Its a Virgin Amaretto Sour & Citrus Spritz

One of my favorite things to do on vacation is to go to a rooftop bar and this one didn't disappoint. Came at around 5:30pm on a weekend for a party of 2 without a reservation and was able to get a seat next to the window's edge which was fantastic! - Citrus Spritz - I thought this was going to be similar to an aperol spritz but unfortunately the citrus flavors didn't come through, it was quite bitter, and wasn't very bubbly. - Its a Virgin Amaretto Sour - This was one of the better mocktails that I had as there were a lot more layers to the fruit juice. The food really was secondary to the views. Even though Luna bar is only on the 4th floor, the views of the city are unbelievable as it basically had 270 degrees panoramic views and clear view of the main central square with all the different churches. Especially the time that we went, I loved watching the sky turn from blue, to pinks and purples during the sunset, then midnight blue with twinkling stars. The views itself are absolutely stunning and I loved how chill the vibes were as you take in the city. I really wish all rooftop bars did it this well. Truly the food is secondary but come here for a great time and great views!

We came here on our last night in SMA because of the great view and vegan options. We did make a reservation the night before online, which I recommend doing. This place is located inside the Rosewood hotel, but one doesn't need to be a guest of the hotel to enjoy the rooftop bar. We ordered Oscar's Old Fashion, It's A Virgin Amaretto Sour mocktail, vegan Mushroom tacos, vegan Gluten Free Fusilli with Tomato Sauce, and vegan Seasonal sorbet (lychee). Everything tasted great and came out at a good time. They also brought us some bread with olive oil, which we were told was vegan. We paced ourselves to enjoy the great sunset view and our food since we came for a dinner. When it got chilly, they also offered us a nice blanket and turn on the heaters to keep warm. Daniel served us and he was very welcoming, kind, and attentive; in general, everyone was great. The prices are what you would expect for a nice restaurant. This place is great for a date, celebration, or just a really nice dinner. I would definitely return!

Gorgeous space with an attentive and friendly staff. Best views in SMA. Not so many locals here, but definitely a favorite for visitors and expats. Also not inexpensive but the quality matches the prices.

This was noted as a must-visit spot even just for drinks to watch the sunset. Well, I never made it to watch the sun set from here, but I did make it for dinner one night. Needing a break from being in town, dinner here turned out to be just that. Getting in without a reservation still managed to yield a good view of the city. Unlike the close-up paintings some of the restaurants in Centro offer, this view is of the entire landscape of the city. Service was a little inattentive but not enough to make for a ding in the night. I had one dish for the night and it was the rib eye steak. I found it to be done perfectly and very tasty. It was my last night in San Miguel de Allende and this was the perfect way to decompress while still enjoying being here.

This was the highlight of our trip! We had a reservation and I was glad we did! It was packed at sunset. The complementary bread was fantastic. I ordered the sausage pizza and it was amazing. The brûlée cheesecake with pineapple compote was fabulous!

Carajillo- don't be cheap, you must try it.

Beautiful rooftop view of San Miguel. Prices are ok, expected for the location. We had the octopus pizza, it was delicious. This rooftop has stunning views, ideal for pictures. Note: call to reserve your table ahead, highly suggested.

    So many delicious flavors!

Wow! What a view! Alan, our waiter was great at food and drink suggestions. The food is exquisite with an explosion of flavors. We're only sad to live so far away or we would make this a weekly favorite. A special plus is the amazing view!

Yes, the food here is expensive for the portion size but you are paying for the view which is spectacular. I made sure to come 45 minutes before sunset because I wanted to experience the city during the day and watch the whole sunset. The restaurant is clean and the food was full of flavors and presented well. Most of the dishes are Mediterranean cuisine, so not Mexican, but they do a really good job at these dishes. My favorite was the grilled octopus tail and the manchego cheese cheesecake. I also got lamb kebab, which was flavored well softshell crab sandwich delicious as well and cauliflower flatbread service was friendly, and once again the view was amazing.

The menu features a variety of atypical seafood tacos and tostadas, including octopus and smoked fish, which immediately caught my attention. I ended up ordering the Pescado al Pastor taco, which turned out to be a great choice. The chopped fish was marinated in al pastor seasoning and topped with pineapple, onion, and cilantro, with a lime wedge on the side. The combination of flavors was vibrant and very tasty. We also tried the octopus, which was excellent. I'm a bit of a sucker for octopus when it's prepared well, and this one definitely delivered. The ceviche blanco tostada was another highlight--a generous pile of diced fish with tomato, onion, and lime juice that tasted incredibly fresh and bright. The hibiscus margaritas were delicious and refreshing, and I would highly recommend them--especially if you're planning to walk to the restaurant. The restaurant sits up a fairly steep climb from the Parque Benito Juárez area, so it can be a bit of a trek. Fortunately, we were dropped off and picked up by our driver. As for service, we had no issues at all. Our server was attentive and pleasant, though I do recognize that some other reviewers have mentioned inconsistent service. Our experience was positive, but it may vary depending on the day.

From our third stop, Le Pegaso (review: https://yelp.to/rmPAJsgLVf), we had to cross the cobblestone streets around the central plaza, Jardin Allende. Normally an uneventful stroll, it felt more precarious after three bar stops. We made it without injury though. This spot was a spacious, more traditional restaurant with two bars in front. Our group was seated around a dining table. I noticed our Tequila Paloma was a bit skimpier this time (Photo 7), perhaps an acknowledgement that we were tapering off our alcoholic consumption. However, we ended up with the evening's best plate, a pair of Emmoladas, an enchilada-like house specialty filled with shredded chicken and covered liberally in a savory-sweet dark chocolate mole sauce (Photo 8). I would definitely have that again. This obscure place from outside, when you walk in becomes what appears to be a Hacienda along with a patio, Terraza and balconies all around and cantina where you walk in! Not only was this place beautiful in the most traditional of Mexican styles, with tiled and wrought iron stairs to upper balconies, built in shelves and niches withing stone, wallpapered and muralled walls, a typical bar inlaid with the structure with magnificent woodwork and an excellent bartender I might add, clay flower pots galore hanging from the balcony flooring, and an incredible full skylight, wall to wall, but that's not the best of it. The food. The food was magnificent. I have had many a meal in Mexico, I have tried many, many styles of regional cuisine, but I had never ever had the specialty of this house - the Enmolada! The unique specialty of the house at La Cocina Café del Viajero are Enmoladas which are a dish consisting of tortillas in mole sauce... stuffed with fillings of almost any inkling! Enmoladas are a established indigenous dish made with corn tortillas that is coated in mole sauce. This is what I had to have. First let me mention that the food here is incredible, overall. We obviously started with bottled water, a couple of okay Margaritas and some Modelos. As is the custom, we had the Guacamole, which was extraordinarily excellent, with homemade chips, really, really good chips. Someone at the table ordered the Enchilada Capital with Mexican rice - extraordinary and very picoso! To make a long story short, my order of the Enmolada was exquisite. Most folk like me, were only familiar with enchilada sauce, but Enmolada sauce is unique. The enchiladas are smothered in mole sauce, offering a exceptional merge of flavors that stretch from spicy and sweet to savory and smoky. Totally overwhelming the palate, as your tastebuds go in a freefall. They compacted shredded chicken, then rolled it, then garnished it with fresh toppings of crema and cheese. Wow! Needless to say, this was an experience! An exquisite location, excellent service, terrific atmosphere and one of the most life changing taste adventures I had in Mexico. Try an Enmolada, maybe here, it's terrific.
