 pesos? The experience as a whole was very unenjoyable and we will not be returning unless they make some big changes. read more

I've been to this restaurant many times, but my last visit was lacking in two ways...the waiter and the hostess! My waiter brought my food, but never returned until he brought me the check. I had pasta and had asked for bread and water which he never brought. I told him his serve was poor, but he walked away. As I was leaving I told the hostess I would like to speak to the manager and she said there wasn't one, in a very sharp tone. I informed her I wasn't leaving until I spoke to him. The manager did come and he listened to my concerns and offered an apology for the inconvenience. He was a very kind and sincere person. The waiter and hostess need some major training in customer service. The food was good, but would have been better with bread AND water. In my opinion there are many more friendlier restaurants here in San Miguel that I will be dining at. Tio Lucas you are definitely not the best here in San Miguel de Allende. read more

The service was great and the owner or manager was very hospitable. The chicken in both the soup and enchiladas was so tender. A local tipped us off to Tio Lucas for their margaritas and they were right. One of the best in town. We came in twice during our stay. Our first visit was for drinks and light snacks. I ordered a Caesar salad thinking it would be quick option. They start by making the dressing table side and construct it while you watch, quite a show for just a salad! . My partner had the octopus entree. Very fresh seafood considering we were no where close to an ocean. Our second visit was for lunch. Our guests had the burgers, fajitas and another fresh seafood entree. And of course a few rounds of margaritas!
