Jamie W and I bookmarked this convivial spot because it showed up on online gay guides as a place to patronize in San Miguel de Allende. It's not a gay business per se but more a place that accommodates big groups of revelers. That wasn't such a bad thing because hey, they were offering 2-for-1 margaritas. How could we resist? We started with our first pair of MX$175 Classic Margaritas (Photo 8). Quite a kick with a salty rim, and then we realized we had another one coming. We knew we better eat something, so we ordered a couple of salads to share to clear our conscience. First up was the MX$230 Ensalada Griega, a fresh Mediterranean-style combination of cucumber, tomato, red onion, bell pepper, Kalamata olives, and feta cheese drizzled with olive oil, oregano, and lemon (Photo 7). The other salad was the MX$295 Ensalada Burrata, a sweeter, more Italianate salad with arugula, roasted pear, pistachios, and burrata dressed with olive oil and lemon (Photo). I liked this one more as I was swaying to the muzak. We were really getting into the warmed dinner rolls as our second round of margaritas arrived (Photo 6). Thoroughly sloshed, we saw our entree arrive. It was pretty standard, the MX$295 Fajitas de Pollo, chicken fajitas with bell peppers, onion, black and refried beans, paprika, guacamole, and tortilla chips (Photo 10). You'd think we had enough, but our snockered state drove us to dessert, the MX$140 Brownie with Vanilla Ice Cream (Photo 4) and the MX$100 Helados de la Casa, a triple scooper with marscarpone (Photo 5). Oh yes, we be done now. I first ordered the charcuterie. It was pretty good fresh bread, mostly cheese and fruit a couple pieces of meat. The cocktails were nice. The waiters were very helpful and the inside of the restaurant was very pretty. I ordered the lasagna but the waiter forgot to put the order in when it finally came out. I don't know. It just seemed like it had been microwaved. It was kinda hard and the sauce tasted like enchilada sauce, not tomato sauce. Which wasn't terrible just odd. People raved about this restaurant. Amazing breakfast and great vibes! We got this recommendation from our taxi driver and it did not disappoint. The chilaquiles were nice and soft how I like them and the salsa was acidic and not spicy at all. They did bring a spicy red salsa for the table so if you like spicy make sure to add some. The eggs were a bit overcooked, but still solid. We also tried some of their house beer and wow was it delicious. I would definitely recommend if you enjoy beer. Great unassuming place that fits the spot. Long narrow courtyard that leads to Al Fresco dining. Lots of ambiance and rustic looks that could accommodate larger crowds than we experienced. We all had a brunch menu sampling with typical breakfast items. Try fresh mango, orange juices or a real milk, milkshake. A rich Eggs Benedict was served with a refreshing salad instead of more starch. Mole was great and not too sweet. Stumbled upon this place while looking for breakfast when it was already nearing lunch time. We did the buffet which was well worth it because it only cost about 12 US dollars per person (as of April 2022) for the quality of the food you get. The buffet had fresh fruits, a hotcakes/yogurt station, an entree station where they had all the meats, side veggies, rice and beans, a cheese/sauce/salsa station and the quesadilla station. My personal favorites were the quesadilla and the hotcakes. It was my first time seeing a pink quesadilla so I asked the lady about it and she said the pink color is from the betabel or beet juice. I garnished that with some cotija cheese. You also have the option to add meat to your quesadilla. The hot cakes were small and cute. Try it with the honey and nuts that they have. Small bites but so delicious! Only con was that when we came, the place was packed so if you needed the server to come check on your table, you will probably have to catch them coming your way and wave to them. read more

The first day we got to San Miguel De Allende, We have been in the car for four hours coming from Mexico City and we were really hungry . We walked from the Ojo de Agua neighborhood to El Centro and found Mama Mia. My daughter has celiac and so we were looking to make sure we can get some gluten-free options. Delicious risotto! We also ordered a steak and rue repeatedly brought it out, cut it and afuera if we wanted it cooked more. The staff is attentive and professional. The food is high quality and tasty. Lots of our recommended restaurants were closed on Sunday night. Mama Mia was on our list too and we are glad it was!! Very cool restaurant and bar inside, great vibe. Jazz band was playing when we arrived, they did a great job. Service was very good overall. Keep in mind the servers will not pester you during your meal, you have to wave them over if you need something. Food was REALLY good. Menu had English translation which was helpful. I ordered the pork shank and would get it again today. Very tasty. My wife had the carbonara with chicken and she said it was also really good. The fresh tortillas were great. Would definitely visit again on a second trip. 4 stars is mainly that sometimes the band playing got a little loud and it impeded conversation. Other than that, highly recommend. read more

Honestly the food is just not good. We ordered a 4 cheese pizza and it was way too cheesy and the crust is just gross. If you are looking for a wood fired oven pizza this is not the place to go. Also, got a Cesar salad and it was just a few pieces of lettuce with shredded cheese and a dressing. Just not good. I really wanted to visit a terrace bar/restaurant while visiting San Miguel de Allende. We came across Mama Mia and found a nice table up on the terrace. The area upstairs was really nice and had a great view. We weren't hungry so we just ordered some drinks to enjoy with the awesome view. The service was a little slow which is why I gave a 4 star review but the drinks were really good so it kinda made up for it. I did t notice the food on some tables nearby and it looked delicious. After a long wait on a weekend Saturday night, I had the Arrachera (skirt steak) for dinner. It was of a decent size but there was no hint of smokiness from having been on a real "grill". The temperature of the meat itself was extremely even throughout which led me to the conclusion that it was very likely cooked in a sous vide machine. Maybe it's OK for alot of people to have sous vide steaks (at the very least you know you are getting an evenly cooked piece of meat), but I am personally not a fan of the method and thinks it's a cop out for cooking steaks. The famed margarita was just Ok - It was large and salty but nothing special for 180 pesos. The atmosphere was nice (live music, nice lighting) and the service was attentive. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here, but they are one of a few restaurants in the centro that serves late, so maybe your options are limited at that time of night. read more
